About this property
Newly Renovated Cabin Close to Downtown Chattanooga
Welcome to our newly renovated & custom-built log cabin at the foot of Elder Mountain. Only 7 minutes away from downtown Chattanooga and the fast-growing Northshore. Chattanooga was home to the Iron Man in 2017 and has become an annual event space & home to of many concerts goers, river tourers, & many intellectual foodies. Enjoy hiking, fishing, swimming and much more not only in downtown but on our property too! Nestled in the little town of Lookout Valley, the cabin has its own private pond (private from public but members of our family may be there at times) and cookout area (public). We have two charcoal grills/smokers at the Cabin that are private to you and your family. Our hot tub is open year around & is right off our wrap around deck with easy house to spa access. It is especially pretty at night with the deck string lights shining on the tub! For those of you who are bringing young children, we have a kids corner that is made to feel at home. This cabin has newly purchased patio and indoor furniture and unique custom furniture built by the owner and from wood milled off the property. We can sleep anywhere from 2 to 11 and there is a large newly renovated den downstairs for games or movies. Enjoy special time with family or friends in this one-of-a-kind log cabin. Don't forget to ask about the heartwarming story behind the cabin. PLEASE BE ADVISED THIS CABIN IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WOODS. WE ARE SURROUNDED BY NATURE.

Perfect place to host a group of family and friends. Lots of space and very homey. Close to the city, but out far enough to feel you are in the mountains with city life far away. Loved the set up. Fishing pond was an added bonus. Would definitely book again if ever in Chattanooga again.
We can’t say enough about this cabin! Great place for family getaway! Hot tub, lake, fishing, canoe, and a very large fire pit! Conveniently located less than 10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga! The host were absolutely sensational! They went out of their way to accommodate our family. Will definitely stay there again if in the Chattanooga area. We highly recommend this home!
This cabin ticked all our boxes with beds for everyone, and a table that seats 10 for game time. Our family loves playing games together. It was a little cold for boating, but we enjoyed a walk around the pond. We appreciated the owner for having everything ready for a campfire with firewood and a starter so we could share ghosts stories with smores. Thanks!
The Christmas decorations around the house were everyone's favorite part! We were not given enough toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, or towels for 10 people for 3 nights. The listing was accurate, and the communication from the owner was good regarding the broken gas heating (we had electric heaters as backup, which worked well!) We were, however, disappointed with the lack of locks on the doors into the house; all the chains were non-functional, the deadbolt was broken, and we did not feel as safe as we would have hoped. There were some cleanliness issues and a broken side table when we arrived, BUT the beds were comfortable, the hot tub was working, and the location was convenient (expect rough terrain getting in and out of the property), and we would happily stay here again!
The heater didn’t worked, but there were space heaters out. The place has an odor that cause my sinuses to act up. The place didn’t look clean. I have pictures to support this. The deck has a rotten place. Over all it was live able but not what we were hoping for after reading the description on the property. I wouldn’t go back to this cabin but understand why some people might. The people were nice enough when we reached out to them. Thanks
My sisters, daughter and I had a great time in Chattanooga. We were only at the cabin two nights so did not get to really “scope” out the area. The beds snd furniture were comfortable. Only bad things that happened were a mouse was in the kitchen, a toilet was clogged and coffee grounds were found in the coffee pot when we artived there.
Overall great experience! Some minor issues that were address extremely fast by the owners. Super fast response time. Very quiet and perfect for the family! Thank you so much for your hospitality!
We thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful cabin in the woods, just minutes from downtown. Beds and furniture very comfortable; plenty of space for game nights or outdoor frisbee! The hosts were super helpful in bringing a couple missing items (can’t help thieving guests 😡) and very informative on non touristy adventures! Would recommend this cabin in a heartbeat!
We were pleasantly surprised that the description matched the actual site. You are definitely in the woods, in a cabin and have lots of space inside and outside!
The kids play area was awesome, the beds were all comfortable and plenty of dishes and cookware in the kitchen!
We couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more! The cabin is spacious, yet cozy. The entire property is just simply relaxing and beautiful. The host was very responsive and helpful- we plan to come back next summer! It’s amazing how it’s tucked up in the woods, but a quick 10 minute drive to downtown. We highly recommend this sweet cabin!
The cabin is just as pictured only bigger! Perfect location for local attractions and downtown. There was plenty of room for sleeping, dining and game night, and the kids loved the play area and bunk beds. The access roads are narrow and bumpy but passable. Would definitely recommend!
We stayed in the cabin to visit with family in the area and loved how perfectly the size, bathroom number, and amenities fit our needs. It's really close to the city but far enough away to feel relaxing. It had everything we needed and was a huge space to host birthday and easter celebrations. Would definitely come back!
Lots of space the spread out after a day of exploring. There is a small creek that my kids absolutely loved and a pond very close to the property. 20 minutes or less to Chattanooga and even closer to lookout mountain. Could have spent two weeks here a won’t do the same day twice!
We enjoyed this cabin so much! Plenty of room for our group of 5 adults and 4 kids ages 3-9. The pond provided some great adventures. The location being so close to downtown was perfect. We had some trouble navigating the steep terrain on the neighborhood roads, especially with it raining hard one night created some flooding. It was manageable with our minivan, just had to be careful. Overall, it was wonderful and we would recommend this place for your next family getaway!
This is actually our second time in this particular Cabin with Jason and his sister, Carey’s family Cabin and IT IS WONDERFUL! Our family comes here for our family Christmas as we bring ALL of our gifts and tons of food to have fun and celebrate together for 3 days! The only hard part - is leaving! So , until next year - - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 2024
We had a great stay and enjoyed feeling like being away from town but close enough to enjoy city perks like breweries and restaurants. Love the open floor plan and hot tub!!
Our family came to Chattanooga for Christmas. It was my parents, ages 82 & 83, my daughter & her husband, my sister, her husband & son & their dogs, my husband and me. We lost my 58 year old brother 12/31/21 to a sudden, fatal stroke. My mother said she wanted to go away this year because last Christmas was too sad. Twysted Oak Lodge was perfect! Beautifully decorated for Christmas, so many homey touches and plenty of room for all of us. Jason & Carey have poured so much attention to detail into this beautiful home away from home. We used all the spaces, indoor, outdoor, the huge fire pit…... Thank you for sharing and making us feel so cared for and special!
We rented to celebrate the matriarch's 80th birthday. Loved the location- felt like we were deep in the mountains yet we were 15 minutes from Downtown. Best of both worlds! The cabin was charming and had obviously been recently renovated. The only "ding" was one of the doors on the lower floor were wonky and difficult to close, but we worked around it.
Perfect for our family. We enjoyed the pond, paddle boat and canoe so much. The weather was perfect. Cabin had plenty of room and a pretty well stocked kitchen for cooking. Hot tub was a plus and all of the great outdoor sitting. Great living room for after kids are in bed downstairs to watch a movie together or all just hang out.

About the host
Hosted by Jason and Carey
Hello! Our names are Jason and Carey and we are twin brother and sister! We grew up on this property. Our late grandfather built this cabin in 1986. As kids we camped, hiked, biked, road 4 wheeler's, swam, cooked out and learned life lessons. It has truly been a blessing growing up here. Around 1990, our grandfather started digging for the lake. Some people say it is a pond. We have called it "The Lake" for 30 years. The lake/pond is 1.88 acres. The deepest part is in the middle. There are natural springs on the bottom and we also have water coming in from the creek. The water also flows down a drain pipe and we have an overflow. We grew up swimming in "the lake" so we think it's a little piece of heaven. Some folks don't like swimming where you can't see the bottom or feel a lake weed. We can provide information on other swimming areas. There are paddle boards and a pedal boat.
Why they chose this property
This is family property and a few neighbors that aren't blood related but we all consider each other family.
What makes this property unique
There isn't another place like this property in our area. We have15 acres between the two of us and living so close to the city, we have all the benefits of the city but the serenity of a cabin in the woods.
