ROSE COURT COTTAGE is located on the property of what is known in Arcata as THE STORYBOOK HOUSE. It is a private street-level studio/1-bath upscale vacation rental, which can accommodate 4 guests, and is the featured vacation rental represented by ARCATA STAY LODGING NETWORK. It is a retreat in the historic heart of town, 4 blocks from Arcata Plaza, Northtown and Creamery retail districts, and Cal Poly Humboldt Gateway. Our ideal location allows guests to leave their vehicle and stroll to shops, restaurants, movies, the Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, or Redwood Park trails.

ROSE COURT COTTAGE is a private, quiet, cozy haven. Our guests may indulge in attention to detail: Craftsman-era design elements combined with sumptuous furnishings and linens, and a multitude of thoughtful amenities.

The interior is appointed in a rich motif enhanced by wood trim, multi-light windows, masterful painting and stenciling, and California impressionist landscapes.

The cottage main room has a living/dining/sleeping area with a fireplace, antique queen bed, bistro table and chairs, and sofa which can convert into a double bed. Adjacent to the main room is a fully outfitted kitchenette, and there is a private bath with tiled shower and European 75 jet rain shower head.

Tucked away from the street, the brick cottage courtyard is a lovely outdoor space with a patio seating area, fountain, and a blooming abundance of fragrant English roses.

Whether you are here on vacation or business, are a visiting academic or parent of a CPH student, or are simply passing through, we are certain that our knowledge of the area, as well as our attention and service, will enhance your travel experience to Arcata.

Great location

My family of three stayed in this charming cottage. The garden is beautiful with many lovely roses. This location is walkable to many restaurants and the Square in the center of town. We would come back again!

Sweet Cottage

The cottage is small best for two but can accommodate 4 with the pull out sofa. It is nicely decorated in a vintage style and all linens, pillows, coffee, soap, tea etc. were of good quality. Great location within walking distance to Arcata's plaza.

Home Away From Home

This cottage was our west coast home for two weeks while visiting our daughter. It provided all the amenities that are needed and the location to downtown Arcata was great! The town offers good walking trails along the bay and the beer breweries are many. Your access to the redwoods parks is plentiful and the beaches are inviting. We would definitely rent this cottage again and hope to return soon.

Cozy, comfortable, and great location

It's a short walk to just about everything in Arcata (including a grocery store right across the street) from Christy's Rose Court Cottage. And the cottage itself was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. We especially enjoyed the lovely private patio/seating area surrounded by roses. Christy is a terrific host--very responsive and concerned for her guests.

Beautiful Place, Great Location!

My daughter and I stayed at the Rose Court Cottage during drop off for her first year as a transfer student at CSU Humboldt. Christy was a wonderful host and so accommodating and helpful! The cottage and garden entry is so lovely and peaceful! The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great! We loved the convenient location to both Cal Poly and the town… especially loved walking just across the street to Wildflower grocery store which has a great coffee and juice bar! Will definitely be back!

THIS WAS A VERY CLEAN CUTE PLACE. PERFECT LOCATION. IT WAS MUCH SMALLER THAN I EXPECTED. SOMEONE WAS ALWAYS IN OUR PARKING SPACE. NEXT RENTAL I WOULD LIKE A HOUSE WITH A BEDROOM.

Lumberjack Getback Reunion Trip to Arcata

Traveled to Arcata for a college reunion. The Rose Court Cottage was the perfect home base for my husband and I! The cottage was clean, comfortable and cozy. We really enjoyed the front patio area with the fountain/fish pond and all the beautiful flowers. Christy has really done a great job at creating this little cottage oasis in Arcata. We had everything we needed in the cottage and enjoyed the walkable distances to all our Arcata favorites: HSU (now CPH-Cal Poly Humboldt), Los Bagels, Wildberries Market, the Co op, the Crabs baseball field, and all of the businesses around the Arcata Plaza. Christy was an excellent hostess. We will highly recommend the Rose Court Cottage to our friends and family.

Very nice accommodation in central Arcata.

Clean and comfortable. Good size for 1-2 people who want to be based in town. Enjoyed the little outdoor table and garden. Came in handy with the lockdown rules, as we had to order takeout to eat at home.

I have had a love affair with Arcata since I moved here 50 years ago to attend Humboldt State University, renamed Cal Poly Humboldt. I graduated and could not leave this special place; our progressive kinda quirky little university town is like none other. Rose Court Cottage is adjacent to my downtown Tudor Revival residence, just 4 short blocks to Arcata Plaza.

Why they chose this property

The abundance of natural beauty just minutes away in any direction is phenomenal: the tallest most majestic redwood trees in the world, miles of unspoiled rugged coastline, sand dunes, lagoons, six beautiful rivers, ever changing Humboldt Bay, and Wildlife Refuges, to name a few. The redwood coast offers diverse recreational opportunities which attract visitors from around the world. Since opening in 2004, I have hosted a good number of those visitors here at Rose Court Cottage and guided them to the unique features of our area. I have developed friendships with guests who return again and again to visit their CPH students or family living in the area, attend our many festivals and events, conduct business, or come back to a getaway that they love. It is the perfect base from which to make day trips to the natural wonders of our region, and return at the end of the day to a cozy cottage with all the comforts of home.
