This location is awesome for the price.The penthouse is an experience, a spacious studio in a safe area with a private elevator. It’s close enough to Uber everywhere you need. When returning after dark, a security checkpoint stops cars to verify you belong. It’s somewhat far from the beach (plan to bring a day bag to visit & swim), but close to great shopping centers like Jockey plaza. The main host contacted me before I was in country and gave some great tips on the best route from the airport. The on-site caretaker was responsive, getting back to WhatsApp within a few hours. They mainly spoke Spanish, so be prepared to translate if you don’t speak it. We had some issues working the TV, but the caretaker helped.The basic soaps didn’t include conditioner or laundry soap so keep that in mind. (Unless they keep the detergent I bought, for others). The jacuzzi took time to fill so plan in advance, but hot water pressure was fine for showers. Toilet paper refills provided (don’t flush the TP), but we had to buy paper towels after the 1st roll. Peru doesn’t have kleenex. We took our trash down to the street every couple days.The “Mountain View” is not great, you mainly see other buildings, but the property is nestled in the foothills of the mountains.One of the days the elevator was worked on. They did it during the day, so most people may be out at that time, but I’d recommend they schedule loud work for times when no one is renting the room.4/5 would stay again!

A taste of Spain in the hills of Surco, Lima, Peru

The building itself is lovely on the exterior. You are greeted by a quaint fenced-in courtyard. Once inside, an beautiful interior fountain is the central focus (although not in operation at the time). The condo unit is up 5 flight of stairs. It has all of the amenities that you would need, and the hot tub was a godsend on those cold, Peruvian winter evenings. The Queen-sized pull-out sofa is really only suitable for one person to sleep on. The other half is based on two ottomans set together, with hard wood in between. If you are there during the winter months as we were, you'll need to dress appropriately, as there is no heat in the unit and the dampness is pervasive. The unit and the public spaces of the building were neat and tidy, and quiet. We really enjoyed the Spanish style of the building and the unit. The surrounding area was quite noisy, however. We were kept awake on different nights by Independence Day celebrations (expected, but maybe not expected until 3am), and outdoor karaoke (completely unexpected). We were both kept awake, and then later woken up but various dogs barking and car alarms going off in the nieghbourhood, and also jack-hammering, as there is much housing construction nearby. We remedied this with the purchase of ear-plugs, which I highly recommend. The landscape and architecture are such that sound really carries, and actually seems to amplify. There are some shops and restaurant within about a 35 minute walk (or short Uber ride). The return trip is essentially all uphill, which is great exercise. There are a couple of small convenience shops within a short walking distance that you can purchase water, snacks, some fruit and other basics from. The owner as well as the property manager were very kind and helpful, and truly went out of their way to greet us at a rather ungodly hour of the morning. Marcelo provided us with recommendations for grocery shopping, restaurants and some local attractions, which we happily took advantage of. All in all, we enjoyed our stay. It felt like a safe community, and we had no issues walking around and exploring the area.

We are very glad to have recieved Sandy & husband as guest for 2 main reason... they were our Olimpic Family of the Panamerican Games celebrated in Lima on those days & they were very good guest. Its a bless & a curse that they experience the 1 week holiday given by the goverment to the people of Peru... for the 2 great events The Panamerican Games opening (First time that Peru host an event of such magnitud) & the Independance Day... frm 26 to 31... was a looong holiday week celebration like never before. The sad part as Sandy explained is that they were expecting a quite time.... but couple of neighbors on each side of my property decided to celebrate the holiday week with a party... the dogs got excited, their guest cars alarms went off Im sure... & one of them even pull out their karaoke to their terrace. In normal circumstances the neighborhood in that area is a lot more quite that most parts of Lima... since mainly the people who comes in... is people that live there. Thetes is only 2 entrances in the community. "The Sofa Queen Size Bed"... is never as comfortable as a regular bed for some people & is put it together by big square cushions boxed by a padded wood around. I feel bad that the operation of the Fountain in the central atrium of the building didnt match Sandy's schedule. The fountain operates 3 hrs early in the morning & frm 7pm till 10 pm. Other than that. . Sandy & husband were great guest in every sense of the word. We welcome them anytime & any other guest.... I highly recommend to read throughly the description of my property.
