This modern, fully equipped apartment is located in the tranquil area of Oberpörlitz, right on the outskirts of Ilmenau. No street noise, no hustle and bustle—just nature, fresh air, and true relaxation. And of course, your dog is more than welcome.<br><br>The Apartment<br>Spanning 55 m², this thoughtfully furnished apartment accommodates up to 3 people. In the bedroom, you’ll sleep on a comfortable queen-size double bed with high-quality linens. The living area features a cosy sleeper sofa—ideal for a third person. The bright living room with a view of the greenery invites you to relax, while the smart TV with streaming services ensures cosy evenings.<br>The fully equipped kitchen leaves nothing to be desired: stove, oven, dishes, and everything you need—including a coffee maker with three options (capsule, filter, French press). Bed linens, towels, tea towels, and toilet paper are, of course, provided.<br>The bathroom features a walk-in rain shower—a little highlight after a long day of hiking.<br><br>Outside<br>Your private terrace with a grill and garden chairs will be your favourite spot for breakfast in the morning sun or a long evening under the open sky. A free parking spot right next to the apartment and fiber-optic Wi-Fi round out the amenities.<br><br>Hiking Right from Your Doorstep<br>Ilmenau is an ideal starting point for hikes in the Thuringian Forest—and many trails begin right outside your door. The Kickelhahn (861 m), Ilmenau’s local mountain, is within walking distance and rewards you with an observation tower and panoramic views of the Thuringian Forest. For those looking for more: The legendary Goethe Hiking Trail leads from Ilmenau via the Gabelbach Hunting Lodge and the Goethe Cottage all the way to Stützerbach—a classic route steeped in history. A bit quieter and less well-known is the Upper Berggraben Trail, which follows historic mining trenches along the southern slope of the Kickelhahn.<br>You can find GPS tracks and Komoot maps for all the trails on our website.<br><br>Discover Ilmenau<br>Ilmenau’s city centre is within walking distance and offers more than you’d expect: the GoetheStadtMuseum in the Baroque town hall on the market square, the medieval St. Jakobus Church, historic alleyways, and the cosy weekly market (Wednesdays and Saturdays). For lunch or dinner, we recommend the Brauhaus Ilmenau, which serves regional cuisine and house-brewed beer, or the Gasthaus Kickelhahn right at the summit. For coffee and cake: the Kaffeelotte in the city centre.<br><br>Wellness & Relaxation<br>If you’d like to unwind after a hike: The Ilmenau recreational pool is about 15 minutes away, and the thermal baths in Oberhof—with thermal water and a large sauna area—are about 35 minutes away. Or you can simply enjoy forest swimming right from your front door—peace and quiet included.<br><br>Practical In<br>Check-in from 4:00 PM, check-out by 11:00 AM. Check-in is convenient via self-check-in using a key safe—you’ll receive the code by email after booking.
