About this property

Wildwood River Retreat

Summary:

Peaceful Waterfront Mountain Retreat w/ Wood Burning Fireplace, Private Hot Tub

The Space:

Immerse yourself in nature as you embark on an unforgettable retreat at this woodland cabin overlooking the scenic Toccoa River.

Step onto any of the decks and lose yourself in a world of relaxation, accompanied by the soothing symphony of birdsong and flowing water. Whether you are grilling on the open deck, lounging on the covered deck in the hanging basket chairs, or soaking in the hot tub on the lower deck, each space offers its own slice of paradise with a touch of serenity and bliss.

Inside the second level, the living area beckons with a wood-burning fireplace, perfect for gatherings around the flickering flames. Dive into your favorite movie on the large flat screen TV, or explore a myriad of streaming services for entertainment. The fully equipped kitchen invites culinary adventures, with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a reverse osmosis filter for the well water. In addition to the dining table, multiple options are available to enjoy casual meals, including a raised bar in the kitchen, outdoor seating on the decks.

When the time is right, retreat to one of the two master suites, each with a queen bed and offering a unique blend of privacy, comfort, and sanctuary. The second-level suite provides easy access to the upper covered deck with views of the river through the trees. Indulge your senses in the large bath with the walk in shower, or a two-person soaking tub with views to the adjacent forest.

The top level bedroom offers views through the forest canopy with glimpses of the river below and bird and wildlife antics in the tree tops. Add in a private bath with walk in shower, and you have a recipe for a relaxing end to the many outdoor adventures that are available. Finally, this suite has a separate loft area with a small library and seating for two.

Lastly, the ground level offers multiple options for entertainment and amusement. The three season rec room features a queen sleeper sofa, wet bar/kitchenette (mini-fridge, microwave, sink), a half bath, a large table, games, and good times, including a large screen TV, multiple board games, and a ping pong table.

Outside on the covered deck, soak in the hot tub while watching the river flow slowly by. To the side is the fire pit area, where evenings come alive with crackling flames and good times under the stars. Anglers will delight in the opportunity to test their skills on-site in the trout fishing stream.

For the adventurous, your retreat on the river is loaded with nearby options all within 30-45 minutes or less. Activities include waterfalls, hiking, whitewater rafting, tubing, kayaking, horseback riding, golf, and fine dining at the Old Toccoa Farms. Or explore the Blue Ridge Lake Recreational Area. Indulge in the options for shopping, local breweries, wineries, and restaurants that are available in and around Blue Ridge before returning to relax and unwind at your Wildwood River Retreat home base.

Cute cabin on the river! While it was a nice atmosphere, the river was not really viewable from the home nor is it accessible to get into. The home had basic pots and pans for cooking, but no extras like spices or foil that you find in some vacation spots. They are doing renovations to the basement area which we did not use, but looks like it will be a nice hangout spot. We ended up not using the hot tub and it didn't look like it had been used much recently. We only used one of the bedrooms and the bed was very comfortable. There isn't a way to block out light in the main floor bedroom unless you close the curtains on the outdoor porch - which wouldn't have been a big deal if not for the spiders. I understand in the woods/mountains there are bugs, there was a HUGE amount of large spider webs all over the home, to the point of making use of the outdoor space limited. Please note that the road to the home is gravel, and as we found out if it rains heavy will wash out in spots so I would suggest a vehicle that sits up a little higher than your average sedan. Overall, I do feel like the property was a good value and would consider it if traveling back to the area. It was a perfect central location to Blue Ridge, McCaysville, and lots of nature trails.
