A stone fireplace anchors this peaceful forest hideaway, where towering redwoods shade every window. Gather around the stone fireplace or grill dinner on the deck while kids play in the enclosed yard — this 2-bedroom cottage sleeps 4 comfortably. Just 500 feet to the Russian River beach and a mile from Lightwave Coffee. Your days here move at redwood pace — slow, grounded, and deeply restorative among these ancient giants.
The Space:
Spend mornings on the deck as mist lifts off the Russian River, afternoons floating the river or visiting Korbel and Joseph Jewell tasting rooms, and evenings around the firepit with the day's bottles.
A floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace wall anchors the heart of the home — load up the wood-burning insert and the sectional pulls you in for a fireside evening. Glass doors slide open completely so indoor and outdoor merge; track lighting and skylights in the vaulted ceiling keep the room bright on foggy days. White cabinets trimmed in wood line the kitchen steps away, a skylight above for prep light and yellow bar stools at a small breakfast bar. Beyond it, orange chairs sit around a dark wood dining table by the deck doors.
OUTDOOR LIVING
Multiple redwood-stained decks expand your living space into the trees. The main deck invites you to linger with built-in seating, a glass-top coffee table, and wooden outdoor furniture. Fire up the stainless steel gas grill for forest dining. A unique curved slide connects the upper and lower deck levels — pure whimsy among the redwoods. The enclosed yard provides safe play space for children.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
The primary bedroom cradles you beneath vaulted wood-plank ceilings, with a queen bed and an orange upholstered chair and ottoman tucked by the window as a reading nook. A decorative dreamcatcher adorns the wall. The second bedroom offers a comfortable double bed under the same wood ceilings that echo the home's cabin character. The cottage sleeps 4 guests.
PROPERTY AMENITIES
-- 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom
-- Wood-burning fireplace (wood provided)
-- Gas grill
-- Full kitchen with all cookware and dishware
-- Parking for 2 vehicles
-- No washer/dryer
Guest Access:
Step into a great room rising to a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace wall, send the kids down the curved deck slide between levels, and let the skylights handle the rest. You've got the whole home, with a wood-burning fireplace, BBQ, outdoor dining, an enclosed yard, and a balcony among the trees. Punch in the keypad code at the door; one car fits in the driveway or parallel to the gate, with overflow across the street.
The Neighborhood:
Villa Grande's artistic hamlet surrounds you with towering redwoods and river culture. Walk just 500 feet to reach the Russian River beach — perfect for swimming, floating, or launching a kayak adventure. The Monte Rio Community Beach (0.8 miles) offers volleyball courts, picnic areas, and seasonal watercraft rentals for family fun. Start mornings with excellent coffee at Lightwave Coffee & Kitchen (1.2 miles), serving Middle Eastern-inspired breakfast and lunch. Stock up on essentials at nearby Fern's Market (1.0 miles) or Bartlett's Market (1.0 miles). For dinner, the historic Highland Dell Lodge (1.1 miles) serves German-American cuisine in a 1906 building, while Boho Manor (1.1 miles) offers a Gatsby-themed dining experience with river views. Golfers shouldn't miss Northwood Golf Club (under 2 miles) — a legendary Alister MacKenzie-designed course winding through the redwoods.
Getting Around:
Monte Rio is about 90 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a winding drive through redwoods and river country. You'll find parking for one vehicle in the driveway, plus space for another car parallel to the gate. Additional overflow parking sits across the street along the wood fence. A car makes the Russian River Valley easy to explore, from redwood trails to riverside wineries. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.
Other Things to Note:
This home features two security cameras for your safety: one outward-facing camera on the front deck and another outward-facing camera on the front porch, both with audio capability. Important: Cell service is extremely limited here, and the home sits in a dead internet zone. Save your check-in instructions and any important information before arriving, as you won't be able to access emails once here. The home's internet works well once you're connected to Wi-Fi. The cottage stays naturally cool thanks to the shading redwood canopy — most days you'll find the forest breeze is all you need. On the warmest summer afternoons, fans help circulate the air. The EV charger visible on the property is not available for guest use. Quiet hours run from 9 PM to 8 AM to preserve the peaceful atmosphere. The primary renter must be 21 or older. Please note this property doesn't include laundry facilities, so pack accordingly for your forest retreat.

Perfect little getaway
We had the perfect getaway here! We loved sipping on coffee while sitting on the deck and the short walk to the private beach was very convenient. The place was peaceful, clean, roomy, and comfortable. It had everything we needed for the weekend and we highly recommend it!
This was perfect for me and my two boys. Spent time at the river and took some short trips to the beach.

Beautiful and cozy weekend getaway
We loved the view of the stars through the skylight from the bed at night, and the sunlit sequoyas view in the morning. The lovely interior design full of natural light and the great lighting choices made the mood great throughout the day and at night. Many choices for trips in nature around - near and further, and great choices for eating out or grilling on the deck! Thank you very much for a wonderful experience!

Perfect For A Forest Soak
There were so many trees, I felt like I was sleeping in a redwood grove! Terra cabin is clean, cozy, and was conveniently close to the city. The back deck was perfect for enjoying the afternoon light with a book, some wine, and maybe a little nap. I will definitely be back for a longer forest soak!

Sweet!
Great little spot.
Neighbor across the street is very nice. She just asked us not to park near her gate as she cannot get in or out. Was not a problem. Very clean. Big bathroom. Nice decks.

Update your listing
We liked the house & the area. My primary issue was the washer & dryer that was listed under amenities was not available to use. Be aware if renting. We had problems with the keyless entry. Although the house was very clean, the dishes were not, we bought paper & plastic.

Very Disappointing
A nice house. But not well cared for. We planned to have meals on the nice deck. We knew in advance that the oven did not work. But we couldn’t even use the BBQ grill because it was missing the electronic starter. And then only one burner would light manually, and not adequately enough to cook our planned meals. Silverware in the kitchen drawers were not clean. No screens on windows. The back screen door was crumbling apart and the screen itself was partly detached. The steps going up to the front door were partly rotten.
The neighborhood is basically like Tobacco Road.
Would never stay here again.
Vacasa, the management company, responded to my messages about the issues, said they were sending out the local “team” to fix things, but no one ever showed up or called.
We just left a day early out of disgust.
To top everything off, the front door key code lock would not function on the last morning before we left. Luckily the back door was unlocked at the time.
In summary - don’t trust Vacasa managed properties.

We're glad you thought our home was nice but we are disheartened to read you experienced issues that kept you from fully enjoying your stay. We shared your comments with the local manager and they assured us that there are no issues with the front steps. They were carefully inspected and are safe. The silverware and drawers are in good shape but they addressed the burner on the BBQ and we apologize for the inconvenience. They also fixed the back screen door and we appreciate your feedback as we view it as an opportunity to improve. We hope you will allow us the chance to provide you with a truly exceptional vacation experience in the future.
