We loved the location. It’s a lovely basement apartment below a huge house. It’s a 15 minute walk to Union Station and blocks away from the Supreme Court. We really enjoyed our stay in DC in part because of this lovely apartment!
Great location, very clean. Apartment was very spacious. Close walking distance to restaurants and metro stations. Would definitely stay here again. Check in was super easy and host was great.

Kori was a wonderful guest. We'd welcome her back!
Really great space!! It was awesome to have off street parking and in a really cute and conveniently located neighborhood. I would absolutely stay again.
The stay was good. The location is amazing. The only issue we had was the destroyed wood floor. We had to put mats down so we wouldn't get splinters in our feet.
My family of five (2 adults and 3 kids under 12) enjoyed our stay here. The location was excellent to be able to walk or take the metro. The apartment was clean and had what we needed, but please be aware that this is an apartment in an old home. There are some things that are worn out or quirky, but we felt safe and the space was clean, quiet, and family friendly. The host responded to questions/requests, and the free parking was right there by the apartment entrance.
My wife and our 21 year old son stayed here for its close proximity to all the DC must see places, it didn’t let us down. The location is outstanding as it lies within a 15 min walk to the metro and a 12 minute walk to the nations capital. The historic house is located within a very nice and safe neighborhood and the owners were very friendly and accommodating. Off street parking is available so we parked our car and didn’t use it our entire visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
Excellent place to stay near all that the capital has to offer. Very easy to walk to most places. We walked back after the July 4th fireworks from the wharf with the kids who are 11 and 12. It’s only a 15 minute walk to the union station as well as 10 to the capital building area. Uber was helpful and easy to get in this area as well. Highly recommend this property.
Great place to stay! Neighborhood felt safe. Able to park our car their the entire stay and then walk 20-30 minutes to Museums. The Union Pub was only a 9 minute walk and had delicious food! The place itself was clean, plenty of bedding, towels, full kitchen, laundry. They even had a little fan in the bedroom, which I appreciated. I will definitely stay here again in the future.

We are so glad that you enjoyed the apartment. Please come again.
The basement apartment was exactly as advertised. The location is great - easy to access Union Station & the capital. The house is on the corner with a light, so occasionally some road noise when cars rev off, but nothing that isn't expected in city living/staying.
It was a nice apartment and well furnished. I loved the touches of modern and antique. Nice walking distance to a few sites with beautiful brownstones along the way. The cement stairs down to the door were a bit steep, however.

About the host
Hosted by Katy Kelly
The Kelly family is the second family to live in the main house, which was built in 1876 by Maj. Samuel Walker for his family.
Why they chose this property
One of the premier properties on Capitol Hill, the carriage house, the stable and the east side of this Victorian house were completed in 1876. By 1886, Maj. Samuel Walker had more money and ten children so he added the west side of the house, the third floor and the porches in the style of Charles Eastlake, the English architect who simplified Victorian architecture and flattened its rounded gingerbread. All of the first floor ceilings—except the hall—are tin and so is a bedroom ceiling on the second floor.
What makes this property unique
One of the great pleasures of the house is that it remains much as it was when first built. Modernizing was done slowly, with care and caution. On the chance that electricity was just a fad, Major Walker only electrified every other arm of the chandeliers in the living room and the study and left the others as gas lights. The gaslights still work--and so does the electricity.
