About this property

Stylish vacation apartment in old town, close to castle park and city center

The newly furnished apartment in the well-kept half-timbered house impresses with a pleasant room climate, brightness and historical charm. Kitchen and bathroom are also available. It is in an incredibly central location: You can reach Bad Homburg Castle and/or Louisenstraße in 3 minutes on foot. The legendary Casino Royale and the Taunustherme thermal baths are also just a 20-minute walk away.

Bad Homburg is a town full of history and splendor. Situated at the foot of the Taunus mountains, it has witnessed a varied German history since the 18th century. Hölderlin was inspired to write poetry during his stays in Bad Homburg. The Homburg hat was invented here. The legendary Regina motorcycle was made by the Homburg company Horex.

One of the tourist attractions, the Kurpark, whose history spans almost two centuries, is one of the most beautiful and traditional landscape parks in Germany. Built in 1854 in the English style, it was extended and embellished several times by Kaiser Wilhelm II following the discovery of healing springs. The Kaiser-Wilhelms-Bath and the amusement arcade (one of the first of its kind in Europe) still bear witness to the town's heyday. In those days, aristocrats, industrialists and artists from all over Europe often met in Bad Homburg, giving the town a reputation for the “scent of champagne”.

The Homburg hat, invented in Bad Homburg around 1880 and characterized by a stiff brim, a black grosgrain ribbon and a distinctive indentation in the crown, appealed to King Edward VII of England so much that he had new hats made several times by the local milliner and wore them again and again in England. There, the Homburg hat quickly became the trademark of the British upper classes and even found its way into the official dress code of the British court.

In 1896, the Russian Tsar Nicholas II donated an Orthodox church in Bad Homburg, which combines Russian splendor, courtly history and idyllic parkland.

The last German emperor, Wilhelm II, often visited Bad Homburg for spa treatments and left a lasting impression on the town. The former landgrave's palace was converted into an imperial summer residence for him, where he spent several weeks every year. The monuments, fountains and promenades donated by him still give the town a special flair to this day.

The two gigantic cypresses in the palace park are among the oldest (approx. 200 years old) and largest (trunk circumference 6.62 m, crown diameter over 30 m) trees in Germany.

The well-known motorcycle brand Horex originated in Bad Homburg in the 1920s. The memory of the cult machines (think of Regina!) is kept alive to this day by the Horex Museum.
