About this property
Cozy cottage from 1840 on the beautiful Loch Rannoch in Scotland
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please read ALL the information provided, look at the photos and at the map, thank you.
Spoiler: The cottage is at Loch Rannoch, in the middle of nowhere. It looks EXACTLY like in the photos. You book Scottish Highlands, you get Scottish Highlands.
Yes, unfortunately there is no free wifi yet (Hello BT), there is mobile network and 4G/5G/LTE almost EVERYWHERE.
Yes, the nearest village & shop are 7 miles, it takes 15 minutes to drive there (not half an hour).
Yes, we do have our own water supply, the tap water is brownish from the moor (not dirty). We also do have our own private beach and the most beautiful garden (I know, unbelievable for the price!).
Yes, it’s not a modern luxury accommodation, but a beautiful historic building.
Yes, the water pressure in the bath is low and yes, it takes longer to rinse your hair (very soft water) - there are two toilets and they do flush, there is a bathtub with a hand-held shower.
Yes, guests have to pay for electricity and yes, radiators run by electricity (unless you wish to run around naked inside the cottage, there is usually no need to turn the heating on in summer).
Yes, electricity could be included in the rent, but then the tariff would go up as well (and we prefer to stay affordable).
Yes, the host is very friendly, helpful and will be happy to help (if guests inform her of any problem or inconvenience whatsoever). During their stay, NOT afterwards.
Yes, the tariff is incredibly low for the quality we offer. I know, we must be stupid.
Our cottage is part of a historic country estate in the Scottish Highlands. It is located at the end of the driveway, set back from the road and the lakeshore. It was completely renovated in 2017 without losing its historic charm of 1840. In addition to a double bedroom with a sink, there is a triple bedroom, also with a sink, and a connecting room with a single bed. The daylight bathroom has a small bathtub with a handheld shower, and there is also an additional second toilet. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher. There is a comfortable dining table for 6 people. The living room is spacious, has a lake view, and offers comfortable armchairs and sofas, as well as an electric fireplace and a TV.
All necessary towels, bath mats, bed linen, and tea towels are provided. Pets are allowed on request, and an additional cleaning fee of £50 is payable in cash on site.
Parking is available free of charge. Please note: Electricity is calculated and billed according to consumption (own meter). Payment is only possible in £ cash on site upon departure.
``` We have our own water supply; the water is slightly colored. It is safe for cooking and washing. We recommend that our guests purchase drinking water (available inexpensively in 5-liter bottles in the village or at the Co-op in Aberfeldy or Pitlochry).
