About this property

Ca'del Gasperin Holiday Home

The vacation home is nestled between picturesque alleyways in the virtually car-free mountain village of Osteno-Claino.
You can reach restaurants, a café bar and an alimentari (small grocery store) on foot.
Claino is a medieval village on the south-eastern arm of Lake Lugano, surrounded by woods and springs. It has retained its original character. The old village center can be reached via historic archways that once served as protection against robbers. Narrow alleyways, pebble steps and narrow squares characterize the townscape. The buildings display ancient decorations and noble coats of arms, reminiscent of the time of the feudal lords. Street names refer to local personalities and professions, such as the “Via dei dottori”. From the village center, old paths lead to important places such as the washing fountain with chapel and the Oratory of Santa Giulia. The old paths also lead to the lakeshore and other parts of the village.

A cobblestone path through the alleyways of the historic center of Claino leads you to the front door. The internal staircase leads down to a rustic wine and food cellar and upstairs to the cozy living area with kitchen, dining table and couch. There is a beautiful fireplace, which is for decoration only, but still gives the room a cozy atmosphere. The kitchen windows look out onto the neighboring church and you have a view of the church tower.
Two steps lead from the living area to one of the bedrooms with a single bed.
Another staircase leads up to the 2nd floor with two bedrooms - a double bedroom and a single bedroom. The bathroom has a shower, washbasin, WC and bidet.
In the basement there is a wine cellar and a laundry room with washing machine.

Enjoy this charming vacation home with Italian flair in the mountain village of Claino.

Experience authentic Italy in an idyllic vacation home in the picturesque mountain village of Claino. Many sights and activities are within short walking distance - ideal for anyone who appreciates peace, culture and nature.

Claino and nearby Osteno invite culture and art lovers on a fascinating journey of discovery. Stroll through winding, romantic alleyways, admire artistic murals and discover impressive Renaissance frescoes on historic facades. The parish church of San Vincenzo Martire is a cultural highlight, as is the charming oratory of Santa Giulia. Nature lovers will get their money's worth with a visit to the grottoes of Rescia or the surrounding waterfalls.

Claino is also an excellent starting point for sporting activities: whether jogging, hiking or mountain biking - the varied surroundings offer ideal conditions for active people. A footpath leads directly down to Lake Lugano and the small beaches of Osteno, perfect for relaxing days of swimming or romantic walks by the water.

For longer excursions, the lively towns of Porlezza (approx. 10 minutes' drive) or Menaggio on Lake Como (approx. 30 minutes' drive) are ideal for a varied day trip with shopping, restaurants or boat trips.

The stairs in the house are steep and the ceiling height is low, therefore only partially suitable for tall people or people with walking difficulties. Increased supervision is required for small children.

A road leads up from the village entrance to the other end of the village with ample public parking. You can also drive right up to the house for loading and unloading.
The village is car-free. From the parking lot, 2 paths lead into the alleys of the village. The shortest route is the one on the right. Follow the lane straight ahead to the village fountain, after the village fountain under the underpass you will find the front door on the right

Osteno is idyllically situated on Lake Lugano and is well suited for quiet bathing spots directly on the shore - perfect for a refreshing swim in natural surroundings. There are no official lidos here, but there are some beautiful, less frequented spots by the water. Those looking for more comfort will find a small public beach in Porlezza, just 5 km away. Another good option is the Lido di Caslano on the Swiss side with a sandy beach, sun loungers and infrastructure.
