We love staying in the Managers Cottage with our little dog. It's especially cosy in Winter, and the private gardens at the Gasworks are always a delight. The welcoming offerings of breakfast bacon, bread, tomatoes, milk and juice are a treat.
Comfortable, character-filled State Heritage cottage and impressive riverbank garden located close to Town Centre. Accommodating and friendly hosts. A good base for exploring a lovely SA town. Recommended.
The cottage was lovely, quaint and very comfortable.
The fresh bread, eggs and OJ was an appreciated nice touch.
Location was really convenient.
Would recommend.

hank you for your lovely review, we love our guests enjoying our property. Hope to see you again one day. Have a safe and wonderful Christmas
We really enjoyed our stay at the Gasworks, with beautiful gardens and a creek to walk next to. Very clean accommodation that was presented beautifully both inside the cottage and out. Would recommend to others.
Lovely cottage in beautiful Strathalbyn. Very nicely furnished.
Great range of goodies provided - coffee, tea, biscuits, bacon and eggs for breakfast etc. - all of which were great-fully accepted.
Hosts were very friendly.
Great location close to the centre of town.
Perfect cozy cottage on scenic grounds and very comfortable - with many locations to sit and enjoy the view. We loved being in walking distance to all of the town’s amenities and the many cafes. Heather and Graham provide a wonderful service. Thank you!

Lovely cottage with serene garden backing onto the river. Host's were warm and welcoming. Convenient location with all essentials for a comfortable stay. This is a restored heritage building, not a modern build. Heaters kept the cottage cosy and warm. Bedding was very clean and comfortable with plenty of extra blankets at hand. A note for the minimalists out there - there were a lot of extra decorator cushions, overhead fabric, table runners and other fabric decor additions that you may find challenging. Free Wifi works but VPN required if you're concerned about security or sensitive data. Shower and water pressure were decent - very hot water for parents to consider. Parking is close but on a busy main road just outside the property entry. Managers Cottage is directly on the right as you enter through the main gates, at the bottom of a very steep driveway so if you're unsteady on foot be sure to request assistance or host permission to park directly outside the cottage to offload. Directly across the road is a well stocked AMPM fuel station selling all basics and hot food, ATM & car wash. KFC only 150m down the road. 450m in the other direction is local bakery, information centre and supermarket.

Very comprehensive review and always appreciate useful feedback but I do feel comments re decor being challenging strange and purely personal as the decor is in keeping with the period and is well represented on the photos, so should be no surprises. Driveway is steep but not very and we do allow guests with mobility issues to park near their cottages.
Beautiful location, lovely gardens, cute cottages, picnic and afternoon tea spots, dog friendly, very friendly and passionate hosts, above expectations, lot to see and do, many walks, close to wineries, Haundorf and beach.

Thank you for your lovely words and a safe and Happy New Year and hope to see you again
We've driven this road many a time and never knew this incredible B&B was there. From the greeting we received on arrival and the introduction to the cottage, it was warm and friendly. The cottage itself was immaculate, a snapshot in time. Just the right features to make the stay comfortable and not spoil the period appearance. We only had a two day break but left feeling refreshed, and the breakfast was awesome.

Thank you for your lovely review, this means so much to us. We were still reeling from a not so great review where the guests obviously wanted a more modern accommodation (you can't please everyone). We want to do homage to the fact the property is over 150 years old so your comments were very welcome making us feel we right sticking to way we do things and are doing right by the history without compromising on our guests comfort. Thank you
We stayed in the Managers Cottage for three nights, cottage is really nice with heritage styling. We would have stayed in the bedroom with the four poster bed but the bed was so noisy As soon as you sat on it it was really creaky, we decided to use the other bed to save being woken all night every time we moved. The cottage is located on a main road with semi trailers and all manner of other traffic going past all the time so it is extremely noisy. The gardens however are lovely, just a pity that the serenity is broken by trucks passing by every minute. We did enjoy our stay and luckily the trucks did stop after around midnight so we did get some sleep. The cottage is pet friendly which is great and our dog really enjoyed the area with the lovely garden and the close proximity to the river walking area. You can easily walk to the town centre along the river park area. Overall it is a very nice cottage and garden setting but the noise of the road limits any peace and quiet you might be looking for on a weekend away.

It is with disappointment I read your public review. We spoke with you during your stay and you omitted to mention the bed (now tightened, a simple fix). Unless we are told we are unaware of such issues, luckily there was a second bed for you to use. In regard to the traffic, in over five years of operation you are the only guest upset by the noise. Again if you had mentioned your sensitivity to noise we could have moved you to our Garden Suite Cottage which is farther from the road and therefore quieter. A bad review over items that could have been attended too during your stay is frustrating to say the least, we have been told we are approachable and are proud of our excellent reviews, unfortunately one bad review such as yours is damaging to our business, which is already suffering from a downturn in business due to Covid. Please consider in future engaging with your host and when reviewing consider the impact of your words.
Seamless from booking to departure.
Hosts were amazing. Cottage lovely. Town and walking trails so convenient.
Dog friendly accommodation ensured our stay was stress free.
Property has amazing gardens that get better when it gets dark. Property keeps its cool warmth as walls are so thick. The Breakfast provided was excellent, not continental like most provide. Being in the heart of Strathalbyn means most facilities are just a quick walk away.
