Second stay here and we enjoyed it again. It's quite compact but enough space to relax, cook and even entertain some guests on the roof deck. Recommended.

Was lovely, made you feel like you were the only ones on that bay!
Very cute cottage. Location is right on the water. The upper deck provides a great place to relax and enjoy the water views. The front of the house does border the public parking lot for the Fairhaven boat launch ramp. This being said, we were not bothered by excessive noise or unwanted traffic. The location is ideal for exploring New Bedford, the Cape, and Newport, RI. It was very quiet overnight.
Can’t beat the location. Lovely views. Perfect small town beach right out the door. Property is small, but as depicted in the listing. Great location to head to the Cape if you want. Plenty to do in the New Bedford and Fairhaven areas.
Perfect for a couple or small family. We loved being right on the beach yet having privacy. Having a yard was nice too. Roof deck and sun room are fantastic spaces. Cottage is artistic both inside and outside. Shopping and restaurants and other beaches nearby.
It's a compact place, but with all the basics covered, and plenty of living space including a great deck area. Amazing view, and the entertainment of folks launching and retreiving their boats. 5 mins drive from multiple stores up in Fairhaven and 10minutes to the restaurants and bars of New Bedford. It's a great base to explore the whole south coast and I've already booked another two weeks here.
This cozy cottage is so cute and comfortable. It has charm and sits right on the water with it's own little beach. The view from the upper deck is amazing and you can even see Ned's Point lighthouse beaming on a clear night from Mattapoisett. Fairhaven and New Bedford are nostalgic towns full of history and good restaurants. The owners are great with communication and aim to please!!

Thanks so much for your kind words about the cottage and so glad you enjoyed your stay! Hope to see you back next year!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The minute you step inside you're transported to a place of relaxation and delight. You can start relaxing right away, because all the necessities, other then food, is provided. The lovely artwork and the outside 2nd story deck are inviting you to sit down, relax, and start your vacation!
The cottage is really cute, very thoughtful use of the space. We really enjoyed people watching, though that is the reason I only gave 3 stars...not a whole lot of privacy!
On the plus side, if you're a biker the house is close to the many bike paths in the area, and easy access to the town beach which is beautiful.
Overall, a really relaxing week!

Thank you for your review. Sorry that the temporary pickle ball game set up by a neighbor for a couple of days, was so close to the cottage. We spoke to a town official about this, and they have assured us that this will not be an on-going occurrence. Our apologies again if it caused you any inconvenience.
This cottage is cute as a button. Perfect for a couple with 2 kids looking to relax. It is small, and that is what we loved about it. It is simply perfect! It had all we needed and then some. The kitchen is tiny but I had everything I needed to cook a killer chicken piccata and my home made pizza. The piece the resistance was the deck. Witnessed beautiful sunrises and great breezes up there. Suzanne was a very responsive host. I really really hope to be able to come back here. Thank you Suzanne and Steven for sharing this slice of heaven!

Lovely!
The cottage is adorable. I thoroughly enjoyed the upper deck, especially being able to sit up there in the sun or the shade, the nearly continuous breeze is fabulous, and I loved the tiny gardens. I appreciated the raft and thoroughly enjoyed my week on Buzzards Bay. Recommendation for Turks Seafood was much appreciated, yes a bit pricey, but you can get fresh fish there daily (cash only) including pre-cooked lobster meat, as well as delicious sushi and other stuff at restaurant portion (cash or credit). We also enjoyed Moby Dick Brewing Company and Quahog's Tavern in New Bedford. Being next to the boat launch also offered some fun people-watching experiences. Thank you!

Relaxing Respite On the Water
Lovely little cottage on the water with beautiful small garden courtyard leading to spiral staircase with second story deck overlooking the water. Nice place to kayak, fish, swim at the beach in front of the property or launch a boat from the public boat launch adjacent to the property. Outdoor shower extremely convenient. The front 3 season room is worth every minute to sit and read, enjoy a meal with family and watch the sun rise. Recommend fans to circulate air on hot, humid summer days.
Couldn't find a better place to watch fireworks overlooking the bay on July 4th! Close to town and conveniences. Nicely maintained property and very friendly owner who is accessible if needed and responds promptly. Would definitely recommend to small families or a couple looking for a relaxing getaway.

Thanks again for your kind words. Have a great summer
I booked this knowing that it is next to the parking lot for the boat launch for the town. The owner has successfully laid things out so you don’t see the parking lot much from inside the house. I didn’t realize that I would occasionally smell and hear stuff from the parking lot (people smoking weed, idling in their diesel pickup or talking loud on their phones). That interrupted the feel of seclusion overlooking the beautiful bay. The cottage is cute but compact. It’s fine for two people and the best thing about it is the three season porch and second floor deck. We had an issue with an ermine (weasel) who lives under the house coming into it while we were there. We had to leave the rental after only three days but the owner reimbursed us and was planning on having someone remove the animal.
My family and I stayed at the cottage for one week. We absolutely loved everything about it. The views from the deck and sunroom are both amazing. Sitting with our coffee or a glass of wine just enjoying the scenery was so relaxing. The cottage is decorated beautifully. We loved the beachy feel and the paintings. We had one rainy day while visiting but it was so cozy and welcoming in the cottage that we had a great time staying in and playing games. The garden is also beautiful and adds a feeling that you are the only ones around. The kitchen is well stocked so we were able to cook anything we wanted if we chose not to go out. Our daughters had a great time playing on the little beach. We also visited West Island beach once and the girls loved the sand there. We visited everywhere from Plymouth to Provincetown and all drives to those locations were easy and none were terribly far. This was our first visit to Massachusetts and we definitely cannot wait to visit again! Thank you so much for such a beautiful place to stay!

Location is Great
The location and roof deck are amazing where sunrise is gorgeous from the roof deck! There is an air conditioner which was not left on for us, so if you're renting in the summer you could request it be left on for you. It can take a few days to cool off the house, and the 2nd bedroom never cooled off for us. Rain definitely changed the air quality and moisture. The laundry service includes 1 bath & 1 hand towel per adult, and you will receive directions to the laundry mat if you need to launder them. The kitchen is quite small but you have a fridge & stove. You are left with some paper goods which you are asked to replace. We found rattan furniture with thin cushions in the living room a little uncomfortable but that's individual. There is a small TV in a 3 season porch. The cottage is right behind the dunes to the beach and beside the beach parking lot.
We loved everything about the cottage. It was cozy, quaint and felt very homey. The natural light coming in was so welcoming. The decor was so well done and your paintings added the perfect touch. The sunroom and rooftop deck were our favorite places of all! Again, we loved this place!
The roof terrace to this cottage is fabulous, wonderful views. And direct access to the water, although shallow and stony is also great. But the cottage needs updating in the bathroom, kitchen and air conditioning to enable it to live up to its promise.
We spent a week at the rental in mid-July. It is a charming little cottage, perfect for two or a small family. A few steps from the beach, we spent most of our time on the deck accessible via a spiral staircase. Most notable was the decor of thhe home. The owner is an artist and the home is decorated with her beautiful paintings nearly everywhere you look. The house also is well stocked with many supplies you don't know you need until you need them! Hope to stay here again in the future.
Beach side getaway and a great jumping-off point for day tripping!
Our family of four rented this cottage for two weeks. We know the general area quite well, but had never spent much time in this particular corner of Fairhaven. We loved it! Our stay consisted of day trips around the area to see friends and family interspersed with downtime at the cottage. This cute little house has been thoughtfully furnished and decorated to optimize a small space. Well-placed mirrors give the impression of greater space in tight quarters. The porch and roof deck are particularly great and that's where we spent the majority of our time at the house. My children (6 and 8) especially loved being able to roll out the door to the small beach beyond to dig sand and hunt shells and hermit crabs; I loved being able to sit on the roof deck enjoying the view while still having one eye on them as they played by the water. The many fences, trellises and pergolas around the property are both lovely to look at with their gorgeous vines and flowers, but more importantly, they add a creative and well-planned element of privacy to a cottage that is really RIGHT on a public boat launch parking lot. One item of note: we were here during the 4th of July, and there was a LOT of fireworks activity in the parking lot for several nights book-ending the holiday. Speaking for us, I found it kind of amusing (my husband, maybe a little less amused by the third night), and our kids sleep like rocks once asleep, so ultimately, it was no biggie. However, if late night fireworks right outside your door would be a significant bother to you, I'd recommend that you take a pass on the week of July 4th! Overall, a fun stay for us in a lovely little cottage!

About the host
Hosted by Suzanne Foxwell
We had talked about buying a piece of property by the water for quite some time and had looked at a few pieces but never really connected with anything. We came to Fairhaven one day to pick something up at West Marine, saw an open house sign and decided to take a look. When we saw the cottage it was structurally sound but did not have any curb appeal. Suzanne immediately saw the potential to make the cottage a very cozy get away spot so an offer was made and accepted and within a couple of months the initial transformation was completed. We put all of the fencing around the property and then Suzanne planted the rose pushes that climb the front fence and planted a flower garden behind the fence. We added a porch on the east end of the property when we first purchased and then in 2010 we decided to remove the outdoor porch and replaced it with a three season room with a large deck above.
Why they chose this property
We like the Fairhaven area because of the ease of getting to places like Newport RI, Plymouth Ma and Cape Cod without living with the crowds that are associated with these areas
What makes this property unique
We like to drive to the bike trail and walk the mile and 1/2 to the center of Fairhaven for breakfast. There are many great restaurants in the South Coast area that we also enjoy. With Buzzards Bay right outside the door, kayaking, sailing, wind surfing and other water activities are enjoyed throughout the summer.
