About this property
Waterfront Heron House at Baker Bay Retreat with Sauna, Pier and Large Deck
Perched gracefully on the water’s edge overlooking the serene expanse of Baker Bay, this unique rental blends timeless charm with contemporary luxury. Originally built in the late 1800s, the home has been thoughtfully remodeled to marry modern amenities with antique details.
The Kitchen and Dining Area:
A chef’s kitchen: appointed for both casual family breakfasts and elegant dinner parties, complete with appliances, serving and dining ware and an island with additional seating for effortless gatherings. A small coffee bar is located just across from the oversized refrigerator that is supplied with coffee and a variety of tea and sugars. Anchoring the dining area, which features two floor to ceiling luxury sliding doors—offering full views of Baker Bay, is a magnificent table crafted from the original late 1800’s beams of Heron House, seating up to twelve and lending warm, storied character—an ideal centerpiece for special events, multi-generational trips, or intimate celebrations.
The Living Room:
The cozy living room across from the kitchen island invites gatherings, where the warm glow of the fireplace complements plush seating arranged for groups; a JBL speaker can connect to your device for playing music while a Samsung TV allows you to access your streaming services via Roku. The space includes a coffee table and board games, calling you and your guests to a friendly competition.
The Primary Suite with Office and Bathroom:
Directly off the living room, the primary suite features an en suite office facing the water, appointed with a comfortable couch, a work-ready desk, and a Dutch door opening to the breeze, all set atop refurbished barnwood floors reclaimed from Kentucky; its adjoining spa-like bathroom offers an oversized shower and a soaking tub for ultimate relaxation.
Two twin Bedroom and Bathroom across the Hall:
Down the hall, you’ll find a room with two twin beds and a conveniently located bathroom with a shower across the hall, plus a washer and dryer.
Two Queen Bedrooms with En Suite Bathrooms:
Upstairs feels like stepping back in time—original late-1800s wood floors and carefully restored stained glass doors lend authentic character to two queen bedrooms, each thoughtfully appointed with a private en suite bathroom, complete with a modern shower for comfort. Full waterfront views can be enjoyed from your bed with your morning coffee.
Sauna, Pier and your Nest Neighbors:
Outside, guests enjoy a shared pier with The Nest cottage, perfect for morning coffee or evening sunsets, making this retreat a unique haven where history and comfort meet seamlessly. Heron House guests enjoy exclusive access to a sauna at the water’s edge offering a singular waterfront retreat. Your only neighbors will be cottage guests, or rent the entire property and have the whole cove to yourself!
This property is located in a natural area that is frequently visited by wildlife, mainly deer and racoons, but we have seen a bear or two before. Staying here requires common and good sense.
