This charming holiday home is nestled between majestic mountains with snow-capped peaks and a deep-blue fjord landscape. The utterly enchanting surroundings, with their majestic mountain peaks and, not to mention, the foothills of the Folgefonna Glacier, make for an attractive destination for a holiday home getaway by the fjord. Right in the middle of it all stands this cabin, glowing in classic Scandinavian red, waiting to welcome guests. The entire property is built of Nordic pine, which creates a pleasant and cosy atmosphere inside. As soon as you enter the house, the subtle scent of the wood exudes its charm, making you feel right at home.

The countless windows flood the living room with light and offer an unobstructed panoramic view of the fjord, even on overcast days. The ground floor features a cosy living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a bedroom. Two additional bedrooms with double beds are located on the upper floor, inviting you to unwind after an eventful day.

The small annex at the back of this holiday home offers plenty of space to store your fishing gear. You’ll also find a 360-liter chest freezer here, where you can freeze your catch fresh from the water.

The small town of Sunndal, a picturesque village, is very close by, about 1 km away. The nearest larger towns are Rosendal and Odda, where you’ll find supermarkets, sports shops, restaurants, and boutiques.

The surrounding area offers countless attractions for leisure activities. These include the Rosendal Barony—a small, romantic castle—Ænes Church, the Fureberg Waterfall, the Kaiser Wilhelm Trail, and many more. You can find more information in the house or at the tourist information office in Rosendal at the harbour.

Fishing in the Maurangerfjord

Our holiday home is located in a sparselyarea with good fishing spots. Depending on the season, you can fish for cod, pollock, hake, ling, mackerel, flounder, salmon, and other fish. The fishing spots are easily accessible by motorboat. You can also catch fish while fishing from the dock. With a little luck, it’s even possible to catch a salmon or a sea trout. From the dock, you can often spot salmon and sea trout in the fjord.

The fish you catch can be filleted at the processing area on the dock so you can prepare them fresh back at the holiday home. Fishing in the fjord is free, and no fishing permit is required. If you want to fish for salmon or sea trout in the salmon river, you’ll need a fishing licence. The season for salmon and sea trout runs from mid-June to mid-September.

There are several salmon rivers in the immediate vicinity, such as the Ænes Elva, Uskedalselva near Uskedal, etc. The salmon have an average weight of about 3–5 kilogrammes. About 11 kilometres from Fjordhytte 4–7 is the Ænes Elva, a salmon river that never fails to surprise. The largest salmon ever caught in the Ænes Elva weighed 13 kilogrammes. About 1 kilometre from Fjordhytte 4–7 towards the Folgefonn Tunnel is a fast-flowing stream that empties into the fjord. Large salmon are caught at the bridge. However, a fishing licence must be purchased. The price is approximately NOK 100.- per day.

At Furebergfossen, a large waterfall between Sunndal and Ænes, you can fish for salmon for free. Here, the salmon gather in the rush of the waterfall. Fishing at Furebergfossen is an insider’s tip among local anglers. You don’t need a fishing licence here.

The mountain lake “Botnavatnet,” which is within walking distance of Sunndal, is an absolute hidden gem. Here you can fish for trout for free without a fishing licence. It is secluded, located about 800 metres above sea level. It takes about 2 hours to reach on foot.

Along with your travel documents, you’ll receive a map outlining the best fishing spots in the fjord and offering fishing tips.

Fishing regulations for tourism: This holiday home is registered as a specialised tourism fishing operation, so you are permitted to take fish from this property.
