About the host
Hosted by Liz Catrina
We’re a family who fell in love with the mountains and wanted to create something truly special — a place designed for connection, celebration, and rest.
A few years ago, after my dad (David) retired from the software industry, we started casually talking about finding a place big enough for our entire family to gather. I’m one of five siblings, and when we all come together with spouses and kids, there are 29 of us. We needed space — not just physically, but space to slow down and truly be together.
When we found the Upper Cabin, it took imagination and a lot of love to see what it could become. We completely gutted and remodeled it in 2025, preserving the beautiful wood ceilings and the piano left behind, while transforming the rest into a bright, luxurious mountain escape. From the moment we walked in, both my dad and I could immediately see the vision.
Not long after, the Lower Cabin — lovingly held by the same family for nearly 50 years — became available for the first time. We knew we had to step in. Even with a large cabin, having a little extra space is what makes gatherings more relaxed and meaningful. The two cabins are close enough to feel connected, yet separate enough to allow for quiet time, family time, and everything in between.
My mom has advanced Alzheimer’s, and we know our time with her is precious. These cabins have become a sacred place for our family — a place where the cousins have created more meaningful memories in a few days than they ever could in the rush of everyday life.
We share this property because we want other families and groups to experience that same kind of connection — time in nature, away from the noise, in a comfortable, beautiful space where you can truly be present with the people who matter most.
We hope it becomes just as special to you as it has to us. 🌲✨

Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it offers the perfect balance of privacy, beauty, and convenience — and in many ways, it felt like it chose us.
Tucked among tall pines on 3 private acres, the property feels peaceful, spacious, and removed from the noise of everyday life. There’s very little traffic — just birds, wind through the trees, and the gentle sound of nearby creeks. At night, the stars shine brightly, and the quiet feels restorative.
Yet you’re only about seven minutes from downtown Twain Harte. Within a short drive, you can explore Pinecrest Lake, Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort, Black Oak Casino, hiking trails, fishing spots, skiing, swimming, and boating. You can adventure all day — and return to total calm in the evening.
What truly sets this property apart, though, is how intentionally it’s designed for large groups.
You are not squeezing 30+ people into one crowded cabin.
Instead, you enjoy:
• Two fully separate homes
• Two full kitchens
• Multiple living rooms
• Flexible sleeping zones
• Private outdoor areas
• Shared gathering spaces designed for connection
It functions beautifully for family reunions, women’s retreats, church groups, corporate offsites, and multi-family vacations.
You can host group dinners on the deck, hold meetings in one living room, let kids gather in the bunk rooms, and still find quiet corners for morning coffee or evening reflection.
Here, you can be together — without being on top of each other.
It’s a true mountain retreat that gives you space to gather, space to breathe, and space to make memories that matter. 🌲
