The Iron Rider Suite in Hot Springs, SD, was a great place to stay! We received an email from the host, Dar, two days prior to our check in date with all the information we'd need to find the unit and enter our suite. The location is conveniently located for tourists, with parking, shopping, and restaurants nearby. Our room had good amenities, including a full kitchen, laundry, and a great welcome basket! Property was clean and comfortable. This is a special place, which met our needs, and we had fun exploring the area!

We absolutely loved hosting Gina! She was kind, patient, and flexible during our ownership transition (as we navigated a few first-time VRBO learning curves with reservations made with a previous owner). Gina was a wonderful guest, took great care of the suite, communicated beautifully, and made hosting a pleasure from start to finish. She and her travel partner also left a lovely thank you note for us, which literally made our day! We are so happy she enjoyed Hot Springs and the Iron Rider Suite, and we'd welcome her back anytime for her next Black Hills adventure! 5-Star Guest!

Rooted in small-town values, we instantly felt at home in Hot Springs. After years of owning a beloved wine lounge in Sonoma—where exceptional service and inviting spaces were our focus—we were drawn to this property, originally crafted by a Premier Host. We’ve honored that legacy while elevating the details, from upgraded linens to refreshed interiors and kitchen amenities. Our goal is simple: continue delivering a seamless 5-star experience. As we prepare to make Hot Springs our full-time home, we’re delighted to share it with you.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with downtown Hot Springs for its history and small-town feel. This 100+ year-old sandstone building tells the story of how the town was built, and that mattered to us—we believe in preserving what makes places special, not changing them. My husband especially loves historic buildings, so this one checked all the boxes.

The location doesn’t hurt either—right across from the Fall River, next to the waterfall, and just steps from great walking and running trails. You can easily walk to coffee, shops, and restaurants, plus relax at Moccasin Springs Natural Mineral Spa or Evans Plunge Mineral Springs.

What makes this property unique

What makes this property unique is its blend of history, setting, and character. Built in 1910, this sandstone building was once part of Hot Springs’ early “Medical Block,” alongside Highley’s Drug Store (now the Chautauqua Artisan Market). Today, the loft-style suites sit above street-level retail and office space, offering a tucked-away retreat in the heart of downtown. Both suites feature views of the Fall River, waterfall, and scenic walking trails, while the studio offers a beautiful perspective of the Black Hills rock formations from its kitchen windows.

NOTE: This space is best suited for guests comfortable with stairs, as access is via a single, steep staircase, and the open stairwells may not be ideal for small children.
