About this property
Velvet Cottage by Interhome
type of building: End-of-terrace house. size of property: 140m². year of construction: 1820. no youth groups.
The two-storey holiday house is located approximately two kilometres northwest of Llangollen in North Wales, postcode LL20 8DF
The cottage was built in 1820 and was fully refurbished in 2010. It offers a living space of 140 m² and can accommodate up to five persons in three bedrooms. The ground floor is approximately 70 m² and comprises a lounge with a satbox and smart TV, DVD player, a fully equipped kitchen/dining area, a study space and a drying room. The first floor is accessed by a three section staircase and comprises a large superking master bedroom, a twin bedroom and a small single bedroom. A large bathroom features a toilet, bath tub, shower and basin. Unlimited fast WiFi/broadband is included in the price. Due to the outside access steps and internal staircase, the cottage is not suitable for persons of restricted mobility or medical conditions such as asthma.
The cottage features its own private parking bay for one car with space for another car on the public lane below the cottage. A terrace at the front of the cottage features garden chairs. A private sunbathing terrace at the back of the property can be used for barbecues (equipment provided) and sunbathing on a lounger and garden chairs. The garden is completely enclosed and is suitable for well behaved dogs.
Nestling in a "hidden" valley at the foot of National Trust owned Velvet Hill, Velvet Cottage is the perfect base to explore this wonderful area. Our cottage is over 200 years old and retains some of the original features (exposed beams, quarry tiled flooring, low doorways). A careful modernisation has helped retain the special traditional Welsh cottage character with modern accommodation standards.
Although the cottage has that "away from it all" feel, just 5 minutes' walk away is a farm shop and a highly-rated country bistro. The countryside is spectacular with some of the best walking in the United Kingdom, right from the doorstep. Llangollen is famous for a wide variety of outdoor sports and the Welsh coast is just one hour's drive away to the North or to the West. The city of Liverpool is one and a half hour's drive away and is well worth a day trip.
