This was a great place to stay. Very, very quiet. We did not stay long enough to use the beautiful kitchen but would definitely recommend it. Nice also to have a parking space right outside of the door.

Location was great! Loved the layout! Super clean! Loved the decor! Host was super communicative with fast responses! Hot tub was secluded and perfect!Tip: Parking is tight so if you have a medium to large vehicle park in the street rather then parking space.

The cottage itself was exactly as pictured inside, and it’s in a nice neighborhood. However, we were a bit surprised by the backyard situation, which was the main reason we booked. The property details said it was a “private hideaway,” but the cottage is located behind another house, and much of the yard shown in photos is actually shared. We also learned at check-in that the jacuzzi is shared with the other house, though fortunately no one else used it during our stay. The jacuzzi was old and some of the jets didn’t work that great. The yard is smaller than it appears in the photos, and the bed’s mattress was quite thin and not comfortable. The neighborhood is generally pleasant, though 3 blocks down on San Pablo it’s a bit sketchy. Overall, the cottage is charming, but future guests may want to clarify the backyard and amenities before booking.

As Caroline said, the cottage is behind another cottage with its own backyard. The hot tub is located in the backyard and shared with the cottage in front of it. The cover of the hot tub is old, we are going to replace it with a new one. For the mattress, it’s Casper original mattress, with original price $1700, and actually it’s one of the items that we are proud to have. Sorry that Caroline felt uncomfortable with it.

The host (Arden) is responsive, kind, and supportive in meeting our requests. The house is situated centrally to our needs Berkeley campus, Oakland, grocery stores, etc). We’ve also met a neighbor who was welcoming. The house itself met our basic needs: sleeping, showering, and has basic cooking wares and equipment (if you are like me who cooks every meal then you may want to bring items like seasoning and cooking oil). The bed was too soft for me but those are personal preferences. We did use the hot tub which was a nice addition to have. There are a couple of cute spots on the property to hang out at.

My husband & I were in town for a couple of days to visit our son. While we usually stay at hotels, we decided to rent something more convenient and comfortable. So glad we did! Our host, Arden, could not have been more responsive, kind, and accommodating. The cottage was charming, comfortable , and private. And we particularly enjoyed the hot tub at night which was totally fenced in, secluded, and located directly behind the cottage. We will definitely be booking with Arden again next time we’re in town.
