About this property

Waterfront, dog-friendly 3BR with private beach

Summary:

This waterfront home enjoys an idyllic location on the western banks of Hood Canal, tucked away at the base of mature evergreens with sunshine playing on the private shore. It's a lovely spot for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, swimming, or simply soaking up the sun while taking in the panoramic view. Be sure to keep an eye out for any pretty sailboats and dolphins who may float by! There's much to explore nearby as well, from Lake Cushman, Olympic National Forest, and Olympic National Park to Hoodsport itself with its quaint local shops and restaurants.

The Space:

This home is a showcase of its surroundings, best admired outdoors on the gorgeous patios and rocky shoreline. Sip your morning coffee outside on the cushioned lounge chairs, light the gas grill for a lunchtime barbecue, and spend golden hour sipping wine in the sheltered seating space nestled near the water's edge. Perhaps take the kayaks out for a scenic dusk adventure! In the evenings, set the outdoor table for dinner at sunset and gather around the gas firepit to share stories in the salty sea breeze.

The interior is every bit as beautiful and atmospheric thanks to lofty ceilings and a rear bank of windows framing Hood Canal and the mountain backdrop. The living room exudes comfort and charm, offering warm wood paneling, a smart TV for movie nights, and a wood-burning fireplace encased in stone. There's also a lovely kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a waterfront dining space, and even a telescope to help you spot passing otters, osprey, and bald eagles. No matter your lounging choice, pure bliss is ensured every moment of your stay.

This place was great and exactly as advertised. The waterfront was the best part, and having the kayaks and paddle boards made it extra special. We ate all our meals outside in the blue picnic table. The only downside was pet hair in the linens, but that might be par for the course for pet friendly properties (we do not have pets, could be a problem for folks with allergies). Hope to return next summer.

Perfect Get Away to Old Northwest

The Views. The Sun Cresting the east, whispering across the Canal to the property - the neighborly Sea Lion peeking on us daily and the questions of days gone bye illustrated by gates of entry now overgrown - locked in yesteryears of laughter amongst the backdrop of shells- 2nd Time Stay and there will be a 3rd

Perfect spot to be outdoors

We stayed here for two nights and wished we could’ve stayed a week. The location is perfect for being on the water. We took full advantage of the offered outdoor seating and water equipment. It is only a few miles back down to Hoodsport and the amenities it offered. Lots of hiking in the area. Only slightly negatives were the number of spiders webs in and out of the house, but it didn’t bother us too much. And the driveway takes a bit of careful maneuvering. We had some curious seals hang out with us when we were on the water as the highlight of our trip. I would love to come stay again someday.

We had an excellent time at this home. The Property was just as advertised, easy to find, and very clean. The views were phenomenal. Pay attention to the description though because there is a very steep long stairway to access the home. You will be hauling everything up and down it. The parking is a very slim sliver of gravel next to a narrow lane. Would only fit one large car and one small compact. We had to drive to the end of the lane and turn around in the neighbor's drive way to get out. That being said, not a issue for us. The TV stand had a broken leg and the TV had a bit of a lean, and so we didn't use it. We had fun looking for shells on the beach during low tide. We would absolutely stay here again.

We will be back!

The view is exquisite, the firepit outside, the easy access to the water, the beautiful hearth, so many reasons to come back. We loved the stay so much we almost took additional days off work just to stay a bit longer.

Private with gorgeous views

We loved this property for our short getaway! Very well appointed with new furnishings and cookware. We saw seals and two families of sea otters that would play right in front of the property. Loved access to the kayaks as well!

Lovely location!

Lovely location and fantastic views. Very quiet place to relax for a few days. Note on the VRBO description that this property is a 4 mile drive from downtown Hoodsport, not a 4 minute walk. Hopefully that can be corrected.

Wonderful view.

Amazing clean comfortable house but did not compare to the outside seating /deck area. It was an amazing view and extremely relaxing. The driveway was a bit hard to locate and very steep but worth it for the house.

Fun on the Fjord.

What a beautiful property! At high tide, the Hood canal looks like an infinity pool! The paddle boards were a great touch to explore this beautiful place. The house is super charming with huge windows and thoughtful, modern updates. The beds and furniture were very comfortable and the house was squeaky clean. We loved staying here and would definitely recommend it!

Great view, not very clean

If you only care about the location and view, this place has that. When we arrived, the fridge was dirty and there was dog hair in every corner and on furniture. We tolerated it but it was not pleasant. 10/10 for view and location, 3/10 for the cleanliness.

A Waterfront Dream

Descending the stairs to a spectacular view was just the beginning. The house is so comfy and cozy only rivaled by the well thought out and executed outdoor space. The big windows allowed us to view a family of sea otters, a couple of seals & tons of sea birds. I look forward to returning durning the summer months to make the most of all the property has to offer.

Beautiful setting and home

We loved staying here. Would come again. The parking was tricky as described, but not too hard to navigate. The property is beautiful. We loved using the paddleboards and kayaks each evening. So many shells and rocks on the beach right next to the home. The house had lovely decor, it was very cozy. Beds and comforters were cozy. Loved the remodeled shower and they had dove soap and shampoo conditioner. We made a fire in the fireplace with the wood they had supplied. Loved it.

Girls Getaway

Would definitely stay again and recommend. New appliances in the kitchen with high quality pots/pans and knives. Nicely remodeled bathroom with a roomy walk in shower. Beautiful views inside and out. Great outdoor furniture with multiple sitting areas. Easy access to the beach in front of the house. The beds in the twin bedrooms were noisy and the matresses hard. If you like a firm mattress, than no worries. Be aware there are lots of steps down to the house when you are packing in your groceries and belongings. The parking is narrow and limited.

Updated water front home with beautiful views

The drive way was surprisingly challenging to get out of because of the limited view of north bound traffic. Thankfully 101 was not busy. Be ready for steps and a workout to unload your belongings. There are 2 good sized spots to park and the stairs are not steep. The house has windows across the front that made the stay a blessing. I watched the sunrise daily and watched tide changes, waves, calm water, otters and sea birds. The cove is serene in early morning and dusk and I took advantage of kayaking. The beach can be walked at low tide and the online tide and wind tables were accurate. It's a quick drive to the local market. We went to the Shelton Dollar store to get a few kitchen supplies while we were there.

Beautiful view with lots of pet hair!

We felt that the house was absolutely adorable, and the location right on the water was fantastic. The only problem was the amount of pet hair everywhere. It was on the sheets, blankets, pillows, and the floor. We attempted to wash the sheets before bed on the first night, but it did not resolve the issue. The floor also seemed like it had not been cleaned at all. It was apparent it had not been mopped because there was a mess of dried liquids left on the floor. We did text the number they provided the first night to say that we weren't satisfied with the cleanliness of the space, but we never heard back from them after they said someone would get in touch.

Beautiful setting with some disappointments

We loved the view, proximity to the water, and peaceful surroundings. We loved the full kitchen, comfy beds, plenty of blankets and towels, and size of the home. Both indoor and outdoor living is second to none. However, the kitchen was lacking some essentials like can opener and cheese grater and the amenity of cable tv as advertised was unavailable. After several calls with the the management company and waiting for local support to repair the situation, we were told "cable was not available". We were very disappointed as we are sports enthusiast's and cable tv and a big sports weekend was a big reason for choosing this home. We also had a broken towel rack in the bathroom that was unusable.

It's a beautiful home right on the water. We enjoyed all of our meals outside and used the paddleboards. I really enjoyed watching the sunrise while still lying in bed, and we stargazed each night after spending some time around the fire pit. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, but you must bring your own spices, including salt and pepper, and a cutting board. Additionally, we could not find any additional TP besides the half roll left on the holder, all of the cleaning supplies were empty, and the grill was missing a brush. Something red and sticky was spilled inside the fridge, and what appeared to be little kid hands were on the windows when we arrived. The grill also needed a deep clean before it could be used. The bathroom was well stocked with towels, soap, and Dove products. The shower had a large overhead and a handheld and the instant hot water was really nice after jumping into the cold fjord!

Wonderful Vacation Getaway

This place was a wonderful, a 5 star getaway, and very thoughtfully done. I cannot recommend it enough. My sisters and I came from different parts of the county for a week together, and we settled right in and felt at home. Everything we need was there. The location is stunning so we could just sit outside, or inside, and watch the beauty of the water, tides, and sky change around us. We enjoyed using the kayaks, made fire in the fireplace with the wood they provided, and cooked every day in the well stocked kitchen. Finding the road to the house was a little tricky, but you just have to trust in the directions they give, and voila, you will find it. The management team was very responsive. We discovered that the fire pit outside wasn't working and the very next day they had someone out and fixed it. The place was clean, and newly remodeled, and all the appliances worked great, the dishwasher, coffee maker, washer/dryer, refrigerator, stove, and microwave. It was well stocked with towels, extra blankets, extra pillows, cleaning supplies, and the wifi was fast and responsive even with 3 of us on our devices. This was a vacation we will always remember, and part of that, no doubt, had to do with this lovely house in the beautiful location.
