I am a born German, but a Capetonian at heart. I moved here some years ago for work and fell in love with the city immediately - with its people, its lifestyle, the waves, the mountains and the sun. I'm a postdoctoral researcher in art and design with the University of Johannesburg, so I'm travelling a lot. When I'm in Cape Town, I try to catch waves as often as possible, love to explore the street food markets and coffee places, and try to enhance my knowledge about South African red wine ;-) I enjoy hosting people from all over the world at our place and make everyone fall in love with this magical place!

You are located in De Waterkant with its trendy restaurants and coffee shops. The best local designers are situated in this area and you can spend days strolling around in the streets, on the search for your favorite upmarket furniture shops, designer boutiques and bars and restaurants. The Cape Quarter is an amazing little shopping mall with cute designer shops, supermarkets, a pharmacy etc; it is only a 5 minute walk away from your apartment. Cape Town's new hotspot, the Silo District is only a 10 minute walk away. Don't miss out on a sundowner in one of the rooftop bars and definitely visit the MOCAA, the new flagship museum for contemporary African art! The V&A Waterfront is just next doors - you won't get bored here, that is for sure. The Silo District, the V&A Waterfront and De Waterkant will keep you busy for weeks if you want to explore all the amazing food and shops that you find in this area. But also have a look around: You are a 10-minute walk away from hip Bree Street and Loop Street and the nightlife neighborhood of Long Street. You'll find the trendiest bars, coffee shops and restaurants right here - and by the way, Cape Town is famous for its love of good food and its passion for coffee and craft beer! When you walk to Bree Street, make sure to walk through historic Bo-Kaap, formerly known as the Malay Quarter, which overlooks the entire city. Bo-Kaap is famous for its brightly coloured homes and cobblestoned streets. The multicultural vibe of the quarter is unique, a little walk here will tick one box of your sightseeing bucket list! Busy Greenmarket Square is a 20-minute walk away. During the day, you are absolutely safe to walk in the area. It's worth exploring the city from here - the location is truly perfect to dive into the different shades of urban culture that form the Design Capital of the World from 2013!
