We take guest feedback seriously and would like to clarify several statements made in this review. Shortly before this guest’s arrival, the refrigerator experienced an unexpected mechanical malfunction, which caused complimentary food & drinks (ice cream and coffee creamers) inside to melt and spoil causing a bad odor and slimy/melted ice cream. The fridge was clean aside from that. As soon as we were notified, we immediately delivered a temporary refrigerator, provided an air purifier to prevent odor from circulating in the home, and arranged for a professional repair that was completed the same evening. The appliance was fully operational within 3 hours of being reported. The baking soda and coffee grounds referenced in the review are commonly used odor absorbers in refrigerators and are kept there intentionally as a routine preventative measure, not as an attempt to "mask" a known issue. Several other claims in the review are inaccurate. The property is maintained and inspected between stays and is regularly used by families. The cabinet, flooring, pergola post, and outdoor items referenced have not been identified as safety hazards in prior stays. Additionally, the statement that the yard contains scrap metal hazards is incorrect, as the yard is maintained and prepared for guests between reservations. During the stay, the guest requested a refund related to the refrigerator malfunction and other "hazards". As with any request, we addressed the issue immediately and resolved the mechanical problem the same day. VRBO has reviewed the full message history and documentation related to this reservation, including their house rule violations and our damage claims against them (that were not mentioned), and ultimately resolved the matter in our favor through their platform after reviewing the evidence we provided. We remain committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained home and to responding quickly to any unexpected maintenance issues so guests can enjoy their stay comfortably.
