About this property

Cozy 2-bedroom retreat in the peaceful woods of Connecticut

Kick back and relax in this serene, stylish lower level of a home with abundant views of nature.

Minutes from Whole Foods, plenty of great restaurants, farms, vineyards, a bookstore, coffee shops, and more. 15 min. from downtown Hartford and halfway between Boston and NYC, this is the perfect artist retreat or getaway from the city.

Gorgeous during peak fall foliage (best apple cider donuts and fritters around). Tall trees, lichen covered rocks, and fluffy white snow in winter! Truly a year-round stunner.

Our home is located in an idyllic part of South Glastonbury, known for farms, rolling green hills, and conveniences like restaurants, shops, amenities in downtown Glastonbury. There’s a small village nearby with a grocery store, post office, nail salon, barber shop, bakery, coffee shop, gas station, and Thai, Mexican, New American and Pizza restaurants.

The vacation space is the lower level / ground floor of the main house. We live upstairs with our 3 year old rescue dog, Momo. There is a door at the bottom of the stairs that helps maintain our and guests' privacy and separates the two floors. The kitchenette you have access to is not a full kitchen. It is a kitchenette with a microwave, air fryer, small fridge, kettle, Keurig coffee maker and hot plate - meant for shorter term stays. There is no dishwasher, no oven, and no exhaust fan in the kitchenette.

We're surrounded by nature and a sprinkling of a few other homes in the neighborhood and are treated to epic sunsets and gorgeous views. We're truly lucky to live here and would love to share the natural beauty of Connecticut with our guests.

Loved staying at this beautiful spot. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet with large rooms. Nestled in the woods with beautiful views of the woods. A nice hiking trail nearby really capped off our stay. Winnie was amazing and pulled together an excellent information sheet showing all there is to do in the area as well as in Hartford. We will be back.

Winnie our host was super friendly and very helpful with any questions we had and recommended some nice places to eat in the area. She was extremely quick with her responses as well. Our experience at the home was amazing and very relaxing. The space was perfect for our family of 4 with plenty of room and all amenities for us. Wish we had more time to enjoy our stay there and will be back if am ever in the area!

It was a clean and peaceful environment in a quiet wooded area, that made for a wonderful stay. The living room area is nicely spacious and the decor of the apartment was welcoming and stylish. Winnie and Rahul were very kind and attentive hosts throughout the stay. Even though there was a kitchenette, it was well equipped enough for us to cook meals and enjoy time together at the space. We enjoyed the bathroom space, with a double sink and lovely bath. We came with our 3 year old son who loved interacting with the hosts, and enjoyed playing outside in the snow!Beautiful place to stay!

Great host, clean lovely place. Just wish I had read more closely to see that there wasn’t a full kitchen. We were planning to cook for the weekend.

I'm a New England transplant after spending most of my life in California. Professionally, I'm a former film producer who landed the coolest job in Connecticut as the marketing and communications director at a nonprofit arts organization and arthouse theater called Real Art Ways. In my limited but spare time, you can find me trying to find best outdoor pools, catching the latest film festival, and spending all my hard earned money on road trips and experiences with my partner Rahul and our rescue pup Momo.

Why they chose this property

It's so woodsy and peaceful. The views are stunning. We are minutes from all the conveniences of living near town...but have tons of privacy, nature, and space. You have to drive on half a mile of gravel road to get to our house. This gives us the feeling of being transported into the forest, and physically and mentally leaving the busy-ness of daily life behind. There are walking trails and streams in the neighborhood - ask us about them!

What makes this property unique

The house is very cozy and comfortable and feels like a sanctuary or retreat space, especially during the winter months. It is an Acorn Deck House, built with sustainability and mid-century modern architecture principles.
