About this property

Skagit Valley Lakeview

This unique mother-in-law apartment was renovated with a brand new bathroom and kitchen in the Winter of 2013. The original space was constructed in 1998 and used as a bonus room for friends and family. At the base of the stairs to the apartment is our Desert King fig tree, planted in 2000. Feast on the figs (when they are in season). The Fig Tree Suite Lake View apartment has roughly 600 sq ft with an open studio layout, and sits above a garage looking southwest towards Clear Lake and the Olympic Mountains. You may wake to the sound of a crowing rooster. Ravens, hawks and eagles are common sights from the view off of the balcony. Our resident dog and master of affection is Buddy, and he will certainly do his best to get a belly rub from you. Wifi is available. We have our own laundry room where we can accommodate your light laundry needs. Our location is semi-rural, just 10 minutes from Mount Vernon. This is an ideal location for the outdoor enthusiast with hiking trails and mountain biking trails close by. The location has easy access to the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range, Mount Baker, and Skagit River, as well as La Conner, Deception Pass and the San Juan Islands. Located just 70 miles north of Seattle and 50 miles south of the US/Canadian border in the Skagit Valley. There is plenty of shopping and dining to be enjoyed, numerous art galleries and museums, and local festivals throughout the year, such as the Bald Eagle Festival, Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, the Anacortes Arts Festival. Mount Baker Ski Resort is just an hour away. Head to the San Juan Islands via the Washington State Ferry and tour the islands. After a day of activity, come back to the Fig Tree suite, relax, have a sip and enjoy the view.

Mt Baker Pre Hike Stay
July and Tom were extraordinary host. The property was in excellent condition as we prepared for Mt Baker Summit adventure. July and Tom waited for our arrival and explained everything on the property, took their time to show the property and its functionality. They were very friendly and made us feel like home. We really enjoyed the peace and quite moment. Gave us very good restaurants recommendations in town. We felt very secured and welcomed. Thank You. Definitely will recommend or come back.

A home away from home!
My husband and I loved the Fig Tree Suite! July was very thoughtful and made our stay very comfortable. The pictures do not do it justice! The studio is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Superb place
The Fig Tree is a beautiful property and one of the best VRBO rentals we have ever encountered. It is very well-appointed,, quiet and private, and the hosts couldn't be nicer or more helpful. I enthusiastically recommend the Fig Tree and hope we can return soon.

As hospitable as always
Always a joy to stay at the Fig Tree. The owners are warm and welcoming and always ready to supply whatever you need for an enjoyable stay. The view of the peaceful, placid lake is superb, the bed comfortable and the size of the room ample so one does not feel like you are cramped. This is a welcome retreat to come back to after a day of adventuring in the Skagit Valley region. Top marks again for our hosts!

The Northwest has been home for my husband Tom and I for over 40 years. We are artists by nature, with a great appreciation for the lush beauty and colors that surround our home and property. In his spare time, Tom is an avid backpacker, mountain biker and gardener, and can direct you to some nearby rides and hikes. I am passionate about yoga and I have a small studio on our property. In the winter months I enjoy sewing, baking sour dough bread, and a variety of craft projects. We are excited to have you as our guest, to share the beauty of the Skagit Valley, and perhaps connect with you in your town someday.
