The local restaurant, Eichwaldstuben, offers a wide variety of dishes at family-friendly prices and is the perfect place to relax after a tennis match (indoor or outdoor). The nearest major city with plenty of shopping options is Kaiserslautern, 12 km away, which can also be reached by train. On weekends, you can also take one of the night buses back to your lodging after visiting the old town. The rural community of Schopp has two general practitioners, a pharmacy, a hair salon, an auto repair shop, a physiotherapy practice, a savings bank with an ATM, a small flower shop, and two small bakeries where you can stock up on fresh baked goods and groceries. Within a 25-km radius are the towns of Landstuhl, with its well-preserved Nanstein Castle, and Pirmasens, the “shoe capital.” The Dahner Felsenland, which is also easily accessible by train, offers many beautiful hiking trails with numerous typical Palatinate restaurants and cafes.
