About this property

Strange Catskills Glamp Barn from 1986 w. Hot Tub + Real Shower & Kitchen

Enjoy glamping with a cinematic 1980s twist — a private forest cabin inspired by the atmosphere of Stranger Things combined with access to select amenities inside the nearby owner’s vacant vacation house.

Hidden deep in the Catskill Mountains, this blends the rustic feel of a small-town sheriff’s hideout, a quirky kids’ clubhouse, and the mystery decor of a detective mom searching for answers.

Discover glowing alphabet wall, cassette tapes, vintage games, and floor-to-ceiling forest views inspired by the summer of 1986.

Includes access to hot shower, hot tub, kitchen, fridge, and fast Starlink Wi-Fi.

The barn is designed to feel like a hidden retreat somewhere in "small town USA" during the summer of 1986.

Large windows blur the line between indoors and outdoors, allowing you to fall asleep on the king sized bed surrounded by forest views while still feeling sheltered in your own private hideaway.

On chilly nights light up the old fashioned cast iron stove - on which you can even cook.

Scattered throughout the cabin you may discover old cassette tapes, retro games like checkers or Scrabble, vintage props, strange glowing lights, and little details inspired by classic 80s adventure films and television. Some guests even stumble across mysterious recordings of recognizable teenagers having conversations.

At the main house just a few steps away, enjoy your own elevated deck with 2 person inflatable hot tub surrounded by trees, mountain air, and the peaceful sounds of the Catskills.

Make use of the Weber propane grill, eat and sip drinks with amazing views, or relax on the outdoor chairs while listening to the wind move through the forest.

You may even notice a strange red glow somewhere deeper in the woods… though we probably wouldn’t recommend investigating too far ;)

At nearly 1,700 feet elevation — just 61 miles below space — the property offers incredible stargazing. On clear nights the Milky Way often stretches overhead in a way most people rarely experience anymore.

And if the weather turns rainy or chilly? Fast Starlink Wi-Fi allows you to stream your favorite episodes of Stranger Things while surrounded by the same kind of spooky forest atmosphere that inspired the cabin itself.

During your stay, guests also receive access to select amenities inside the nearby vacant owner’s house, including:

• Real indoor hot shower
• Partial kitchen access
• Microwave & refrigerator
• Toaster & blender
• Fast Starlink Wi-Fi
• Charging outlets
• Work & eating space
• Outdoor hot tub on the deck

This setup allows guests to enjoy the peaceful feeling of glamping without completely giving up the comforts of a traditional vacation home.

The property is close to hiking trails, waterfalls, breweries, ski mountains, small mountain towns, and classic roadside attractions throughout the Catskills region.

Whether you’re here to stargaze, reconnect with nature, binge your favorite retro sci-fi series, or simply slow down for a few days, this is a place designed to help you relax, unplug, and feel like you stepped into another era.

Want to eat out? Within 15 minutes you’ll find a variety of restaurants, diners, cafes, pizza spots, and local favorites. Ask and I’ll gladly share recommendations.

IMPORTANT NOTES

- Campfires are NOT allowed anywhere on the property at any time. Due to the mountain elevation and changing wind conditions, we provide a propane fire pit for your entertainment.

- You will have access to a hot shower in the owner's vacant home, but not the toilet. There is a brand new porta potty located 20 feet outside of the barn.

This is glamping in a rustic structure built partly from reclaimed materials, so expect a more natural experience than a hotel or modern cabin. Forest sounds, bugs, changing weather, and the little imperfections of country life are all part of the setting and therefore host are not responsible for acts of nature and other occurrences out of our control.
