Welcome! I’m Padra — SIU Carbondale alum, Marion native, and someone who’s built a life here around family, community, and a genuine love of building things. I’m a mom to two kids, a house rabbit, and two dogs, and when I’m not hosting, I’m digging in the garden or hunting for vintage finds to resell.

Brix is my favorite project — a private getaway with a pool, built for the kind of easy, sunny weekend I wish I got to take more often myself. I thought through every detail: the welcome guide, the towels, the pool schedule, all of it, so guests can just relax without wondering what’s next.

I care deeply about Marion and Southern Illinois — its history, its people, its future — and I wanted Brix to give visitors a reason to see this part of the state the way I do. Whether you’re here for a wedding, visiting family, or just need a reset by the pool, I try to host the way I’d want to be hosted: responsive, honest, and happy to point you toward the best local spots, restaurants, and hidden gems.

Thanks for considering Brix — I can’t wait to have you.

Why they chose this property

Brix sits just steps from Ray Fosse Park, one of Marion’s favorite neighborhood hangouts — and honestly, it’s the kind of park that has a little something for everyone in your group. Whether you’re traveling with kids, athletes, or just love a good evening stroll, you’ll find:

• 🏊aside from your private pool; steps from an Aquatics Center with a pool, water slide, and diving boards (seasonal) for cooling off
• ⚾ Eight lighted baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, and batting cages for the sporty crew
• 🏓 A 6-court lighted pickleball complex, plus a bags/board area for some friendly competition
• 🎨 An amazing Inclusive Playground built so every kid can play together, no matter their ability
• ⛳ Goofy Golf for a low-key, laugh-out-loud afternoon
• 🌳 About 30 acres of green space with shaded picnic shelters and walking paths to just relax

It’s the kind of park that turns “let’s go do something” into an easy decision — and it’s right in Brix’s backyard.

What makes this property unique

• A private inground pool — 16,000 gallons, not shared, not a hotel pool. Perfect for daytime and evening swims.
• Location, location — steps from Ray Fosse Park, so guests get resort-style amenities (aquatics center, pickleball, playgrounds) right outside the door, plus quiet residential privacy at Brix itself.
• Right-sized intimacy — capped at 4 overnight/6 total guests, so it’s built for small groups, couples, or families who want a personal, low-key getaway rather than a big party house.
• Local ownership that actually cares — you live and build in Marion, so guests are staying somewhere backed by someone invested in the town’s growth, not an absentee owner.
