If you like being spoiled by expansive, breath-taking ocean views and an ever changing landscape, this is the vacation spot for you. This fabulous, newer upscale home with an open floor plan and a large covered terrace is perfect for small & large gatherings with family and friends. The location provides delightful daytime and night-time breezes and has one of the finest Pacific views available in the exquisitely beautiful Costa Verde Estates. Nestled on the side of the mountain at a 1900' elevation, the ideal temperatures typically range from 75º-85º F during the day and the low-mid 70's at night.

No Air Conditioning needed as the micro-climate in Costa Verde is about 10-15 degrees cooler than at sea level, yet let the sound of the ocean waves breaking a mile below lull you to sleep at night.

Being above the "bugline", year around, we experience almost no biting insects. Daily, you will awaken to the sounds of Toucans, Aracari's and a wide variety of monkeys, birds and other rain-forest animals.

Outdoors and indoors become one with large screened triple sliding glass doors, opening the large interior space to a huge covered terrace. Enjoy all of your meals on the terrace, overlooking the 50' lap pool and the spectacular view of the Whales Tail and beautiful coastline. The pool also includes a half-moon shallow area for your lounging enjoyment. Several pool floats are available for guest use.

The main house features beautiful, exposed, wood-beamed, high ceilings & tile floors throughout, and includes the following:
Great Room with fabulous open space, comfy seating, media center with large flat screen TV;
Well-equipped Gourmet Kitchen with center island, SS appliances, granite counters w/seating for 4;
Master suite with a pillow top queen-size mattress, large wardrobe, sliding door to the covered terrace, en suite full bath with both an inside and outside shower;
Guest Bedroom with a queen-size bed and bunk beds, sliders to enjoy the ocean view and gardens, clothing cubbies plus an adjacent full bath with walk-in shower.
Office with broadband Wifi and a large desk can also serve as a 4th bedroom with an extremely comfortable queen-size sofa bed.

A separate Guest House, allowing guests to enjoy their privacy, has a queen size bed, clothing cubbies, a private en suite bath with outdoor shower. Begin your morning listening to the birds singing, the waves lapping, while enjoying spectacular views of the Whales Tail and Pacific Ocean, either from your bed or your own covered terrace.

Lush colorful gardens surround the house and provide a tranquil, nature-filled setting for your dream vacation getaway.

Sol y Mer Guidelines: Pool – No glassware in the pool area. If broken glass were to get in the pool, it would have to be drained, cleaned and refilled with 30,000 gallons of water and more than 1500 lbs. of salt, after which it would take 6 mos. to stabilize. Please return the floats to the garage or the shade when you’ve finished with them for the day. Please do not take them off the property or leave them sitting in the sun.Please be sure to shower thoroughly before entering the pool. I’m sure you hope everyone else does as well. E-coli is no one’s friend. Screens - Feel free to keep them open during the day. Close them as soon as the sun goes down and lights go on. We advise against leaving the front door open. Smoking – Permitted only outside. Towels, Sheets, Laundry, etc. Please do not put sandy towels into the wash without drying them out first (not in the dryer) and shaking out the sand. Do not bleach any of OUR linens or towels. Bleach is provided as a convenience only for your own items. On Departure Day please be caught up on all dirty laundry except for the sheets and towels used this day. Do not leave wet towels in a pile. They will quickly smell and rot and have to be replaced. If this happens, the cost will be deducted from your security deposit. Hang them inside on the towel bars or outside on the railings. Please run the dishwasher before you depart. Furniture, etc. Please do not rearrange the furniture. use the coasters provided and take care with the finished wood surfaces. Please treat our house as if it were yours (unless you trash yours, in which case, please don’t trash ours☺). Beach Chairs & Boogie Boards: There are 5 beach chairs and 2 boogie boards provided for your enjoyment. They are in the garage. Please return them to the garage. DO NOT EVER LEAVE THEM, OR ANY OF YOUR ITEMS UNATTENDED AT ANY COSTA RICA BEACH. Also, never park your car unlocked or with anything of value in view anywhere. This is a third world country and the thieves are incredibly resourceful; they can spot a rental car coming 10 km in the distance. That said, we have never been the target of thieves, but know people who have. Please always rinse off with the hose by the garage when returning from the beach. Do not shower off the sand, as it will clog the septic field. Please never sit on the interior furniture in wet clothing or bathing attire. NO PETS - House to be used by only those specifically listed on the rental contract. Violation will result in immediate termination of agreement without refund

Sunrise and sunset views not to be believed

We just finished a very, very lovely week at this mountain getaway. The house was perfect - plenty of space for our family of five with room to spare. Our college-age son really appreciated having the private guest house all to himself. The pool is gorgeous -you could sit out there all day and just drink in the ocean views. The house was nicely furnished and very well-equipped for hanging out and cooking meals. We especially enjoyed working as a family on one of the many puzzles and playing Bananagrams - It was a great time for the kids to reconnect with each other. Each day we woke up to the sunrise view and a variety of birds including a toucan, a mot mot, crested guan, tanagers and so much more. Even a capuchin monkey visited one day as well. On our walks around the mountaintop we saw howler monkeys, a peccary and coati. It was a wonderful place to get in touch with nature. It felt very secure and peaceful. The owner was so easy to arrange things with and has a wonderful packet for renters with all of the information you would need.

Awesome Getaway/Adventure/Relaxation Spot- Would do it again!

We spent a week here and just could not have been more impressed. As nice as the pictures are, they understate the beauty and serenity of this spot. We found the owner to be more helpful than an on site concierge could possible have been although he was a continent away. Any question was answered. All of his suggested sight seeing excursions were great. All restaurants that he recommended were exquisite and reasonable. It could not have worked out better. We ate out only about half the time because, frankly, it was so pleasant to sit out on that veranda at night overlooking the ocean and do things at our own pace. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 children (boy cousins 13 years old) and had so many things to do, it was hard to choose what to do next, so sometimes we just sat by the pool and chilled. We took advantage of the local food and prepared it in the high end kitchen. Having a guest house on the property was great for 2 separate families such as ours that likes a little of our own space periodically too. The kids loved the outdoor showers and so did the adults. We were so impressed by the kitchenware that we came home and immediately ordered a set of the dishes that the owner has there. Just little touches like this make things very special. The locals were all extremely nice to us and we always felt safe in that area of Costa Rica. There was always something to do if you wanted. In short, it was an adventure none of us will ever forget.

I chose this Villa to experience the rainy season in Uvita. The drive up from the pavement is a 4x4 only route, especially after a shower. I did spend a few days at a time relaxing by the pool and cooking for myself so I did not need to drive to town every day. The Jolly Roger bar is just a couple km down the road and I had many excellent hamburgers there. This house is the best built that I have stayed at in Costa Rica. The privacy in the back is great and from the kitchen or front yard you can wave to neighbors as they pass by the gate. The security is very good due to the distance from town and the security gate for the community. With just the fan on in the bedroom it was very comfortable. The owners are taller than me as the master bath has tall amenities. However the main bathroom was just perfect! Even in the rainy season there were no biting insects to speak of. The house is well laid out and functional for an awesome retreat. Thanks Richard for letting me share your home.

Was perfect for our family vacation!

Great house, great location, very well appointed. From the photos you can see that this is a beautiful home in paradise. What you can't see from the photos is the high quality of finishings and construction as well as the overall cleanliness of the property. We stayed here with our 1.5 and 7 year old children. We had no concerns over security, the water was safe to drink and the home is very clean (we had to keep an eye on on our daughter around the pool of course). As the owner will tell you, a four-wheel-drive vehicle is a must for the drive up the hill from highway to the house (not at all dangerous but takes some time and care). The owner will recommend great restaurants and the local markets and stores will provide whatever you need. We would return without hesitation.

Amazing Property with Insane Views!

Went down to Dominical for our annual surf trip. Upon arrival at the villa we were pretty blown away by the house itself and spectacular views from on top of the mountain. Swimming in the infinity pool was an added bonus. This amazing house made it difficult to leave every day and it's open air layout made it perfect for enterataining. The house is nicely located between Uvita and Dominical with many accessible beaches for surfing. The owner and caretaker were very responsive and helpful in the event we had any questions. Overall we had an excellent vacation and would definitely go back. Thanks!

Pure Paradise!

Costa Rica has become my favorite destination for a tropical escape. This is the first time we rented a home and enjoyed the experience so much, we will be going back again next winter! The house is in a gated community and situated high on the pacific coastline, with 180 ocean views providing the most incredible sunsets every evening. The location is simple to get to and local to restaurants, beaches and the grocery stores. The home is beautifully appointed, with an open, airy living space and gorgeous views from every location. We loved the private outdoor showers off each bathroom. The house was designed with much thought towards visitors whether a few couples vacationing together or a family with young children. We like to eat-in occasionally and prepare our meals rather than dining out every day. We found the kitchen had all the amenities we needed. On the nights we chose to go out, we found many wonderful restaurants very close by. If you wander a little south near the town of Ojochal we would recommend “Exotica” for a great dinner. The menu selections and ambiance are great, as is the owner Lucy! Locally there are challenging hikes to take or just relaxing strolls near the house. The nearby beaches are beyond description and each has it’s own character whether a secluded cove with caves filled with rushing ocean water or more public ones with restaurants and vendor markets to stroll through while on the beach. Our favorite was Playa Hermosa, where we would buy the best cup of ceviche to eat while watching the surfers. Manuel Antonio National Park is less than an hour away and simply unbelievable; it was also just rated in the top 25 beaches in the world by Trip Advisor!

Mountaintop Home-Away-From-Home in Paradise

This vacation rental is perfect: amazing views, elegant and spacious house, gorgeous pool and outside spaces. Great balance of providing everything you need to feel like you’re at home, without ever feeling like you’re in someone else’s home. We were a big group, but never felt on top of one another, because there was plenty of room to spread out. I loved the guesthouse for some extra privacy. You will never get tired of waking up and looking out at that incredible view—always changing, beautiful, and so relaxing! Some days, it was hard to want to leave the house because it was so nice just staying up there and taking it all in. When you do head down to sea level, you’re right in the thick of lots of good restaurants and magnificent beaches. And then, after a good day of surf lessons or hiking, you'll find you just can’t wait to pick up some fresh fish and head back up to watch the sunset from your mountaintop home-away-from-home. Perfect!

Paradise Found

Costa Rica is a paradise and this place embodies it perfectly. The beaches are within minutes for the house where warm ocean water and great surf awaits! Breath-taking ocean views, glorious sunsets and star studded nights make it easy to unwind. There are plenty of wonderful places to eat out however,the chef's kitchen is a treat! The house is meticulous, well equipped and left this guest wanting for nothing. Zip-lining, the National Park and lingering pool-side at the villa makes me want to return soon.

This is a luxurious retreat with amazing views. It is exactly as photographed, a perfect gem!

We enjoyed a terrific vacation here. The house is newly constructed with every amenity. The location is convenient to many activities, including snorkeling, hiking, boating, fishing, you name it! As active as you can be here, my favorite activity was sitting by the pool and looking at the Pacific Ocean as the sun sets. Never seen any sunset as beautiful! This is a perfect vacation spot…not to be missed!

I escaped North east snow with a girlfriend for 6 wonderful days in heaven

Needed an escape from work and cold weather traveled for my first visit to Costa Rica with best friend (girl's getaway). So peaceful and beautiful. The only sounds were birds, cicadas, monkeys, wind and rain (only at night). Glorious infinity pool (50' long), gorgeous views. House only one year old was immaculate. Amazingly stocked kitchen as owner must be a great cook.i stayed in guest house steps away. An adventure driving up steep primitive road to the house. Need a 4 wheel drive but it was fun! Not isolated as is in a gated development. Felt very safe. Enjoyed snorkeling and Ziplining. Food and casual restaurants in area were delicious . Will definitely go back. NC

Our GREAT experience says, "Look no further!"

"Heavenly" does not come close to describing our stay at this well-located home in February 2014. Close to Uvita, Dominical and not far from Manuel Antonio and the Osa Penninsula, we spent many days sightseeing and the rest enjoying the beauty of this home and its' location. The living area of the house is light and airy - beautiful breezes coming through the wall of glass sliders looking out on the lanai and pool. The kitchen is very well designed and equipped – easy to be in the kitchen and yet part of the fun. The lanai is spacious. As a matter of fact, we spent the majority of our time at the house hanging-out on the lanai and in that infinity pool. The outdoor showers, adjacent to the master and guest bedrooms are FABULOUS - so close to nature. Hummingbirds, toucans and their cousin, the fiery-billed acari frequent the trees in the morning and at sunset. The MAGNIFICENT views (which change with the time of day, light, clouds, etc.) are always breathtaking, in particular watching the tide hide and reveal the ballena (Whale’s Tail) in the distance. The SPECTACULAR sunsets are incredible – always changing - we couldn’t stop taking pictures! Richard and Debby are very easy to work with and helpful in answering questions and providing information. We’ve already planned our next trip to this beautiful home.

Toucans and parrots may come by to serenade and entertain you. White face monkeys make an appearance sometimes first thing in the morning. The 1900' elevation insures comfortable temperatures virtually every day of the year.

We designed this house especially for this lot and to suit our comfortable lifestyle. It is a great house for entertaining.
