About the host
Hosted by Jennifer Rosecrans
I am a mother of 6 with a career in administrative nursing. When not working at the hospital I am working with my family to grow our environmentally sustainable farm in the heart of North Carolina on our 13th generation farm. We love to travel and normally incorporate our work and/or farming with travel opportunities. Our home in Ocracoke is a newer edition to our family, but our experiences vacationing the island go back 40+ years. Our family is honored to allow other families our homes and such a special vacation spot. We love helping with your vacation time and love hearing about how special your vacation was !
Why they chose this property
On Ocracoke Island, you'll find miles and miles of pristine, undeveloped—and, best of all, uncrowded—beaches for you to enjoy. River was built in the 1990's & The Grey Pearl (the original cottage) was built in 1936 for one of the original families on the island, the Williams family. Very typical of an Ocracoke cottage, River & Pearl are located in the heart of the Village and everything is within walking distance. If you know Ocracoke, you know that houses are almost always in close proximity to each other, Pearl & River are no different, but offers privacy fences and mature trees to give a sense of seclusion from the rest of the island. Many original islanders on don't even know it is there !!
What makes this property unique
There are many things that make River stand out from other Cottages on the island.
*Central location : It is a 3 minute walk to Silver Lake. 4 minute bike ride to the most perfect book store ever- Books to be Red. 3 minute bike ride to Ocracoke Coffee. 6 minute bike ride to Ocracoke Lighthouse. 6 minute walk to the most perfect restaurant ever, Dajiou !!! AND and walk 3 minutes to Zillie's for an evening sip and snack !!!! River has a nautical feel, not only for all of the sailors & oystermen who owned the houses before, but also as an homage to my son who is a Marine and our 2 sons in the Navy.
