About this property
Massanutten For Kids II - w/ low ropes, playroom, and family fun!
This classic chalet-style cabin is set back from the street at the end of a court on a beautiful wooded lot... one of the largest in Massanutten. It backs to common space and has ample privacy, yet is minutes from all Massanutten activities and amenities.
The cabin features over 2500 square feet of indoor living space, a brand new kitchen (2023), a wrap around deck, and screened in porch. It's a great space for families, small groups, and kids of all ages.
The cabin has three levels of living space, three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a well-appointed and beautiful kitchen, a walk-out basement, rec room, a playroom for the kids, a flat driveway (a luxury around here in the winter), screened in porch, and a large wrap-around deck.
- For the kids - Inside Every vacation home has a few board games and a deck of cards (this home is no exception), but we know how excited our own kids are when they find something new... so our playroom is stocked with blocks, dinosaurs, cars, trains, puzzles... etc. So there is plenty to keep even the little ones entertained on a rainy day.
- For the kids - Outside And if its not a rainy day? We know that families come to Massanutten to enjoy the outdoors, and since our lot has such great outdoor space we wanted to provide a few options for the kids right here at the house. We've set up a low ropes triangle and balance beam and have plenty of wooded space for the kids to play. We also have cornhole boards and bean bags for your use at the house.
- Amenities - We designed and furnished this cabin with our own family in mind. We love the outdoors and open spaces, and we love the look of exposed beams and the classic chalet-style cabin... Inside we wanted CLEAN (our home ALWAYS will be) and we wanted modern decor and amenities. and a fully stocked beautifully renovated kitchen for all your culinary needs.
- Things to do - Our welcome packet includes many pages of recommendations for family friendly activities in and around Massanutten. We've done it all, and pointing you in the right direction so you get the most out of your vacation is our specialty! And of course, you can venture outside the resort to the nearby Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah River, Luray Caverns, local wineries, lavender farm... etc. Options for outdoor entertainment in The Valley are endless.
- We make it easy - We always provide our guests with linens and towels, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, and other cleaners. We also provide starter sets of paper products like paper towels and toilet paper. This house was in an excellent location, very clean, with a decently stocked kitchen. It is especially well suited for younger kids. We stayed with our (very tall) teens and family friends with teens over New Years and it worked well for a few nights, with a couple of them sleeping on couches in the basement.
Our family had a wonderful stay at this property for a short family getaway. The property is clean and has so many thoughtful details to make for a magical stay, especially for families with children. While we visited the water park and Luray Caverns we truly could have never left the cabin and had just as an entertaining stay. This is definitely a property our family would visit again!
Beautiful Woods Retreat nestled in Massaunutten Resort
Couldn't ask for a better spot! close to the slopes and plenty of space for your group to spread out. Check in was super easy and owner provides a list of all home information. Check out was straight forward and home comes with all the essentials. Looking forward to staying here again!
This house is perfectly set up for babies and toddlers. The toy nook upstairs and playroom (with air hockey table) were big hits- we had a 7 month old and two three year olds. It’s super close to the water park and ski slope, so you won’t run out of things to do on a family vacation.
We had a great time staying at this comfy mountain house, was such a peaceful location, and easy access to the adventure park and waterpark. Will definitely stay here again, my family had a great time!! Made tons of memories.
Our stay here was wonderful. This house has everything to keep your kid engaged. My 3 year old enjoyed the toys and the books. Beautiful house with serene views.
We had a small stay with terrible weather, but the owners are right that there are a TON of toys for the kids and we didn't have any complaints. The best part is the basement with the toys is separate from the bedrooms, so the kids can play without having to wake up all the adults.
Tucked away at the top of the mountain is this beautiful chalet. So well kept, clean and well-stocked. This home has it all. What a great way to spend a family weekend!
My family has a wonderful vacation and this house was part of the great experience. It was clean and beautiful. The owners were communicative and we had all the information we needed on the printouts they provided. We would stay again!

Thanks Peggy. We're glad the house was a great fit for your family and would love to have you back sometime!
For Kids II is perfect for a family getaway. We stayed here with family friends (4 adults and 2 children <5 in total) and this place was perfect! Centrally located to all the mountain activites and made it easy to get from all the various activities. The property itself has plenty to entertain the kids, so there is no need to pack all the extra toys! We will be back!
Took a short trip with the kids to spend the day at the water park, stayed two nights and couldn’t have been happier with this rental. The kids had a blast at the house and were very well occupied in our down time relaxing after a long day in the water!
This was our family’s second time staying in this home while visiting Shenandoah, Massanutten, and other sites in the area! The home is very clean, nicely appointed, and has had some nice updates. The “high ropes” course in the yard is tons of fun for the kids. The location is fantastic and very quiet. The VRBO site and description are accurate. We would stay again!
We loved our trip out to Massanutten and this was a great place to call home base. Spotless house with plenty of space, including multiple playroom areas and an open finished basement. So many activities for the preschool / elementary set. Good communication and easy instructions.
We had a wonderful time in Massanutten during our Christmas holiday. Matt & Katie have the house set up nicely with good sleeping beds & plenty of toys & activities downstairs in the playroom for the kids to do. The TV in the downstairs room was a great asset for the family to hang out together & watch a movie. Matt was quick to reply to any of our needs & we would recommend their home for your mountain visit for sure!
A great place for a long fall weekend as a family. The house was very clean - one of the very rare VRBOs we’ve stayed at where my son doesn’t leave sneezing due to dust. Our kids loved the zip line, rope course and jumping in the leaves, along with the air hockey table. Great launching point for both the water park and Shenandoah NP. Only fyi, bring soap for the shower and coffee beans/pods. We had them with us, so wasn’t an issue. We would definitely stay again!
This house was really great for small children, as advertised. Our kids—3 and 5–loved it! There are so many toys and games and puzzles, Disney+ on the TV, carpeted steps, bathroom near the kids bedroom, a screened porch, a small ropes course in the yard.
We were so pleased with this stay. Highly recommend to families with small children.

We met at James Madison University and live in Northern Virginia with our three children. We volunteer at school, church, and with youth sports. We spend as little time as possible waiting in Tyson's Corner traffic.
We started coming back to The Valley years ago and found Massanutten to be the perfect weekend vacation spot for our family. This was something that I definitely did not anticipate as a ski instructor here in 1999.
We were very excited to purchase this home in the Summer of 2014, and have had fun preparing a great space to share with our friends and our guests.
Why they chose this property
We love the activities that Massanutten Resort provides, as well as the proximity to the endless opportunities for outdoor recreation in the Shenandoah Valley.
We love the look and feel of this house, but it's the outdoor space that makes it. Many of the lots at Massanutten are on fairly steep slopes and the outdoor space isn't as usable as we would like. We really wanted the kids to be able to play outside, and we knew right away that we could create an outdoor space here that our kids would love. This relatively level lot is one of the biggest in Massanutten, it backs to common space, and the house is set back at the end of a court.
What makes this property unique
There are tons of activities at Massanutten Resort and elsewhere in The Valley, but you don't even need to go anywhere to appreciate the outdoors from this home.
If you want to leave the house in the morning and come back at night, then you can stay anywhere. We like this place because our kids don't want to leave... and that means we can be more flexible when planning (or not planning) our days.
