Please understand that this is NOT a review of the apartment itself but rather the experience we had with the booking. Less than 24 hours prior to checkin, we were notified (while at the airport) that the apartment was not available due to "technical difficulties" but we would be provided with a "much larger apartment" beginning two days after our arrival date. A long and contentious phone call finally resulted in an agreement of a paid hotel room for the first two nights. Meanwhile, a call to VRBO assured us that we could cancel and find another up to twice the original cost and we would be reimbursed the difference. Sounded good BUT there was absolutely nothing available less than 10 times the cost. We had to accept what was offered. Wasted time at hotel because reservation had been made in the company name not ours. Finally got checked in but were billed 30 euros for city tax which company had not paid. On checkout day, we had to sit in the hotel lobby because there was a 2 hour difference between when we had to check out and could check in. No offer to transport us so uber to new location, 45 euros. New location east of city center required metro everywhere. Apartment damp, no proper bedding, smelled musty despite air conditioning, needed lots of maintainence! Uber to airport higher. Final straw-asked me to pay city tax for this place even though VRBO listing stated "all fees included." Summary: cost us wasted time and extra money for less than pleasant lodging.
