About this property

Tiny House Oasis in beautiful Waldo County, Maine. Dogs welcome! JUNE PRICE DROP

Located in Jackson, enjoy what this tiny house has to offer. This peaceful retreat features a cozy queen bed with a comfortable twin bed on the screen in porch, if you want to enjoy the night sounds.

The cabin stays comfortable with air conditioning. Guests can unwind and the beautiful large porch in a the tranquil setting. Whether you’re relaxing on the porch, enjoying the fire pit or exploring nearby, this quaint cabin provides a welcome escape. In the mid- to late summer we are happy to share the proceeds of our vegetable garden. Corn, green beans, tomatoes, zucchini, broccoli, flowers and more!

There is a brand new Sun Mar composting toilet in the shower house. NO INDOOR PLUMBING but we supply ample drinking/cooking/washing water and there is a sink that drains.

Your pups can run free in my fenced-in yard.

This retreat has been a labor of love since 2021. Hosting was a way for me to make ends meet when I became a widow, and is now one of the joys of my life! I'm always happy to meet my guests, I love to chat, I'll leave you alone to enjoy it all.

I have many activities going on during the summer. I teach violin, run a small orchestra in Bangor and run a youth orchestra in Belfast, but I'm always reachable by text or phone if there's anything you need.

You can see the overwhelmingly happy reviews on a different site.

**We are available for three people only in summertime, as the third person will sleep on a daybed on the screened-in sleeping porch.

**The listing says half-bath, but we do have a private outdoor hot shower. The shower is situated in a private outbuilding just steps from the tiny house front door.

If I am not there when you arrive, feel free to settle in.

The area is farmland and woods. The house is on a small homestead. I am usually in the vicinity, gardening or doing maintenance work. my house is around 100 feet away.

Our neighbors are all great people. Enjoy the fruits of our vegetable garden.

Let me know, and your pup can access the fenced-in area around my house for free running around.

I clean thoroughly and with your best experience in mind between every booking, but there is no changing the fact that this is the Maine countryside. Bugs and critters can be held at bay but never completely eliminated; they were here first.

However your comfort is my top priority and the tiny house with its screened-in porch are designed to be your refuge.

1 1/4 hours from Acadia, 1/2 hour from Belfast and 40 minutes from Bangor.

My time in summer is mapped out by the minute , so please confirm check-in times and let me know the morning of your arrival when you plan to get here. The posted check-in time needs to be flexible..

(Walking in when I'm mopping the floor = not cool!)

** If you follow Google Maps to get to my property you may be taken down a dirt road that turns into a path that turns into a trail and disappears. To avoid this, follow my directions. You've been warned!

FAQ
Q. Is there a changing room outside the outdoor shower?
A. No, but there is a but of room in the shower space. I have two beautiful terry cloth bathrobes for you.

Q. Is the screened in porch really bug free?
A. It seems damn good as of right now, the middle of black fly season. Try to keep to a minimum the times you open and close the porch door. We have citronella candles.

Please check for ticks often.

Q. How good is the Wi-Fi in the tiny house?

A. It's about as good as in my house. It's got a Wi-Fi booster.

Q. Is the composting toilet really not stinky?
A. I have never used the Sun Mar composting toilet which we are installing this season. however, it has a very good reputation.

Q. Is the outdoor shower really hot? How does it work?
A. The outdoor shower has an on-demand heater. As long as you don't turn the water volume too high for the heater to handle, the water gets quite hot quickly. But even at half the water volume it's still plenty hot.

Q. Can I have more people?
A. The capacity of the tiny house is three people with one sleeping on the porch. If you would like to bring more people and you have your own tent and camping equipment, please let us know and it's fine with us; there's plenty of room for your tent. You must let me know in advance. I charge an additional $10 per person.

Q. Is the tiny house really secluded?
A. That depends on your point of view! I've had some guests who were genuinely frightened at being in the middle of nowhere and others who were put off by the fact that my house was only 100 ft away.

I live with my son and his who works full time. I am generally around working in the garden or doing maintenance work when I'm not in Bangor or Belfast teaching. You may also occasionally hear me give a violin lesson in my house.

Any other questions, please message me!

**If you live in a metropolitan area you may be daunted by the narrow twisty roads after dark so try to arrive in daylight.

** We are dog- and cat- friendly, but are not favorably inclined when guests leave dogs inside the tiny house for hours and hours at a time. Not only do we think it isn't great for the pets, but when they bark they get my dogs going.

**Our Wi-Fi is decent but this is rural connectivity. It might not be as good or reliable as you are used to in a metropolitan area. However, we have had guests come and do their remote work from our porch without difficulty.

**Remember to check yourself daily for ticks for as long as you are in Maine.

**Hot water available only for showers.

**Have you been hiking? I will wash and fold a load of your laundry for $20 and deliver it to you.

** We are 402 friendly but not tobacco-friendly! Please don't smoke anything inside the tiny house.

We look forward to hosting you at the Homestead.

Host profile image
I'm a mom of 2 adult children and a rescue pup. I teach violin, love children and almost everybody else. I am a widow of 7 years, working to establish financial stability for my family.

When I'm not working, I read, write music, garden, lead an amateur orchestra in Bangor, spend time with my children, and play a daily game of catch-up: too many tasks, too many jobs, too much to do and not enough time!

Why they chose this property

I've lived in Jackson since 1997, but have been coming here regularly since my parents moved here in 1984. Since my husband died, I have gotten more attached to the property; I've been renting out our tiny house since 2021, and have been dedicated to making it as restful and pleasant as possible.

What makes this property unique

What makes it stand out? It's me. At age 65, I work constantly to provide a beautiful experience to those who will appreciate the rustic outdoors. I've created exactly the environment that I would love most.
