About this property
Two-Story Cabin with Wood Fireplace, Deck, Gas Grill & Washer Dryer
Summary:
Ski Haus
The Space:
This historic, family-oriented Government Camp vacation home has been a family getaway since the 1940s. A well-loved escape, now your family can experience a stay at this comfortable, home-away-from-home near Oregon's snow-covered Mt. Hood. With a location that backs up to National Forest land and the famous Glade Trail, if you take the bus up to Timberline Lodge, it's possible to ski all the way down to the back door of your mountain getaway!
Once you enter up the steps of this alpine-style, two-story cabin, you'll be treated to a warm and cozy interior. Dark wood paneling, comfortable furniture, and a large brick, wood-burning fireplace give the living area a homey feel. Settle back for an evening of watching DVDs on the TV - you can have a family movie marathon complete with buttered popcorn! And afterward, roast marshmallows in the fireplace for a dessert of s'mores. In the kitchen, you'll have all of the major appliances needed for meal preparation. A refrigerator, stove-top/oven, and even a microwave. In the morning, a coffee maker and a toaster can assist with breakfast. While you're out skiing, you can make use of the slow cooker and return from a day on the slopes to the delicious smells of a beef stew wafting through the house!
This level also boasts a comfortable main bedroom with a snuggly quilt-covered queen bed, a nicely updated full bathroom with a walk-in shower and lovely tile work, and a deck. Everyone else gets to head upstairs at night. A bunk room has four unique, custom twin beds built into the dormer-style roofline of this chalet cottage. From this room, a door will open out onto a Juliet-style balcony overlooking the Mt. Hood National Forest. There is another bedroom upstairs as well as a half bathroom.

Wonderful cabin for a quick weekend to Hood for training. More beds than anticipated. Photos did not do it justice (in a good way). One small shower was rough but good enough.
We flew in from the Northeast and stayed two nights here and could not have been happier. Loved the communication with the property manager as we had zero problems.
We had a great stay here. Quaint ski cabin with ample fun tucked away bunks for kids. This would be such a fun place to stay for two adult couples and 4plus kids ranging ages 5-12. With older teens the bunks are a bit small but the couch is the perfect place to unwind after a big ski day!
We had to leave a day early because Timberline had very little snow. I wished we had been able to ski there because the house is great. Easy to find but remote enough to feel very rustic. We would definitely stay there in the future.
Wonderful stay with access to snow outside the door. Paths to walk on and sledding near by. Home was comfortable. Extra blankets were needed in the night for the kids. Heaters worked but gave off a symphony of knocks and bangs. Kitchen had everything needed for home cooked meals.

Ski Haus
This home has a great location that looks out on trails in the forest. A short walk away is a wooden bridge over a creek. Plan to reserve some time for a walk behind the house. The bunks hold adults comfortably, but kids will have a great time in their own little cubby hole!

Cute, Quiet and Homey
We felt right at home. I didn't feel like I had to watch the kids at all times, because it felt comfortable and not as if everything was breakable. So close to Ski Bowl we could have walked. Government Camp is awesome. I would highly recommend this area for a summer vacation and this little place. Perfect for taking a bunch of kiddos with all the bunk beds. We had a wonderful time. Thank you.
The home itself was a good home if you need a place to lay your head. But the amenities or upgrades are lacking, including very little electrical outlets. If you have a larger party, it can sleep a lot of people, but it can be difficult to move around as it is not very big. If you go in the winter, it would be a great place to stay. But our trip was in the summer and that house gets hot. The house does not have A/C and that is okay for an old house, but it would be better if they supplied fans. The upstairs would be very hot even with the windows open all night trying to get a breeze in the house. Would only recommend if you just needed a place to sleep and not be in during the day.

Great Traditional Affordable 1960's Cabin!
Great 1960's mountain vacation home
We had a wonderful weekend at the 'Ski Haus'. This is a nicely kept 1960's cabin, where we felt right at home in the cozy atmosphere of old wood, traditional furnishings and beside the cozy fireplace! Sleeping layout is a little different - for our needs, the bedroom arrangements worked well, for others, although it sleeps so many, there is only one queen bedroom and the other double is a shared experience with several other captain/bunk like beds, plus one other room of 3 bunk style beds.
This home is older in style, but had been cleaned very well and had all that we needed. For sitting around in the living room, the 3 and 2 seater sofa's left us a bit short for a big group. We were also short on dining seats/table size, until we discovered on the last day a cupboard full of fold-able chairs and extra little table we could have used! Pays to explore more! One shower was fine for even our big group for a weekend, longer may need scheduling! Kitchen is small, 1960's but again, well within our expectations for an older less expensive experience.
We were unsure about recycle materials for this area, so left a box of what we recycle at home beside the garbage. A notice would be a good idea.
Loved the rear forest setting and all the traditional decks.
We will definitely return to this neat, nice feel ski cabin and had a very memorable stay with our kids/young adults. Thank you.
