Our tranquil week at the lock-keepers cottage.

The cottage was very secluded and tranquil. Plenty of outdoor space and seating with good sunbeds arround the pool. The property is in two parts, A small self contained unit, with it's own shower room and toilet. The main house slept up to ten people, however as there was only one toilet and the bedrooms were interlinked it was difficult not to disturb one another. The kitchen was not well equiped and some areas not very clean. The cottage is located in a beautiful area and Laurent was very friendly.

Spontaneous and lovely relaxed stay

We booked our stay pretty spontaneously 1 day before arriving and everything went easy, many thanks to Laurent! He replied fast and has always been friendly and confidential. We felt welcome and enjoyed our stay for 5 nights in this cute House with alls its opportunities. The pool was a welcome cooling off. Our dog was roaming free on the property which he loved. The property is surrounded by nature and we enjoyed the quietness and to be just all alone by ourselves. The different possibilities to cook inside and outside, where to eat and the pizza oven were a highlight to us. After these days it was hard for us to leave and we would have loved to stay for the whole summer and just enjoy being there.

Maison charmante et accueillante, au calme et sans aucun vis-à-vis. Très grande piscine avec jolie vue sur la campagne, propice au repos mais à 5mn en voiture de toutes les commodités.La maison totalise 6 chambres, pour 3 d’entre elles il faut passer par d’autres chambres pour y accéder.Le propriétaire est sympathique et discret.Idéal si vous souhaitez vous ressourcer en famille ou avec des amis proches.

Fijn huis met veel extra's

We verbleven een week met vrienden, waaronder 4 tieners, in het fantastische huis van Laurent. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien: het heeft een mooie bbq, een pizzaoven, zitjes met veel schaduw rondom het hele huis en wat erg fijn was tijdens de erg warme dagen: een geweldig zwembad. De kinderen zijn de hele tijd op pad geweest met de kano en hebben gevist en verder goed gechilled bij het huis. Het huis ligt er prachtig bij in het groen. Een goede bakker en slager zitten aan het eind van de weg en binnen 10 minuten rijden is een heel fijne grote supermarkt. Laurent is een erg goede host. Hij reageerde snel op vragen en kwam langs om even iets te checken. We hebben echt een super fijne week gehad!

Prachtige ligging en omgeving

Mooie rustige ligging, ook vanuit het zwembad een prachtig zicht, de sluis met eiland heeft een unieke charme! Buiten meer dan voldoende plaats, met aangename zitplaatsjes en een prachtig zwembad. Goede ontvangst door Laurent, die ons de nodige privacy gaf. Binnen zijn de bedden zeer goed! Alleen de keuken mocht voor ons iets beter ingericht zijn. Een aanrader voor een ontspannende, rustige vakantie!

Charming property

Overall the property provided a good experience and with a few tweaks the property could be even better. The outside area including pool and seating areas was very good and the separate accommodation unit was also very handy. The layout of the house takes a bit of getting used to but we eventually found our way around! The canal setting adds to the overall ambiance of the place. The kitchen had all the equipment but needs a more practical layout and upgrade including moving the main fridge and freezer into the main kitchen instead of in a separate area. Also the cooking equipment needs to be better laid out for more practical access. The WiFi coverage was generally quite good considering the space it needed to cover. Overall we had a good holiday and the property provided good value in a good location.

Beautiful property in perfect setting

The house is beautiful from every angle especially when viewed afar across the fields by the river. It is an historic building with charm and a story. The Lock setting is stunning viewed from the terrace - and the size of the terrace is great for outdoor living. The host Laurent was charming, friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this property if you want peace, rural and wildlife.

Prachtige lokatie in sprookjesachtig authentiek huis

Je lijkt een stap terug in de tijd te doen, met alle comfort van nu. Het privé zwembad is werkelijk voortreffelijk. Diep en ruim met een prachtig stilleven als uitzicht. Diverse terrassen rondom het huis. Het echte Franse sfeertje vonden wij 's-ochtends aan de voorzijde van het huis. Zonnig en sfeervol met uitzicht op de sluis. Het huis is ruim. Je moet wel rekening houden met een aantal doorloop slaapkamers die met elkaar in verbinding staan. De keuken is van alle gemakken voorzien. Ruim fornuis met grote oven en veel pannen. Van alles is voldoende. De eigenaren zijn zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het huis staan alleen in de omgeving. Geen buren in de verre omgeving, met uitzondering van de buren aan de overkant van de rivier Isle. Gevoel van volledige privacy en vrij wonen. Heerlijk.

Tout simplement magique , endroit idyllique pour se reposer et se ressourcer , pêche , canoë , piscine , ping-pong , vélo ..., le tout au bord du canal de l’isle , avec cerise sur le gâteau , l’occasion de faire éclusier ! Wild place

The setting is breath-takingly pretty surrounded by river, pool, locks and farmland. The house is expansive and nicely furnished. We had the most delightful, relaxing, adventurous and playful stay.

Les propriétaires sont très agréables mais la maison, bien que joliment décorée, n'était pas à la hauteur de nos attentes. Notre déception est due au fait que la maison est non clôturée et non sécurisée . Le passage incessant de pêcheurs et promeneurs qui ont vue directe sur la terrasse et la piscine donne un sentiment de malaise. De plus les portes et fenêtres sont à l'ancienne avec un simple loquet et pour certaines pas de volet. L'ensemble a fait que nous avons écourté notre séjour (4 nuits au lieu de 7 réservées et payées) car nous ne nous sentions pas du tout en sécurité. Compte tenu de la configuration, c'est peut-être compliqué de clôturer le terrain. Mais dans ce cas il faut avertir les locataires sur l'annonce et surtout renforcer la sécurité des ouvertures. En l'état, nous trouvons que cette location est sur-vendue C'est très dommage car la maison est charmante!

Nous sommes étonnés de votre réaction car les photos montrent bien la situation de la maison, un écran de végétation cache la piscine et de la vue des quelques promeneurs qui peut y avoir au bord du canal et de l’ecluse. D’autre part toutes les fenêtres ont des volets. Comme on peut le voir également sur les photos. Depuis 14 ans que nous louons cette maison nous n’avons jamais eu de telles remarques. Les fenêtres sont authentiques c’est ce qui fait le charme de cette maison. Difficile d’etre plus claire avec les 26 photos, elles parlent d’elles .mêmes . Avoir une piscine privative à débordement, une vue exceptionnelle sur la campagne et voir le coucher du soleil qui se reflet sur l’eau de la piscine, la maison correspond bien à sa valeur locative en haute saison.

Prachtige locatie aan het eind van een doodlopend wegje. Naast een sluis en een rivier waarin kan gezwommen of gevaren worden. Het zwembad zelf is ruim en op het diepste gedeelte ca. 180cm diep. De verhuurders zijn eerlijke mensen die in de buurt wonen, maar ons zeker niet lastig gevallen hebben. Een aanrader.
