Welcome to The Nest – your Northwoods adventure basecamp on 6+ wooded acres. Located <1/4 mile from trail systems with hundreds of miles for snowmobiling, UTVing, cross-country skiing & hiking. Minutes from Eau Claire Lakes Chain fishing. Features 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, washer/dryer, smart TVs (75" living room), heated garage for gear storage. Pet-friendly with dog bed & dishes provided. Enjoy plenty of choices of dining and entertainment in Barnes. We have some of the most delicious Friday fish fries, live entertainment, plenty of bars, taverns, breakfast cafes and a delicious supper club with all you can eat salad bar. The town has Picklebal courts, Tomahawk Lake park has miles of hiking or cross country skiing. Two golf courses, Forest Point and Hidden Greens within 20 minutes. Go kayaking or canoeing down the Brule or tubing down the Namekagon. Shopping and a casino in Hayward. No matter the season, we have something for everyone. We can even arrange a private bus that seats up to 25 of your closest friends to take you anywhere you want to go. Dive bar bus tour? We can help. 1 hour to Duluth, 3 to Minneapolis. Originally from Madison, I met my husband at UW 35 years ago. His family vacationed on Middle Eau Claire Lake and we’ve been bringing our children here for over 30 years. We purchased a “cabin” in 2002 and moved up here permanently in 2022.
Barnes is known for its beautiful clear lakes, friendly people (seriously friendly), golfing, pickleball, and tons of great entertainment. We have live music everywhere at our great bars, taverns and supper clubs. No matter what the time of year there’s always something going on.

Why they chose this property
Whether you want to visit for peace and quiet or you want adventures this is the place. Located on over 6 acres you’ll see wildlife and very few cars. We are a block away from the ATV/Snowmobile trails and 25 minutes to Hayward for the Lumberjack festival or the infamous Birkie.
What makes this property unique
Location, location, location! Set amongst the woods but yet just off Hwy 27. We are one of the only places you can have a Heated Garage! Great perk in the winter to bring in your ice fishing gear, snowmobile gear, skis or snowshoes to thaw out. At over 1,500 sq. ft, the duplex is spacious and inviting. Dogs? We love them. We even have a bed for them!
