Grand Haven cottage description
Seeking a Lake Michigan cottage with spectacular views of the Lake and sunsets from your deck? Pair-A-Dice is the quaint cottage in Grand Haven, Michigan on the quiet, peaceful south section of Highland Park just for you and your family and friends.
Your cottage is a three-minute drive to downtown Grand Haven. Or better yet, it is a relaxing 15-minute walk along a safe boardwalk to the Grand Haven waterfront. During your walk, you will experience the beautiful vistas of Lake Michigan and the Grand River along your way.
Built in 1906, the cottage is a historic landmark in Highland Park. Pair-A-Dice retains much of its original charm as many items in the cottage are original. More than 100 cottages are tucked in the sand dunes of this area with a system of boardwalks and walkways built throughout the natural preserve. Pair-A-Dice, one of the few cottages overlooking Lake Michigan and her beach, offers its guests the beautiful sunsets on your large private deck while you drink, dine and scream for ice cream. For quick, safe, and easy access, just step on down the Highland Park Boardwalk to arrive at your beach.
Enjoy watching the Grand Haven Pier’s catwalk lite up at night looking like a string of pearls. Take a midnight stroll through Highland Park or dip in the lake below. Fall asleep with the sound of the waves and enjoy the cool fresh lake breeze. Awaken to the romantic sound of the Pier’s foghorn on the mornings the boaters and fishermen need visual assistance.
A screened-in front porch, with an attached deck, are ideal for reading, sunset watching, and experiencing the fall storms as they rumble in over Lake Michigan. Please close the windows or you will get wet. There is a small back porch for storage, for your bikes, coolers, beach bags, fishing poles and kites.
Enjoy five bedrooms, one full bath downstairs and one full bathroom upstairs. The upstairs has a deluxe new bathroom with a separate shower/bath and toilet with vanity. Also, this addition added a bedroom off the bathroom hallway. Three bedrooms have full beds, one bedroom has a set of twin beds and a fifth bedroom has sailor boys and girls bunk beds. The cottage sleeps eight adults and two children comfortably. Two bedrooms have lake views while you are resting in bed. The new addition bedroom overlooks the protected wooded sand dune nature preserve
September is the locals’ time to be swimming and fishing for Salmon in the Lake. Often the water is warmer than the air and the waves are perfect for body surfing, or watching the surfers. The beach crowds are gone however the city is still open with mostly local characters. The renowned lake getaway of Grand Haven is another must-see spot along Michigan’s Lower Peninsula on the West Coast. Visitors can choose from Grand Haven City Beach, Grand Haven State Park, or North Beach Park, which is just north of Grand Haven in Ferrysburg. For some hidden gems during peak season, you can also head to Olive Shores Park, Buchanan Beach, Rosy Mound Natural Area, or Windsnest Park. Staying in Grand Haven means you're never far from a natural sunbathing spot, a refreshing swim, a charming lighthouse, or a stunning sunset.

Easy yo follow check out instructions are found in a book located in the kitchen to explain how to check out.
In the ten years of sharing Pairadice with the VRBO family of guests only one time did I have to request additional cleanning fees.

About the host

Family traditions are strong here as the cottages are passed down to future generations, with little turnover to new owners. My dream came true when I had the opportunity to buy Pairadice on the ridge overlooking Lake Michigan and the beach, in 2013. I love sharing Grand Haven with friends and now with your family. This is truly the most beautiful place in the world, (in the summer and fall). Come make your own family traditions and memories here.
Why they chose this property
Please do not rent a Cottage in Grand Haven that does not include a front row seat to the most beautiful late afternoon sunsets. Did you know in the Summer the sunset can last for over an hour starting at 9:30 at night? Every sunset is different and you will say each night, "That was the best sunset that I ever saw!"
Most of the rental cottages require a short walk to the beach or gathering point to see a sunset. You have the option to view from your Pairadice deck or inside glass porch. Priceless!!
If you seek to experience a peaceful, relaxing, mother nature vacation, this is your spot. Overlooking the beach during the day and watching sunsets that rivals the sunsets of the Pacific Islands. Your choice to walk, saunter, bike, roller blade, skate board, run with little need or desire to drive your car. If your too tired or sunburned to walk into town, walk down the steps, cross the street and there you will find a beach restaurant and bar, Notos.
Enjoy the miles of board walks that traverse highland park 110 cottages. Find the owls nesting at night the baby dears playing in the woods and the song of the tap tap tap from the red headed wood peckers. Your children have their own private park to plany hide and seek, capture the flag and geo scavenger hunts.
This is a vacation for living in the now, a time to be visiting life as it should be lived.

What makes this property unique
Experience what it is like to live like a local in this exciting friendly, safe summer tourist town without being in town. You will quickly feel at home here at Highland Park overlooking Lake Michigan Water. One of the few highland park cottages on the bluff with a view of the lake and a deck to watch nightly sunsets. Their are boardwalks and stairs leading down to the private secluded sandy beach, fresh lake, no salt or sharks here, however there are waves for body surfing and paddle boarding.
Pairadice was built in 1904 and continues to have the cottage feel with modern updates. On demand water heater, washer and dryer, and new bedroom and bathroom with separate vanity addition. My focus is to keep the cottage charm and simple slow pace life style to ensure your family will want to come back every summer to Grand Heaven.
