About this property

Newly Renovated Historic Ohio Riverfront Home in South Point, Near Huntington

• Relax above the Ohio River in a 3-BR retreat that blends historic character with updated comfort.

• Start with coffee in the sunroom or watch for the hawk nested in the sycamore.

• Grab a fresh pastry from the bakery a short walk away.

• Gather in the great room or unwind on the swing overlooking the river.

• Look for surprises. The pump house from the mid-1800s is the last original building standing, but pieces of history are woven throughout the property.

**Layout & Step-Free Route**
Most living spaces and two bedrooms are on the main level.

• **Main access:** There is a ramp and then a single step up into the front entry. Off the kitchen, there is one step down into the laundry room leading to Bedroom 3.
• **Step-free route:** If steps are a challenge, a flat sidewalk leads directly from the driveway to the back sunroom entrance with no steps required.
• Note: Bathrooms retain a compact, original 1960s footprint, fully updated with modern fixtures and grab bars.

**Historic Charm**
The charm of this house feels authentic — because it is. The original "old house" was built on the property in the mid-1800s.

Pieces of that history are woven throughout this entire home.
You will find it in the solid wood of the salvaged front door, the decorative fireplace, and the staircase leading upstairs (to locked storage).

It's even built right into the walls—years ago, the owner sat next to his father, knocking the mortar off brick after brick so they could be given new life in this 1960s ranch home.

But old isn't always comfortable, and we've taken care of that. The kitchen has been completely renovated and is well-equipped. The bathrooms are small, consistent with a home built in the 1960-70s, but they have been redone as well.

Enjoy spotting little treasures from the 1950s, 1970s, 1980s. Pick up an old novel or kick back and watch Netflix—old and new are thoughtfully blended with you, our guests, in mind.

**Convenient Location**
The house is nestled in small-town South Point but only 10–20 minutes from area attractions. Whether you're visiting family, exploring the area, or simply looking for a place to recharge, this home offers room to slow down.

Guest note: A train track is located about 2 blocks from the property. Thanks to new windows, the indoor space is usually quiet, but you may occasionally hear a passing train whistle. We rarely notice it, but we like to mention it for our light-sleeping guests.

William's house was spotless and had everything 3 adults needed for a 4 night stay. The kitchen was especially well stocked with equipment and staples, allowing us to cook at home instead of eating out all the time. Every morning, we enjoyed eating on the swing overlooking the river. The flowers in bloom were also lovely and the garden was private and quiet. All switches were accurately labled and the house was in a perfect location for us, in our geneological quests! William even helped us out connecting with potential family members he knew! Very responsive in messaging, too. All around, a great place to stay for the value!

This is a beautiful rental. Gorgeous remodeling, particularly the well-equipped kitchen, yet the home retains its historic charm. Three large living spaces allowed plenty of room for us to relax. Spacious outdoor areas invited us to enjoy nature and the Ohio River views. My wife and I had a comfortable two-night stay. Highly recommended for 1-3 couples or a family. Host was very responsive to any questions we had. We’d definitely stay here again when in the area.

About the host

This property has been a cherished part of our family for roughly 150 years. While the home features its original mid-1800s exterior brick, the historic front door, and timeless architectural elements, we have updated every room to integrate modern comforts. We poured our hearts into preserving its legacy, and we hope you find it just as welcoming and restorative as we do.

Why they chose this property

While there are other rentals in the area, none offer this spectacular view of the river. Our neighborhood is a peaceful, welcoming community where neighbors greet one another, and we love that you can walk to a local bakery, a neighborhood pizza shop, and a park, which occasionally hosts small community festivals. It's an ideal setting for relaxing by the water.

What makes this property unique

Our property sits on a truly historic piece of American frontier where the owner's ancestor, a frontier ranger and town founder, originally surveyed the land where the Big Sandy and Ohio Rivers converge. Beyond the sweeping river views, the home combines historic charm with relaxed living. You'll find unique touches throughout, from the original pump house on the grounds to vintage pieces nestled into the decor. A frontier-era cabinet in the great room nook brings the history of the house to life.

There are three large rooms for gathering or slipping away from the group—the mid-century front room, the great room with multiple comfy seating options, and the bright sunroom with wicker furniture and a breakfast table/chairs.

Minutes away from shopping, restaurants, universities, and hospitals, the house offers a great place to put down your burdens and put up your feet.
