About this property

Charming Cypress Guesthouse

This warm and welcoming rental sits on one acre along with the main house, and is surrounded by 100-year-old oaks and pines. Forest on two sides beautifully shields our guests from the outside world. With song birds of all kinds, a lovely garden, and a picturesque flock of hens providing farm fresh eggs (no noisy rooster!), our property truly is a relaxing getaway with all the amenities of the city.

Owners Frank and Becky Thompson live in the lower house with their college-age daughters, their young son age 9 and their miniature golden retriever. Since our rental is a spacious, newly-renovated and furnished 2 bedroom/1 bath over-the-garage apartment, we call it the "Upper House". It has a complete kitchen and laundry, both with all new appliances.

The Upper House features:
Sleeping quarters – Cozy and comfortable pillow top mattresses are on each bed. Soft fine quality bed linens and towels provide all the comforts of home away from home. We have 1 queen bed in the master plus a twin bed in the small bedroom. The living area has a very comfortable couch which can also be used for sleeping if needed.

Kitchen/Laundry/Bathroom – Fully-stocked with all the necessary dishes, utensils and small appliances you would need to prepare meals for your family. New appliances include an oven, refrigerator/freezer, stove, microwave and washer and dryer. The bathroom is also completely new with a shower, no tub.

Cable Television & Internet Access – Basic cable and wifi

Exercise & Outdoor Amenities – The gas grill and covered picnic area are available for your personal use by reservation. Our 1-acre property provides many shady spots and children love our swings, garden, playhouse, basketball net and big yard. The neighborhood is an excellent place for a morning power walk or an evening stroll, and we are just a short jog away from a lovely hike-and-bike trails of 2, 3 and 5 miles in length. Two adult bicycles are available to guests. Golf is just 5 minutes away at the beautiful Longwood Golf Club

Parking – We have parking available for two cars. We can accommodate more upon request.

Children – Well-behaved children (on the whole) are always welcome.

NO SMOKING – Smoking is not allowed indoors or out.

NEARBY SHOPPING – 3 major grocery stores 5 minutes away. Walmart, Target, JC Penney and many others are all just 5-10 minutes away. The Fairifeld Outlet Mall is 10 minutes away.

TRANSPORTATION –

HOUSTON MUSEUMS AND THEATERS – Cypress Cinemark is just 5 minutes away. We are a 30 minute drive from the museum/theater district when traffic cooperates.

The rental was what we needed, the owners were nice and checked a few times to make sure that everything was ok.There neighborhood was safe and convenient to walking trails, grocery and other shopping and church and restaurants. We also had friends in the area that were close.

The apartment is in the perfect quiet location while still being close to main traffic routes, shopping and entertainment. The apartment had everything one could need. We would love to stay again in the future.

The property is in a subdivision with fairly large lots. It's not on a major thoroughfare, so it is very quiet. They provided everything I needed. I'd stay there again.

Wonderful experience

We were there visiting family. It was very comfortable for our family to join us for an evening. It is close to grocery stores, shopping centers, playgrounds and walking trails. The apartment was quiet, private, clean and well stocked for our stay. The owners, Frank and Becky, are fabulous and very approachable and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again!

Home Between Homes

This was a perfect landing place for us between houses. We stayed for about two weeks and appreciated the quiet, cool spot to work and call home while we waited to move to our new house. We enjoyed watching the chickens in the mornings and even took walks around the small neighborhood. Becky and Frank were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We highly recommend their place.

6 week visit

I stayed here for 6 weeks while visiting family. The owners were very nice and helpful. It was a decent, clean apartment. The primary bedroom mattress was quite uncomfortable but the shower was great and there was pretty much everything one needed to function. There were days it was noisy between the geese in the pond and the people working around the house but I was out and about most days. Nice neighborhood and lovely owners.

Home away from home

I've stayed almost five weeks while in Houston for business, with my wife and three year old son, who kept me company many times before, this was the first time we felt home, away from home, Becky and Frank are the kindest hosts you could have, even borrowing us their own kitchen appliances and use their beautiful backyard for our son to play. The neighborhood is the quietest, with a long walkable loop covered by beautiful oaks, with a nice park with trails and a great play area at a short drive distance. It was home, away from home, but even better, sleeping like in the countryside and waking up to the sound of geese from the lake at the back of the house, just 10 minutes drive from anything you'd need. Thank you Becky and Frank for hosting us, it was a blessing for our family having stayed with you.

Affordable, safe, quiet, kid-friendly, convenient, attentive host

We traveled to the Houston area with 3 kids (10, 3, and 1) for medical care for my mother-in-law. This VRBO was less than 2 miles from some relatives who live in Cypress who my mother-in-law stayed with, which was very convenient. The commute to MD Anderson from here was easy. It is a quiet, safe neighborhood, close to good shopping. Becky was an attentive host. She texted us the day of check in and greeted us when we arrived. We had trouble with the lock and ran out of dish soap, and she resolved these issues by the next morning. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. We felt like we had a lot of privacy despite staying on site with the host because the garage was detached from the main house. I loved having use of a full kitchen and washer dryer. The kids played on the swingset in the backyard a few times. We visited a church in Spring, TX over our weekend here, and it was an easy commute. would definitely stay here again.

Great Stay during Transition

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay while waiting for our new home to be ready. Beck was great and responsive. Her son even helped us bring out things inside. The house was clean and well equipped. We would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Wonderful Property

Staying on Frank and Becky’s property was exactly what we needed after selling our home. My husband was in between jobs, and we did not yet know our next destination. I will remember looking out of the windows at the beautiful scenery, and the easy communication with Frank and Becky. I highly recommend staying at their peaceful retreat.

We had a very nice stay. Becky was supper at making sure we had everything we needed.

The property was beautiful. Our dog liked getting out and walking the property. Watching the chickens was funny at times. There are peacocks at the house across the street; we never saw them but I heard them when walking my dog. Over all, we had a wonderful time there.

Short Stay Between Houses

We loved our stay! The place was very clean and well maintained, and the owner Becky was very pleasant and a gracious host, along with always making sure we had everything we needed. And she was fine with us having deliveries made. The overall setting was peaceful and almost like being in the country, yet literally minutes away from everything. We stayed there as part of being in between moving from one house and waiting for a new house to be completed. It made the transition more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Perfect temporary mother-in-law suite

I was so comfortable in this apartment while visiting my son and daughter-in-law who live only 10 minutes away. Being separate but near to them was perfect for a two-week holiday vacation! The apartment is cozy, very clean and well-equipped. The owners were completely sympathetic to taking COVID-19 precautions. My thanks to them for making my visit with family possible. c

Northwest Houston Grandparent Retreat

This property was a "God-send" for us as we were asked by our daughter and family to come babysit a new grandson in his infancy while our daughter returned to her job as an elementary school counselor. It is very near her work and she was able to drop our grandson off on the way to work each morning. It was also close to our other grandchildren's middle school so that we were able to pick them up from school as needed and allow them an overnight stay as desired. The location is at the end of a loop into a forested area and extremely quiet. We had lovely property owners who worked with us and we with them on any issues. We would readily go back to this property on any returns to Houston to visit family and highly recommend it to others who need a place in this area.
