Gaeta is accessible by car from Rome, along the Pontina, in about two hours. You can also take the train from Rome or Naples to Formia, and from there the bus to Gaeta. From the bus stop the accommodation is about 2 minutes walk.
It gets to the front door just by walk, but at 20 meters you can park your car. However for the conformation of the old town and for the size of the city of Gaeta is ideal moving by bicycle. The apartment has a basement where you can store the bikes.
There is also available, on request, a car service with bilingual driver for visiting the cities of art and the beauty of the nearby (Rome, Naples, the Amalfi Coast, etc.) and for reaching your accommodation when you arrive in Italy or near Gaeta.
The medieval town of Gaeta is located on the tip of a promontory surrounded by the sea. The beach of 'Serapo', long and fine sand, is placed where the headland meets the coast and is 1.7 km from the medieval town. It can be reached by foot (easy walk of 20 min.) or by bus, bicycle or car.
But the coast just outside Gaeta offers beautiful beaches and coves; these can be reached by public transport or by car, but the best thing is to rent a boat at the marina of the medieval town (practically next door) and reach them by sea. You will witness an unforgettable show.
The modern city of Gaeta, placed behind the beach of Serapo, offers trendy shops, restaurants, clubs, pubs, a rich market along Via Indipendenza and the fresh fish, unloaded from the fishing boats every day.
