About this property

"Serendipity " at Carmel By the Sea

Quiet and tranquil, yet just a two block walk to Carmel's famous shops and restaurants and eight blocks to the Beach! This home is situated among the towering trees of Carmel and upon entering it you will be surrounded by its charm.

Our home was built in the 20's with hardwood floors and many lovely antiques. There is a front flower garden with patios on both sides for either sun or shade.

Upon entering you will find a well- stocked kitchen with a large comfortable dining room. There is a lovely window seat that looks out onto the front patio and garden. A perfect place to sit and have coffee and read the morning paper.

Enter the great room where there is plenty of space for the whole family to sit together watch TV and enjoy the roaring fire in the Carmel stone fireplace.

On this level there is one large bedroom and bathroom (queen bed), with doors leading out to the front patio and garden. The backyard has a gas barbecue, table and chairs for 6 and outside seating. We allow dogs so the yard is completely fenced.

Upstairs is the master bedroom with king bed and charming window seat, with a full bath with two sinks. There is also a loft with a twin bed for additional sleeping.

The ADU has a King bedroom and ensuite bath with soaking tub and shower overhead.

Come visit Carmel and our charming home-- There is something magical here--once you're here, you'll never want to leave!

The location cannot be beat! Walk to everything!

We loved staying at Serendipity. We found a 5 mile circle walk, through Mission Trail Park, around the point, Carmel Beach, and back up (!) Ocean Avenue. It was fun to mix that up a bit by heading down side streets and checking out the beautiful homes. Serendipity has a lovely front courtyard with huge, old cypress tree in front of the fence, which made the upstairs bedroom seem like a tree house. Check out the window seat in the dining room, which became my coffee spot. The house is quite old and could use some refurbishing, which is why I only gave it 4 stars, but that is part of its great charm. We would definitely stay here again.

Magical Month in Carmel

This warm and relaxed home was perfect for our Carmel stay. We felt at home the instant we walked in. The home is spacious and casual with beautiful natural lighting. The host was easy to work with and accommodating. The courtyard garden was charming and beautiful with ample out door seating and a towering redwood distinguishes the front yard. The kitchen was well appointed. And we loved a fire in the fireplace at night. The location was perfect, convenient for exploring downtown and for walks to the beach. We enjoyed a magical month in Carmel and look forward to returning to Serendipity.

Unique cottage with true Carmel character, close to everything you need.

We walked every day, to the beach, to the shops, in the woods on Mission trail just up the street. Our dog came with us everywhere, so we all had a wonderful vacation. Serendipity is well equipped in the kitchen, as well as throughout the bedrooms and baths. Everything was there that we would need. Barbara responded very nearly immediately to our request for getting the DVD player to "talk" to the TV, and we were able to enjoy a number of movies that we checked out of the Carmel library. Weather permitting, there is a lovely patio with tables and chairs, where we ate a few lunches and enjoyed the bright flowers in the garden. There is adequate parking for two cars, very important! We had a great month at Serendipity.

Absolutely Perfect!

My husband and I had an extended stay at Serendipity. The location is absolutely perfect. You are just two blocks from downtown Carmel, and a short walk to the beach. The home is fully furnished with everything that you could possibly need. We had our small dog with us, and the fully fenced front and back yard was great for him. I didn't have to worry about him getting out at all. There is plenty of parking. I would highly recommend this property for a short or long term stay. The owners were great to work with.
