The region is particularly lively in spring and summer, with outdoor events galore. Each town has its own outdoor fêtes and events: there is always something to do. Open-air markets at local bastide towns are a daily event. Ste Foy la Grande, Bergerac, Eymet, Beaumont, Duras, Monpazier, Issigeac and Monflanquin are just some of the medieval towns within a short drive. From your comfortable residence, you can explore the many treasures of the Perigord: an abundance of prehistoric painted and carved caves, picturesque markets and mediaeval villages, excellent restaurants, outstanding food, some of the world's finest wines (Monbazillac, Bergerac, Pecharmant and just a little further afield, Sauternes, Pomerol, St Emilion). In every direction around Bergerac, the undulating countryside is stripped with vines. Note the proximity of two beautiful castles open to visits: the castle of Bridoire (800m), the castle of Monbazillac (4 km) and also an equestrian center (800m) and a vegetal maze very close.
Other Activities: canoeing, karting, bowling, discotheques, cinema
Golf: Château des Vigiers forms the centrepiece of a spectacular 27 hole golf course designed by Donald Steel who is considered one of the very best 'natural' golf course architects.
The original 18 hole golf course was opened in 1991 and is set amidst plum orchards, oak woods, lakes and vineyards. A fantastic 9 hole course has just been finished, also designed by Donald, to integrate beautifully into the existing course. Golfers are now able to play three different configurations of 18 holes, each with different slopes (from 125 to 129). In addition, there is 2 training zones for chipping, bunkers or rolling, a covered range with targets from 50m to 200m and the 6 hole academy course (1035 m).
The three 9 hole loops:
“La Vallée” Course: PAR 36, 3112m (3403 yards)
“Le Lac” Course: PAR 35, 2937m (3212 yards)
“Les Vignes” Course: PAR 36, 3083m (3372 yards)
now combine to form three different 18 hole combinations:
Vallée & Vignes: Par 72, 6195m (6775 yards) slope 129
Vallée & Lac: Par 71, 6049m (6615 yards) slope 125
Vignes & Lac: Par 71, 6020m (6584 yards) slope 127
The courses are maintained with short rough, promoting quick play and accessibility for higher handicaps whilst still offering a challenge to lower handicappers. In addition, there is a 6 hole academy course, ideal for beginners and, in combination with a covered driving range, practice greens and bunkers, you have an ideal place to begin or improve your game.

About Marie-Jeanne and Daniel
Having lived in Paris for many years, in 1996 we felt the need to move to the Dordogne, for a better quality of life. This is a gorgeous area that we had previously discovered on holiday and with which we fell in love. We now have the pleasure to help our guests from all over the world to discover this beautiful area.
Marie-Jeanne and Daniel purchased this villa in 2002
Why Marie-Jeanne and Daniel chose Ribagnac
This property has seduced us with its exceptional location, without any nuisance, that even the best photos were hard to represent, by its nature, by its volume and brightness, and despite extensive renovation to make.
What makes this villa unique
To summarize the benefits, we prefer to let one of our guests talking: 'An absolutely amazing home and location for the ultimate family vacation. Set in the beautiful French countryside minutes from all amenities is this superb home surrounded by nature at it's best. I would recommend to visitors coming from afar to fly directly into Bergerac and rent a car at the airport. Les Grands Chenes is just minutes from the airport. The villa is outstanding , easily accommodated our group of 20 adults and 3 children. With multiple seating and play areas we never felt crowded or uncomfortable. There is an abundance of bicycles, toys, games and of course the fantastic pool to delight and entertain every member of the group. The gym comes equipped with multiple exercise equipment, sauna and very large hot tub. The property and all facilities are spotlessly clean and everything was in perfect working order. Daniel and Marie-Jeanne were always only a phone call away if one needed information or help. Everyone had such a marvelous time either lazing by the pool, exploring the countryside with its numerous wineries and chateaux or reading a book whilst lying in a hammock. There is so much to do or nothing at all but just to enjoy and relish the moment. This was a holiday of a lifetime over to quickly but memories that will last forever'. Judith Z.
