At the south-west end of France in the heart of the Basque country is the town of Anglet, a small seaside pearl facing the crisp Atlantic Ocean. Less famous than its neighbor, Biarritz, it is however known to surfers, as well as lovers of thalassotherapy and beautiful sandy beaches. Besides, Anglet beach is located just on the other side of the northern point of the lighthouse of the city of Biarritz.
Anglet is part of the Basque province of Labourd. The city is 10% covered with pine forests, especially those of Pignada, Lazaret and Chiberta. The sandy coast started 200 km north at the tip of Grave, at the end of the Gironde estuary, ends at Anglet, and is punctuated by numerous dikes cutting the shore. In Anglet, where the layout of the maritime public domain has just been updated, there has been a decline of the coast by forty meters since 1978. With its multiple bays and inlets, this area constitutes a laboratory for coastal erosion monitoring techniques.
Anglet, over 4.5 km, has 11 beaches from north to south: La Barre beach, Cavaliers beach, Dunes beach, Ocean beach, Madrague beach, Petite beach Madrague, Corsaires beach, Marinella beach, Sables d'Or beach, Club beach and VVF beach.
The French Basque coast designates the part of the Aquitaine coast between the cave of the Chamber of Love in Anglet and the Spanish border.
The cave of the Love Chamber is part of the heritage of the town. In its 2007 prize list, the National Council of Flowered Cities and Villages of France awarded four flowers to the municipality in the competition of flowered cities and villages. The Izadia ecological park was inaugurated in November 2007 in the Barre area.
?Skateboarding: the city has a skatepark by the sea (opposite La Barre beach). It has a curb in 'L' and rounded inside, a quarter of 1.80 meters in height, a pyramid, a spine, a rail, a flat-bar a double table (small 20 cm high, large approximately 40 cm high), as well as a triple spine (with a triangular top). It also has three concrete hollows. The skatepark occupies an area of approximately 200 meters in length and approximately 50 meters in width;
?Surfing and board sports: the various beaches host numerous international male and female competitions. Anglet is a spot recognized worldwide (the city hosted during the summer of 2005 the French sliding sports championship, the Quiksilver Air Show, the O'Neill Pro, the O'Neil Angel's Challenge, the KanaMissCup , the Coupe de France Open Bodyboard, the Wake n'Ski Tour and the OP Royal Single Trophée. The Anglet Surf Club [32] is the biggest club in France with more than 1200 licensees, it also has many champions in its ranks like Thomas Bady, Romain Laulhé, Tim Boal, Caroline Sarran.

?Ice hockey, figure skating and ice dancing at the Barre ice rink. Anglet Hormadi Élite's ice hockey team plays in Division 1;
?Figure skating: the 1981 French figure skating championships were held at the Barre ice rink for 3 events: men's, ladies' and artistic couples.
