About this property
The Pack House at Little Bass Lake

For generations, thousands of small family farms have dotted the landscape. The industry has helped build the Tar Heel State's cities, universities, and hospitals.
Flue-cured tobacco was harvested and cured in barns before entering the Pack House, where it was stored, sorted, graded, and bundled. Before auction, the tobacco would be taken down into the basement through the trap door still visible at the base of the modern stairs. There, it would soften in the humidity so that it could be packed without crumbling.
