Situated in the private, gated, 12-acre rancho escondido retreat near lo de marcos (an hour north of puerto vallarta), hacienda antigua is an exquisite luxury property overlooking the ocean and jungle. Hacienda Antigua is only minutes away from your usual tourist destinations. But when you arrive, it feels a world apart. A depiction of sustainable design, the hacienda antigua was constructed mainly of historic materials recovered from mexican haciendas and churches too old to restore. Ancient stone, wood, and iron building materials along with antique furnishings were hand selected to add character and history, evoking the feel of a genuine hacienda during the post-classic era in the bahía de banderas region.

With up to eight private suites (including a penthouse suite with a private patio), a gourmet commercial kitchen, and a 40’ heated pool accented with traditional talavera tile and venetian glass, hacienda antigua is luxury redefined. It is the perfect place to relax with family and friends! Entertain in the authentic mexican cantina that opens up to a 1,000 square foot veranda. Gorgeous Spacious Property!

We had a wonderful stay at Hacienda Antigua. This place is great for large groups and has a beautiful pool. We had delicious meals made by Arciella and her crew. Just on a side note, be aware that this incredible home is located in a bit of a remote area, so it’s impossible to avoid bugs on the premises. Transport to and from the airport and Sayulita is easy. Thank you for a lovely and fun vacation!

Amazing location for a group vacation!

We stayed at the location with a group of friends and family to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The house was amazing and very comfortable for our group of 11 adults. The pool and outdoor areas are beautiful! The house is gorgeous and the views (especially at sunset) are fantastic! You will need transportation as house is a little secluded. It's a quick drive to the local beach of Lo De Marcos and about a 20 minute drive to Sayulita. We had the staff cook breakfast and the food was fantastic! Overall, the host and staff were attentive, helpful and considerate. I'd recommend staying here and would definitely go back!

Stunning property

We took our family including grandchildren here for 11 days and it was absolutely wonderful! Every nook and cranny of the hacienda was a treat for the eyes with all the little details in the design a wonder to behold. The pool was used continuously and the manicured lawn was a lush bed for yoga. Arcelia and her helpers, as well as the house staff were amazing. The only thing of note was that three suites were under the palapa and down a flight of stairs from the house, which posed a bit of a problem for baby monitors. We made it work and a great time was had by all. Thanks Kelley for sharing your home.

New Years Week

Hacienda Antigua was the perfect place for a family vacation. A group of 14 went to celebrate our mother’s 70th birthday. The house was as advertised and much more. Every night there are breathtaking sunsets from the pool and expansive lawn. Our kids loved the pool and the outdoor living experience. Kelley the owner is easy to communicate with and prompt. During the stay Gabriel the manager had everything we asked for and helped to arrange two excursions. The house staff Dora, Corina and Jose were excellent and friendly. Within a short drive are excellent beach’s and quaint towns to explore. Our favorite was San Franscisco. A must is to have Arcelia come in and cook for your group. Her prices are excellent and her food was restaurant quality. She cooked for us 5/6 nights we were there and everyone was disappointed on the night she did not. She and her crew are friendly and accommodating to anything you ask for. Overall the Hacienda is a cannot miss great vacation. Thank you Kelley for a wonderful trip.

A Piece of Heaven in Mexico

The hacienda was even more striking than shown in the pictures. The decor was awe inspiring. It provided excellent accommodation for our entire family over the christmas holidays. There were 7 adults and 2 children and all their needs were excellently cared for. The professional kitchen afforded us a fantastic opportunity to test our culinary skills. The local food was plentiful and inexpensive. The well maintained pool provided a wonderful reprieve from the sunny weather and the kitchen help was friendly and professional. The grounds and the surrounding hillsides were breathtaking. The sunsets over the ocean were incredible. All in all a perfect vacation spot that I highly recommend for a large family vacation.

We can't begin to express what a wonderful experience we had. From our initial email inquiry to our arrival to our stay to our departure, every aspect was top notch. Kelley was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the booking process and prepping us for our arrival. Gabriel was so gracious and welcoming. The hacienda itself is spectacular to say the least. Every square inch is inspired and the detail put into this very special place is absolutely incredible. As stunning as the photographs are, one must really experience this place themselves. If you are looking for a once-in-a-lifetime trip away from crowds, stay here. You are truly away from it all. We did manage to pry ourselves away to go explore Sayulita and San Pancho. Both towns are magical in their own ways. We will definitely be planning a return visit. Thank you for everything!

Simply amazing!

Staying here is more like staying in your own personal boutique hotel with better amenities (breakfast and house cleaning daily), beautiful lighting and decor, and ample space. Each day is a new surprise, view, or thoughtfully decorated nook perfect for your morning coffee or watching the sun set with a margarita in hand. We were a party of 10 with 4 children 10 to 3 years old and the estate was magical to them. A lawn to run on, a salt water pool, hammocks for lazy games of Uno, and huge tables for family dinners. We hired a local chef for lunch and dinner, a masseuse and had a private tequila tasting all at the hacienda arranged by Gabriel, who was wonderful. The hard part was actually tearing ourselves away from the estate to explore. It was close enough to the bustle of Sayulita, but less than a 5 minute drive to the beaches of lo de Marcos for sunset swims and excursions to La Chacala and San Francisco. We are already talking about reconvening here for next Spring break as any destination we pick next is guaranteed to fall short. Whoever built the hacienda was deliberate on how it would affect you. A perfect destination where memories are made.

Amazing Home!

We had an amazing time at Hacienda Antigua. We stayed for two weeks the house is exceptional and the attention to detail is incredible. All of our guests had a great time, Dora and Hellica were so cordial and did a great job with the breakfast and keeping the house tidy. Gabrielle is such a professional, anytime we requested anything he was so prompt. Would definitely recommend our friends or anyone to experience Hacienda Antigua.

BEST TRIP EVER!

We try to travel a lot-- and we usually travel with our friends and our children, which makes us pay attention to the "little things" when it comes to accommodations and amenities--and Hacienda Antigua is by far the best property we have had the pleasure of visiting! The place itself is astonishingly beautiful. From the architecture and decor to the landscape and the location--perched on a bluff with an uninterrupted view of the ocean on one side and a lush canopy of vegetation from the other perspective--it was truly breath-taking. Each suite is decorated in such an authentic, old-world Mexico style. One glimpse around and it makes you appreciate the beauty and historic value of the local culture. And the people are amazing! The concierge service is excellent: prompt, friendly, and so helpful. We opted to get a few meals catered in addition to the wonderful breakfasts and welcome meal they provide free of charge, and we even saw the catering staff at the local market stocking up on the freshest ingredients for our meal later! The property and the local community have a great relationship, as was apparent by the friendly, inviting manner in which everyone treated us. It's really nice to walk around the nearby towns of Lo de Marcos and Sayulita, and enjoy the uncrowded, pristine beaches and exceptional shopping. From the people and the place to the food and the activities, this is the best place to vacation ever!

Exquisite Property and stay at Hacienda Antigua!

Hacienda Antigua exceded my expectations in every way possible! We stayed there for a week in February and could not have been more pleased with the property, staff, food and overall experience. Dora's margaritas were amazing, every sunset was breathtaking, the house was beautiful and the staff was professional and tended to our every need. It was relaxing and felt as if we were staying in our own private hotel. I will definitely go back soon!

Memories for a lifetime!

I should have written this review several months ago. I booked Hacienda Antigua and 2 adjacent villas for my wedding last October. Kelley worked with me to book all 3. She was kind, patient and provided prompt responses to any questions we had. On arrival to the Hacienda it was even more beautiful then we anticipated. Every bedroom has it's on distinct persona and every bathroom is an architectural wonder. The whole place is an architectural wonder. The common area (if one can really call it common) is perfect for a large group to congregate. The pool is stunning and the place to be! We enjoyed it morning noon and night. The grounds are green and beautifully groomed and perfect place for a small wedding and reception. All of our guests were in 7th heaven. The staff especially Gabriel were great. They quietly went about their work keeping the house immaculate. They were kind enough several mornings to watch our 3 children all under 4 while my nieces enjoyed their breakfast. They did this without us asking. I very much want to return as does many of my family and I know we will. The Hacienda Antigua is so beautiful GO!

We travel frequently and stay in beautiful places. This tops them all! The authenticity of the pieces in the house, the location, the wonderful staff, the town and beautiful beach, the views, the food, the privacy and the attention to detail are all spectacular. The best part was working with Kelley who was so helpful and kind during the booking process. I have recommended this place to all of my friends and colleagues. (Something I rarely to never do.). We had such a wonderful vacation here. --One of our top three and that includes luxury resorts in Europe and Hawaii. You will be thrilled and will want to go back when you're in need of true decompression and relaxation.

Luxury meets value - we were spoiled here!

This was our 5th trip to this part of Mexico but first time at Hacienda Antigua. We went together with 4 other couples so the shared cost was extremely affordable. The house the most luxurious accommodation we have stayed in. The architecture and decoration is simply stunning. The set up is perfect for larger groups. Easy to get privacy in the secluded suites yet many great areas to lounge and socialize in. Staff was there everyday making breakfast and cleaning. They all were very helpful and friendly. It felt more like a B & B than a vacation rental with the all the daily attention we received. The property manager was also very prompt with any emails and checked on us regularily. Despite being off the beaten path we felt very safe and secure. There a two heavy, automatic gates coming into the property plus staff nearby almost all the time. Definitely recommend a rental car from Gecko – they are a headache-free rental company (Canadian owned and operated). It was very easy to zip around to the small surrounding towns or to the beach. Anyone with a driver’s license was automatically insured on the vehicle with Gecko’s policy so we all shared the vehicle. We saw more in two weeks during this stay than the past 4 trips combined. The luxury and so many little extra’s you get with this home make it a rental you can’t go wrong with. Thank you Frank, Kelley and Gabriel!!

Hacienda Antigua

What an experience... the place is spectacular, very very well appointed with a great staff. I loved starting my days by waking up in the mornings and drinking my coffee by the pool with the ocean view. So much is near by, great restaurants in the fun little towns along with cool bars, and all the outdoor adventures. So many nice locals. An excellent place for a group/family retreat. Having a car might be easier but not required. This place gives you a fantastic Mexico experience.

Hacienda Antigua

My time at the Hacienda Antigua was everything I thought it would be and more! From paddle boarding at the beach, to zip lining through the heart of the jungle, the fun never ended! The Hacienda Antigua is in close proximity to all that Mexico has to offer, so it is easy to spend more time having fun and less time commuting. Also, I loved the fact that it was nothing like staying at a packed hotel filled with tourists. Staying here was more of an experience than it was a place to rest my head at night. Going through the local village and seeing the beautiful sunset on the horizon made staying here feel like a genuine experience. Being close to the beach, shops, and real Mexican food is also a plus! The service given by the cleaners and maintenance personnel was a class act and the chef was world class. I would recommend staying at the Hacienda Antigua without a doubt. It was one vacation that I will never forget.

Paradise in Riviera Nayarit!

This vacation rental is everything you could ever ask for. You are 5 mins from everything your heart desires! Beaches, zip lining, and big surf(if you're up for it!) or shops, restaurants on the beach and small waves for the family. This property is really well done, bedrooms lining the pool and a master to die for. Sunsets from this location are beautiful! We had a group of twelve and were well taken care of....the chef and cleaning personal were top notch! They are there to fulfill your every wish! What a great get away, we will be visiting again soon! A true gem of the Nayarit!

Amazing 5 star experience!

Amazing is all I can say. My jaw dropped when I first entered Antigua! The property is beautiful. All of the historic materials and art are so cool and authentic. The private suites are all amazing and totally unique. I stayed in the suite with the outside bath and shower overlooking the jungle. It is the perfect place to relax with family and friends! Movie set perfect location!

We stayed at this amazing hacienda in early April 2014. The weather was beautiful, but the house was incredible. It includes all the amenities for a perfect high class holiday. The art work and lay out of the house was fabulous. Yes we were living the dream, if only for a short week. The pool area was outstanding, beautiful grounds and lovely area to hang out in the afternoon. The pool was the perfect temp, we have stayed places where the pool was way too cold. All said this home is a must rent! Thanks so much for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful ocean view home

We are native Californians who have traveled extensively to Mexico over the last 15 years. We have created many friendships with the locals who live near the hacienda and every time we visit, we truly feel like we are part of the community.

Why they chose this property

We found the property in 2006 and fell in love with it's out-of-the-way location and expansive ocean views. We wanted to build an authentic hacienda that would fit in seemlessly with the natural beauty of the surroundings. What resulted is the true definition of 'getting away from it all' - pure serenity and an authentic mexican experience!

What makes this property unique

Only minutes away from your usual tourist destinations, when you arrive it feels a world apart. The location is perfect for those who want to get away from it all, but still be close enough to play a round of golf, take a sunset sailing cruise, or dine at an authentic Mexican restaurant!
