Back in 2014, we set out to find a new place to call home in the countryside—never expecting to stumble upon something so extraordinary. Our realtor tipped us off about a stunning piece of land just about to hit the market…complete with a fully operating winery. Curious, we went to take a look—and from that moment on, everything changed. We were instantly captivated by the rolling prairie, the water, and the peaceful charm of what quickly became our rustic oasis. The vineyard and winery? That was the perfect bonus.

Always eager for a new adventure, we dove in headfirst—and this has been our passion ever since. As lifelong residents of Southwest Minnesota, supporting local has always been at the heart of what we do. While we grow grapes on-site, we also source grapes and apples from nearby farms, all within an hour of us, to craft our wines. Our space reflects that same commitment, featuring décor and food from local businesses and vendors.

When you visit, you’ll meet us—Andy and Krista—along with our three spirited daughters, Annika, Elysa, and Britta. And if you’re lucky, you’ll also be greeted by Goldie, our friendly vineyard dog. We can’t wait to welcome you, share our little slice of prairie life, and raise a glass with you.

Set against the sweeping backdrop of Minnesota’s prairie lands, this offers a rare fusion of rustic charm and refined simplicity. This family-owned vineyard isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a place to pause. Guests are welcomed into a working vineyard where small-batch wines, golden-hour views, and thoughtful hospitality set the tone. Whether you're here for a quiet escape or to connect over a wood-fired pizza night under the stars, Painted Prairie invites you to slow down and savor each moment. The vineyard’s deep roots in the land, commitment to craft, and genuine community spirit make it one of the most special stays in Minnesota wine country.

This is nestled in the heart of Minnesota’s sweeping prairie landscape, just outside the small town of Currie. Surrounded by wide-open skies and rolling fields, this peaceful setting offers a true escape from the rush of everyday life. With panoramic views and vibrant sunsets, the vineyard feels a world away while still being within reach of local parks, lakes, and cultural sites. It’s the perfect base for exploring the beauty of southwest Minnesota—or simply staying put and enjoying the slower pace of vineyard life.
