Nestled in one of Durango's most beautiful, peaceful, and sought-after valleys, Hidden Valley Farmhaus offers a private retreat surrounded by stunning natural scenery. Expansive wraparound windows showcase breathtaking views of Animas Mountain and the quaint valley below, creating a true mountain escape. The home is located just 5 miles (about 8–10 minutes) from Main Street. Close enough for convenience, yet far enough away to enjoy peace, quiet, and star-filled skies. Guests especially love exploring the nearby San Juan National Forest meadow, located only 1/10 mile away, as well as the easy access to the Colorado Trail, just 4 miles from the home.
The Space This two-story home sits on a bench above the valley, facing east to capture beautiful morning sunrises. Set on 4 private acres among pinyon, juniper, ponderosa pine, oak brush, and chokecherry trees, the property is alive with birdsong and natural beauty. The inviting landscaped patio and yard just outside the kitchen windows provide yet another stunning place to relax and take in the views. Guests can enjoy a picnic table with umbrella seating, six Adirondack chairs surrounding a firepit, and several tucked-away sitting areas throughout the property, including a porch swing nestled among four juniper trees. Many guests begin taking photos the moment they arrive.
Guests also have seasonal access to the garden and greenhouse, where they are welcome to enjoy fresh salad makings during their stay.
Blending seamlessly into the surrounding hillside and sandstone cliffs, the home feels as though it has been part of the valley forever. Inside, the newly remodeled kitchen brings the outdoors in with rich red granite countertops and sage green backsplash tile. From the kitchen island, you can enjoy sweeping 180-degree views of the valley, ridge, and Animas Mountain.
Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining area sits beside a large picture window, while the living room offers comfortable seating for six and a cozy gas thermostat-controlled “woodstove.” The home also features in-floor radiant heat throughout.
The main level includes one bathroom, accessed by two small steps. Upstairs, you'll find three bedrooms, one queen bedroom and two full bedrooms, along with two additional bathrooms. The primary suite includes a private bath, while the secondary bedrooms share a hallway bathroom. Every room enjoys beautiful natural views. Tucked into the hillside, the upstairs primary bedroom also features a door leading to a private ground-level back deck. There, guests can relax in a secluded sitting area complete with a clawfoot outdoor bath/shower tub and peaceful views of the cliffs behind the home. (The outdoor bath/shower is available from mid-May through the end of September.)

Guest Access Ample parking is available on the semi-circular driveway, with room for 4–5 vehicles while still allowing easy drive-through access. Guests may pull up within approximately 8 feet of the front door for convenient unloading before parking alongside the drive. The driveway gently winds up and down small hills from the county road, with the home situated midway along the drive. From the property, guests can walk just 1/10 mile to a beautiful San Juan National Forest meadow featuring an easy, flat trail through wide open scenery. The paved county road that parallels the meadow is equally scenic and wonderful for peaceful walks. The meadow is ideal for biking in warmer months and for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in winter. There is a covered space next to a shed for ski and bike storage. And if you happen to visit during a full moon… don't miss stepping outside to watch the moon rise over the ridge and illuminate the white sandstone cliffs lining the valley. The night skies and stars here are simply unforgettable.

The Farmhaus is located on a larger property and is separate from the main house, giving guests their own private space to enjoy. The owners may be staying in the main home during your visit and are available if you need assistance, local recommendations, or anything to help make your stay more enjoyable.
Dogs allowed (2 maximum) with prior approval and paid pet fee. Pet fee is $25/day per dog up to $200 each dog. Dogs must be on leash at all times when outside.
We are only able to accommodate children ages 9 and older.

Guests will be sent a vacation rental agreement by Durango Colorado Vacations (the property manager) to e-sign at the time of booking.

Cancellation Policy: If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that are made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival will receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Between (29) days and fifteen (15) days before arrival, guest will be refunded 50% of the reservation amount. (14) days or less to arrival, no refunds given. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date to receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee Cancellations made between thirty one (31) days in advance of your arrival and (59) days will receive a 50% refund.
