Welcome to The Gypsy Mariner. Enjoy over 1,200 square feet of beautifully designed interior living space and an additional >1,400 square feet of covered outdoor entertaining area. This custom Lowcountry-style home was built in 2017 and is elevated 10 feet above ground level on a raised slab foundation. Thanks to its elevation, the home has never experienced storm surge flooding or mustiness. Conveniently located just off US Highway 80, The Gypsy Mariner is within easy walking distance of several North Beach restaurants. Beach access is only 324 steps away (or a 2.5 -4 minute walk depending on speed), and Huc-A-Poo’s is just 135 steps from the property. The nearest beach access is Byers Street Beach, known for being more secluded and less crowded, with oyster bars for fishing and a sandy bottom that is ideal for swimming. The property offers parking for up to four vehicles, including one permitted in the garage. Additional street parking is available per Park Tybee regulations. Guests enter the home via one flight of stairs and are welcomed onto a spacious porch featuring an eight-foot outdoor dining table that seats eight comfortably for alfresco meals. Inside, the open-concept living and kitchen area is bright and inviting. The kitchen features island seating for four and flows seamlessly into the living room, which includes a 55-inch Crystal UHD Smart TV. The space showcases a vaulted tray ceiling with recessed lighting and a ceiling fan, along with shiplap walls and a tongue-and-groove ceiling for classic coastal charm. Furnishings include a 92-inch queen sleeper sofa that comfortably accommodates two adults, an oversized swivel chair, a plush armchair, and a collection of board games and puzzles for guest entertainment. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric range and cooktop, externally vented hood, microwave, full-size refrigerator and freezer, Keurig, drip coffee maker, French press, coffee grinder, toaster, blender, and a complete assortment of pots, pans, bakeware, serving dishes, and cutlery to make meal preparation easy and enjoyable. The kitchen island can seat 4.

Down the central hallway, guests will find a laundry room with a washer and dryer, two guest bedrooms, and a guest bathroom with a tub-and-shower combination, a single sink, and an oversized mirror. Every bedroom features a king bed with a memory foam mattress, closet space, and a 50-inch Crystal UHD Smart TV. That is 3 king beds! Two beds are 36 inches high, and one is 22 inches high. The master suite includes a large walk-in closet that may also be shared with guests using the sleeper sofa. All bedroom windows are fitted with blinds for privacy, and one guest bedroom includes an emergency exit with a wide stairwell leading to the backyard. The master bath offers a 5'x3' walk-in shower, double vanity sinks, and an oversized mirror. Both bathrooms are equipped with American Standard Vormax power-flush toilets. Showers include wall-mounted dispensers stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel for a luxury hotel-style experience.

Below the home is the fully covered outdoor entertainment space. Here, guests can relax in the private seven-seater hot tub surrounded by acacia wood flooring. The nautical-inspired outdoor bar is designed to resemble the stern of a boat, featuring teak swim platforms as the bar top for an authentic coastal feel. The bar and accompanying high-top table are on casters, allowing guests to reposition them as desired. A beer fridge and freezer provide additional cold storage. Outdoor seating and gas fire pit coffee table is next to the hot tub to allow for conversation. A competition bristle dart board hangs near the bar. A 12’ competition style shuffleboard table will keep guests entertained for hours. The area also has space to exercise, and some basic fitness gear (mats, small kettlebells, resistance bands) is provided for use. Beach essentials are provided for guest use, including beach towels, beach chairs, a beach cart, kickboards, and sandcastle-building toys. On the side of the home, you will also find a fully enclosed outdoor shower with both hot and cold water, perfect for rinsing off after a day at the beach.

We understand the cleaning fee may seem high. The fee covers two services: housekeeping + linens, and Certified Pool Operator spa chemical treatment and cleaning maintenance after every guest.

For longer stays, mandatory weekly spa cleaning is $70/wk after 1 week. Weekly housekeeping may be arranged for an additional cost. Guests may book >28 days by doing multiple back-to-back bookings.

About the host

Host profile image
We are not new to vacation rentals. Christy and Matt currently own two professionally managed vacation rentals — Writer’s Repose (since 2013) and Poet’s Sanctuary (since 2024) in Savannah. This is our first time managing a property directly. We understand what guests are looking for and are intentional about creating a comfortable, well-equipped experience. Our kitchens are fully stocked with quality dishes, cookware, and essentials so you can truly settle in. We also prioritize comfort in the bedrooms, offering king beds in all primary sleeping spaces (with the exception of the sleeper sofa). Our goal is simple: provide the kind of stay we would want for ourselves — thoughtful, comfortable, and complete. Watch for more photos as the backyard gets an 8 ft privacy fence and the party zone gets further amenities prior to bookings the first full week of April.

Why they chose this property

Long before we met each other, we had both fallen in love with Savannah and Tybee Island in our twenties. The warm water, great surf fishing, gigging in the cooler months, that perfectly kitschy beach-town vibe, art venues, local theater, and miles of bike paths — what’s not to love? Because we live in Savannah, Tybee is just a short drive away, and we find ourselves visiting often.

Many visiting guests wonder whether they should stay on North Beach or South Beach. South Beach has an energy that feels a bit like downtown Savannah — lively, busy, and full of activity. There’s more noise, more foot traffic, and more going on. It can be exciting and fun, especially for a first visit. But with each return trip, the novelty tends to fade, and many people begin craving something quieter and more relaxed. For us, that’s North Beach — a calmer, more laid-back side of the island where you can truly unwind.

A big plus of this home is its proximity to the Byers Street beach access. The beach is only a 2.5–4 minute walk from the front door, depending on your pace. Unlike other beach accesses that require crossing large parking lots and tend to attract bigger crowds, this access feels quieter and more private. At high tide, the water’s edge is often just a short distance from the end of the wooden beach access walkway. The area is also popular with fishermen and offers a good chance of catching flounder.

What makes this property unique

Our property is unique in that it offers three king beds, each in its own separate bedroom — something that’s surprisingly hard to find. In addition, the home features 9-foot ceilings throughout the upstairs and a dramatic 15-foot ceiling in the living room, creating an open and airy feel.

As a newer build, the property was thoughtfully designed with modern comforts in mind — details that truly enhance how the space feels and functions. At the time of listing, several major items are brand new, including all four upstairs TVs, the refrigerator/freezer, and the hot tub. Guests can enjoy peace of mind knowing these appliances are new and fully functional.

As we approach our first booking week, we will be adding updated photos of the “party zone” under the house. Coming soon: a shuffleboard table to make the space even more fun and inviting.
