About this property
Holiday home Lillian with large terrace
ED Refnr. 2960657
House Lillian is situated in a small bungalow estate near Oostmahorn on the Lauwersmeer.
The accommodation has a living space of approx. 80 m² and is furnished for up to 4 people. There are 2 bedrooms on the upper floor of the house, one of which has a small balcony. Downstairs there is a spacious living room with an integrated kitchen as well as a bathroom, another bedroom and a separate toilet. It is both cosy and practically furnished and equipped with everything you need, including cable TV and internet.
A small garden with terrace rounds off the whole thing, and barbecues are allowed on the property.
Energy neutral. Private jetty on a canal.
Oostmahorn is a fortified village from the early 16th century with an extensive history on what was then the Lauwerszee. Today it is an attractive tourist destination on the edge of the Lauwersmeer National Park and has two holiday parks.
The lake and its immediate surroundings are a paradise for nature lovers, fishermen, water sports enthusiasts, hikers and cyclists. Dog lovers and their four-legged friends also get their money's worth here. Lauwersoog has a dog beach, for example, and you are very welcome in the Ballastplaat forest, among other places.
There are various play options for children within a few hundred metres of the chalet, including a climbing frame on the beach, a playing field at De Skâns holiday park and a playground with a bouncy cushion in Esonstad, which is located behind the beach. There is also an indoor play paradise in the old Frisian-style fortified town, which is open for much of the year, and you can play a round of golf or footgolf at Pitch & Putt. A bicycle or e-chopper can also be hired here.
For your daily groceries (a large supermarket is a few kilometres away in Anjum) you can also go to the local supermarket in Esonstad. Other facilities include a restaurant, a pizzeria and a snack bar. Even closer to the chalet - in the marina and on the dyke - there are also 3 excellent restaurants with magnificent views over the Lauwersmeer. You are in the right culinary spot on this former arm of the Wadden Sea. In the harbour of Lauwersoog you will find a variety of fish restaurants and the former seaport of Zoutkamp on the other side of the Lauwersmeer also offers a wide selection of restaurants. Finally, a visit to historic and picturesque Dokkum with its fortresses, shops and terraces is highly recommended.
To discover the national park from the water, you can of course bring your own boat, but just around the corner from the chalet you can also hire various sloops, sailing boats or canoes from Paviljoen La Barca. A round trip, a trip to Dokkum or a birdwatching excursion on the former cargo ship Vlinderbalg are also possible, and a ferry to Schiermonnikoog departs from here several times a week. From Lauwersoog, you can take part in seal and mudflat walks and, depending on the tide, enjoy the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site on the dry Engelsmanplaat.
The Lauwersmeer is a favourite with fish lovers. Lots of bream and roach swim here, but you can also fish for zander and perch. You can buy a fishing licence at the reception of Holland1.
Do you like walking and want to relax? For example, visit the fishing village of Paesens-Moddergat on the sea dike with its museum 't Fiskershúske. You can also go on various daily mudflat walks in this authentic double village. Or simply stay at home in and outside your chalet. Don't forget to look up on a cloudless late evening and enjoy the starry sky and the Milky Way. It is not for nothing that the Lauwersmeer area (together with the Boschplaat on Terschelling) has been declared a Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association. In short: a special place in a unique environment!
