Bunya House was like a stately family home. We all felt immediately comfortable. Very spacious, lots of interesting artifacts, comfortable living and bedrooms , quirky kitchen, beautiful bathroom. The position of the house showed off the lovely surrounds of Bowral. We can't wait to book again for another family gathering.
A great house! A real step back in time…Kitchen is tiny but well equipped! There is a bath but no hot tub as the ad suggests. The owners literally live beyond a door. So close, it’s as if they’re in the next room. For that reason, it doesn’t really feel like you’re renting the entire house. Beds are great-very comfortable. Host is very accommodating.
My husband and I absolutely adored this home, which was warm and cosy, despite the usual cold temperatures in a Southern Highlands' winter.
A gracious old home, with immense charm and character - we will certainly come back to enjoy the property in the summer time.
We loved the comfortable beds, the warmth - and proximity to the Bowral village shops and restaurants.
Adorable!
Only booked 3 days, lockdown came - we extended, not once, but twice.
Had the best time with an open fire, food, wine and a beautiful property.
Camilla was a great host.
A beautiful house and garden set high up on the hill. We especially enjoyed watching the sun go down across the valley from the wrap around verandah with a glass of wine.
Camilla was an excellent host and we think she has the friendliest cat in Bowral!
The house is absolutely stunning, it has so much charm and character, and is super homely. Camilla was a great host, easy to deal with, quick to respond and very welcoming.
Disappointed with the state of the property when we arrived. Appreciate that it is an older period home which is what makes it so beautiful for photos but it was very dusty, bedroom shelves and toys that were left out for children to play with were filthy. We had to wipe down everything before our 18 month old could touch anything. Do not have anyone outside of those registered as guests even come and visit/set foot on the property without informing the owners or you’ll get a scathing visit from the owners as they live on the property. The couches were dirty and stained in the lounge room and covered with old bed sheets so not sure if they were even useable. Lots of the owner’s personal pictures on the walls and clothing in their drawers and wardrobes. Apparently the owners live in the home when it is not in use but this should’ve been clearly stated as there is no way you would expect to use the whole place comfortably, particularly if you wanted to unpack your things and use the wardrobe space. I stayed here on the eve of my wedding with my parents and had a very uncomfortable sleep due to the musty smell of the house and the dust. Again some beautiful pre-wedding pictures were taken but it was definitely not a pleasant stay. The
So relaxing, quiet yet within a few minutes to central Bowral.
Such a stylish, sympathetic renovation of a lovely old house.
The gardens a beautiful the owners have great taste the decor is georgeous. We loved the fire (to lazy to set the wood fireplace) so we used the gas instead.
Pefect in every way
This property is one in a million. The historic quaintness hits you when you walk in, yet it is beautifully renovated to cater for all needs. The fireplace during winter is the crowd pleaser, and fire wood never runs out. Camilla as a host is so generous to ensure you have a great stay, and a great stay we sure did have.
Highly recommend and we will all be back!
Our stay at Bunya House was magical on so many levels it's hard to know where to start! This exquisitely-decorated home radiates guests the love which has been lavished on it by its owner/our host, Camilla, and her family. The interior decor would not be out of place in an interior design magazine, yet it is not at all remote or stuffy - just next-level gorgeous. Nothing has been overlooked, right down to the marshmallows ready to add to a hot chocolate sipped in front of the fire (or the high quality wine glasses for that sneaky red!) Beautifully-designed gardens make a sunny breakfast coffee on the verandah a delight ... and if you are taking a romantic getaway, don't miss the massive clawfoot tub big enough for two (although the hot strong shower is equally delightful). The only drawback to our stay was that one night just wasn't quite enough ... and we will be remedying that with a return visit next time we look for the perfect place to relax, reconnect and recharge! Bunya House (and its hosts) are definitely the creme de la creme!
Wow.. Couldn’t ask for more for a relaxing weekend getaway. Bunya cottage is absolutely beautiful - so much thought has gone into the design and interiors. The house very clean and has everything you need from the well equipped kitchen, cosy fire place (we used the gas fire place in the lounge) and the house if very well equipped for kids - our little one loved the trampoline.
Bunya House manages to be the perfect blend of a homestead-style property but within easy walking distance to all that Bowral has to offer. The house is gorgeous, set in beautiful gardens, with the interiors accenting the heritage characteristics whilst providing every modern comfort. We visited in winter - you've got to love a well-laid fireplace, and under-floor heating in the bathroom. Camilla was an extremely gracious hostess; really friendly and available but also extraordinarily discreet. We'll definitely be back: often. 5 stars <3
