It took a night or two to get used to the crashing of waves, but that’s the price of a beach front property. Spent a lot of time on the lanai basking in the view!

This property is just as pictured, and sunsets from the lanai couldn’t be best. Very comfortable for 4 adults, everything we needed and more. Comfortable, clean and convenient location.

10/10. We visit Kona every year, usually around the same week every year and this is our go to spot. We love it here, the little beach feels almost private right outside of the unit, perfect for little kids. Already booked our trip for next year!

The ocean view from this deck is above and beyond one's expectations. Everything from jumping fish, leaping whales, pounding waves, lava rock walks, small sandy beach and the most gorgrous sunsets are included.

This is an awesome two bedroom condo. We spent hours on the spacious lanai looking at the waves and sunsets. The kitchen is well stocked. The beds are comfortable. The location is great - close to beaches and town. Wonderful.

Kona Vacation

This unit is very clean and well decorated and well stocked kitchen with every type of necessity. The patio is superb as is the view to the west and the sunsets. Being a first floor unit with the pool at the ground level below, still had this patio above those walking to the small beaches and it felt very secure. I would suggest later into April or May if looking for warmer sunshine!

Great location. Spacious and comfortable. Good sized lanai to sit and relax or eat while enjoying the view. Can enjoy the sound of the ocean from everywhere in the house. No A/C. Adequately cooled by fans and windows while we were there in early November, but I think has potential to get warm at times.

A wonderful balcony overlooking breaking waves and a small pool below our balcony. The bedroom closest to Alii Dr. was very noisy particularly because of the early morning traffic.

50 Year Anniversary

We loved everything about this beautiful place. The lanai was our favorite place to sit and take it all in. We watched whales, spouting, spinner, dolphins, surfers, the sound of the powerful waves, and amazing sunsets. The ocean breeze kept the house. Very cool uncomfortable. The house was well equipped with everything you would need. 🌺🌴🐠🌅🌊

Not for everyone

We really enjoyed the view and location of this condo but that was all. The louver design let in all sorts of noise, we needed ear plugs to sleep. Some of the louvers were broken and couldn’t be fully closed. This was also not your home away from home feel that we enjoy from using short term rentals over hotels.

The condo is designed for maximum airflow to capture both the ocean breezes and the cool air from the mountain at night. With the louver design, it can let in more sound, both from the ocean waves and from the street. Repair for the broken louvers is scheduled as soon as the hardware is available. Our goal for the condo is to have a ‘home away from home’ feel, with our upgraded furniture and well-equipped kitchen. The great majority of our guests seem to agree and we sorry to hear that was not your experience.

It was such a wonderful experience!

The moment we stepped into the Hale Pohaku, we were amazed! Our first impression of the condo was that it was even more beautiful in person, and we immediately felt at home. The condo and the property as a whole are well maintained. Hale Pohaku is spacious, comfortable, and offers all the amenities, and more. As we made our meals and dined on the lanai at sunset, we enjoyed the sounds of the ocean and the most amazing sunsets. Hale Pohaku is a place we have fond memories of, and we are looking forward to returning for our next holiday. In closing, I would like to THANK the team at Kona Coast Vacations for the excellent communication and partnership, both during our holiday planning and throughout our stay. Warmest aloha!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay at Hale Pohaku, my only complaint is that we didn't get to stay longer. The condo is very nice, clean, and in a great location. The view is stunning. We spent all weekend on the lanai relaxing and watching whales and dolphins pass by. The pool was very quiet, and a very nice addition to an already great place to stay. My favorite part was the turtle lagoon right outside. We went out several times each day and saw sea turtles every time! I highly recommend this rental, and would definitely stay again.

Truly Oceanfront Condo

Beautiful condo in a small building. Very well appointed in furnishings and kitchen needs, management company is excellent. The only down side is that the location is VERY noisy. The condo is literally on the Ocean and the waves are LOUD, but you get used to that and it lulls you to sleep. HOWEVER, the bedroom is on the rear of the building and is on Ali’i Drive and the traffic noise was horrible. Many very loud revving engines and extremely loud music from cars going by. We had to purchase ear plugs in order to sleep. This traffic noise occurred about 4 nights out of the seven we were there.

Can’t beat the view.....

If spectacular water views, easy access to the beach and the sound of the waves crashing is your thing then this place is for you. You can’t beat morning coffee while watching the spinner dolphins off the lanai or the spectacular sunsets each evening. Unfortunately the unit while once very lovely is growing tired and in need of TLC. It’s adequately clean. The appliances functioned for the exception of the dryer which management was not successful in getting fixed the entire week we were there although we did have many visits from the handy man. The road noise from Alii Drive is only eclipsed by the sound of the waves on the water end of the unit. Inconveniently the master bedroom gets the brunt of the relentless road activity day and night. Since there is no AC closing the windows is certainly not an option. So bring your ear plugs!
