We enjoyed our stay at Coomalie very much. With adult children in Melbourne and Sydney and with us travelling from Perth we decided to stay altogether in the Yarra Valley. Badger Creek was the perfect location, close to Healesville and the beautiful bushland. The house was also perfect, comfortable with space and privacy for everyone. It was very cold but once we had enough wood for the fire we were able to keep it cosy. Thanks very much Lisa.
What an incredible paradise. So green and luscious, yet the architecture of the house is so stylish and cool.
It was the perfect location for our family getaway :)
The property is huge and beautifully tucked away in nature. If the stay is during the cold months, it's recommended that those who love a fireplace take firewood, and don't forget the essentials to start the fire. Our group loved the place and would like to suggest that the host provide essentials like kindling, matches, or a fire starter kit to make things simpler, as these items are easily forgotten when we are packing for a weekend away.We would definitely consider returning to the property in the future for another weekend away from Melbourne.
Firstly - OMG the showers are AMAZING. (Sorry, the guys insisted that went first...!)
My mates and I (four males in our mid-40s) get together like this every 9 months or so, have done for years, pandemics notwithstanding; we all agree this was the best place we've yet stayed at.
Hard to describe it succinctly as it's so unique, both architecturally and as a living space. It's a long way off the beaten track so wonderfully private; we had a few musical instruments with us and made a bit of noise but doubt anyone heard a thing.
Three of the rooms are enormous; the fourth has bunks so plenty of room for a decent-size family, maybe even two families (if the kids are all willing to share a room). One room downstairs has its own bathroom; the three others upstairs all share the main bathroom.
The stonework is incredible, as all the other reviews note - really extremely impressive - but the obvious downside is that it's hard to keep warm in the depths of winter when we were there. The air con & space heaters help, but all but one fireplace (in the kitchen) are off limits. We also ran out of firewood about a day before our stay ended, which was a little disappointing.
The TV is a good size, the couches & chairs are very comfy. The kitchen is a good size too and fairly well equipped, nice big fridge which isn't always a given. The bathrooms are beautiful and the showers OMG the showers...!!
Great communication from the hosts, they were very accommodating and quick to reply.
Thanks again for having us!!
Coomalie House was the perfect place to escape from the city after 9 months in lockdown. Beautifully designed built and maintained home surrounded by native gardens with stunning array of bird life throughout the day. Great kitchen and the space to relax and unwind indoors and out. Thanks to Lisa and Tim for sharing this very special home with us.
Great tranquil environment good for groups or couples weekends away.
Quiet and happy stay at Coomalie. Could with some homey additions such as a coffee maker/ plunger with coffee provided, soap in all bathrooms and better quality towels. But very comfortable
